Being a horse owner for 32 years, some youngster starting and training with troubled horse, what I can see here is horsemanship at it's findest. The absolute love for every little detail right from the start plus setting boundaries right from the start will let you progress in no time at all. Being as soft as possible and as hard as needed ( applies to equines, dogs and kids...). Please keep US updated, it will a pleasure to join you on your journey
Wow! Thank you so much for your kind words 😊 We love working with our mules and we always try our best, but we’re still far from professionals, so it’s nice to hear words of encouragement 😊
We’re super excited about little Josey and we plan to share the whole journey of working with her and (hopefully) showing her progress into an awesome mountain mule- she sure has the potential! 😊
I appreciate how patient and encouraging you are. I’ve always believed that is the beginning of any good relationship.
Thank you so much! 😊 We totally agree… we’re far from perfect horsemen (mulemen), but we start with trust and ask for forgiveness when we screw up lol
Shes loving all of it. They truly love to learn stuff. She is cute as a bunch of buttons. !
Haha! She really does like to learn and she’s smart as a whip! It’s been really fun to watch her and Alyssa work together 😊
I take prowler on chore walks where I go pick up dog toys or things around the yard. He has to stop n wait and then turn and follow or back .whatever I wanna do. Then I started saddling and rode a ways . If he got tight I'd get off and hike with him . Stopping and doing stuff. Pick a flower or move some rocks. Haaa. Just doing things that had nothing to do with him but he'd have to move around for me. Then I'd get back on and ride a while. I'm still at that phase with him . Done some good loops up on the trails just him n I. I don't have anyone handy to ride with so we just go. He really doesn't care about leaving the herd . I think cuz we did chore walks. Now they are just longer chore walks. So fun.
Oh that’s so awesome! That’s just perfect 😊🙌🏼 I think walks like that are great for building confidence and building a good relationship. And if you’re anything like us, it’s refreshing to just spend some time alone with your equine 😊
@@MTN_BUILT yes. i love doing things with them that some people would think is boring. Those are the best things to get close and personal and come down from our ridiculous human speed zone.
Thanks for uploading this Alyssa, great little training session. You are so sweet and gentle with this adorable little girl, it’s a pleasure to see. Really looking forward to seeing how she grows with her training. She is such a pretty girl but I think also good hearted and kind. You guys are such an education on all things mule, great, just great. 👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words 😊 We are having so much fun working with her- she’s smart as a whip, and really willing too!
Thanks for watching and taking time to leave such a nice comment! 😊
She is so adorable and wow!Stunning! What a good girl
Thank you!! 😊 we’re so thankful for her! She’s just an amazing little mule ❤️
I am Josey’s number one fan. I smiled from ear to ear through the entirety of this video! I think my pibble Loretta is jealous she’s going to be replaced.
Hahaha! Thank you! She’s such a fun mule to work with! We still kind of can’t believe we have her 🤯
Wow! That pattern! 😍 Thank you for posting this video! Love the gentle, respectful approach you’re using.
Thank you so much for the kind words! And yes, she is SO FLASHY! We really can’t believe we got her- we’re so excited to see what she becomes.
Thanks again for watching and taking time to leave a nice comment 😊
She's so beautiful and smart. You're doing wonderfully well with her. Her sniffing and investigating the tarp is very much her mule side. Even on trail rides, she is wise enough to assess the trail conditions - explore, examine, assess. She'll get where horses fear to tread!
Thank you! And yes, she is brave in the face of fear 😊 It’s so fun to watch mules process scary situations. We’re super excited to see what she becomes!
Thank you for watching and taking time to leave a nice comment!
Every time I lay eyes on this spotted mule… she puts a smile on my face !! 🥰 I really like Craig Cameron as a horse trainer,& the Lucky three ranch mule trainer… Meredith? I think you are handling your new baby well,& building her confidence,& trust in you !! Also love how you picked her name… I’m an Appy fan…& when you read the story of Chief Joseph, the Nez Perce ,& their amazing Appaloosa horses… it is awe inspiring,& heartbreaking. I am a Josey fan for sure !!💕🐎💕🌸
@@anntrope491 I just noticed the rest of your initial comment! Thank you so much for the kind words! We are really enjoying working with her, and we’re Craig Cameron fans as well 😊 I’ll have to look up the lucky three ranch… I haven’t heard of them before.
Thanks so much for watching and taking time to leave such a nice comment! 😊
@@MTN_BUILT Lucky Three Ranch… she’s all about training mules,& donkeys… she uses positive reinforcement… I used to watch her years ago on RFD tv… she was just getting noticed…then lost track… now you can CZcams her … she’s a bit more commercial, but if you get her training videos you’ll get the gold standard on mule training... She jumps, does dressage, trails, & drives.
@@anntrope491 sounds like my kind of person! 🙌🏼😊 We’ll have to look her up when we’re eating lunch today.
She is really pretty and from what I'm seeing you are doing a great job with your natural horsemanship and Josie looks like she being responsive and "getting" it.
I love it!
Thank you so much! She’s doing such a great job 😊 She’s a fast learning and really curious and willing… just a blast to work with 😊🙏🏼
What an incredibly beautifully marked mule, Josie is. And she seems like a sweet and curious girl too. Really nice job on her training :)
Thank you so much! She really has a good mind and she’s great to work with- she learns so quickly! 😊
Great video, enjoyed it.. she will make a good one.. she has the mind for it ..
Onward and Upward is the Watchword..
Thank you! She really does seem to have a great mind… we’re so excited about her. Can’t wait to see Alyssa riding Josey and leading Clyde with a big old bull on his back 😊👍🏼
Hi, i just saw the beautiful pattern and body pn this ncredible mule! I ll be gollowing her progress for sure, you are so gentle and secure with her, it is a joy to watch. She ll be like a pet dog when you are done with her :-) i bet she will be amazing, and funny too! She loves you, its lovely to see. Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us:-)
Thank you so much for the kind words! We are having such a fun time working with her- she just keeps impressing us!
She’s such a blessing to have 😊🙏🏼
Joseph is one BEAUTIFUL baby.
Cannot wait til.she blossoms into a well socialized member of the family.
Thank you!! We can’t wait either! She’s shaping up to be a really special mule! 😁
She is so beautiful!! Love her color/markings. I really enjoyed your training video. Very peaceful!
Thank you! We absolutely love her 😊❤️ And thank you for the kind words… the videos the “work on CZcams” tend to be pretty fast paced, but we posted this one in hopes that it will maybe help someone who wants to get started on the right foot with a mule 😊
This is gonna be an outstanding series.. can’t wait to see how you guys grow together..
Thank you! We're excited to share the process, and hopefully put together one master film once we have her going good under saddle :)
She’s so awesome
Thank you! She’s such a fun and smart little mule! It’s a blessing to have so much time to just work with her slowly before she’s even old enough to ride 😊
@@MTN_BUILT yes I agree I think you guys going to love her more once she’s able to go out with rider on trails
Thank you guys, to share to us all the work, from zero to hero 👏
It’ll be really fun for us to be able to look back on her progress too! Thank you for watching! 😊
I love this video. It makes me feel so much better about me taking it slow with Floyd.. and I love to see how smart she is and curious Floyd is the same way. They really are twins.😂
That’s so awesome! It’s really enjoyable to watch them think things through and solve problems 😊🙌🏼 They’re such cool animals
She's beautiful! 🥰She looks like a giant stuffed animal. I wanna give her a big hug!
When his mother is a appaloosa, that's a native mule from the Nez perce. It's a wonder. The best friendship you can wish. I can look no more, so wonderful is this❤😢
Thank you! She really is a wonderful little mule 😊 We’re so thankful we have her ❤️
Awesome! She's a beauty! And those markings are gorgeous.
I just wish some people would quit saying that they're stubborn and stupid. "It's all about self-preservation as you've mentioned."
They're actually highly intelligent and they'll prevent an accident from occurring through their keen sense of curiosity.
Thank you! We’re so glad we have her 😊 And you’re spot on! They’re not stubborn- they’re just thinkers 😊
@@MTN_BUILT Yes, you're correct. I'd ride a mule over a horse, especially when going down very steep and rough terrain. They're super surefooted and extra careful.
They're the real all terrain mode of transportation.
Please more training videos! Also more how to live this lifestyle
Thank you for the feedback! 😃 we definitely plan on more training videos with Josey and also with another mule of ours named cedar! We started sharing some day to day or “day in the life” style videos to see if folks like them, so we will continue with those for a while at least to get feedback if it’s entertaining for everyone or just boring lol! We appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! Thank you! 😊
Love it ❤
Oh my God that Molly Donkey is gorgeous. I’ve never seen one that look like that really flashy.
Haha! Thank you so much! We’re so thankful for her 😊🙏🏼 She’s going to be a good one!
Very interesting and informative. Greetings from a ranch in South Africa!
Josie is a beauty and so sweet! I have a donkey named Josie and she is sweet as well. I plan to get a mule when I move out there. I really enjoy your training style, you have a knack for it!
Thank you so much! 😊 and that’s awesome that you already have a donkey and you’re planning to get a mule as well. I like your style! 😊🙌🏼
Good looker! Tame is a big help.
Thank you! And yes, it really is - she’s such a willing and gentle little mule 😊
You are amazing with your animals
@@MTN_BUILT
Well I have watched a lot of guys and gals do what you do and they are not as patient or as non abrasive redirecting the horse/mule. I just think your way is so freaking amazing!!!!!
@@mattshanks2604 oh awesome! That’s a place we haven’t explored nearly enough… yet 😊
Omgosh, so cute would love to have such a great pretty girl!
Thank you!! We are so thankful for her! She’s a smart and flashy little thing 😊
She sure seems to be a very sweet mare! Or filly, molly, or whatever. It will be fun to watch you train her, since I know nothing about mules yet. I would love to come and visit you, and go on a trail ride with you. I have no idea how long your rides are, or where you are located. I will try to find out, then maybe I'll write or phone for info.
Thank you! She really is a sweet little molly, and we’re so thankful to have her 😊🙏🏼
We live I Idaho, and we would love to be set up for guests and trail rides one day, but we’re not quite financially there yet 😊
That was interesting very good presentation what is that brush made of I saw her muscle in the leg quiver what is that a sign of and does Jason train with her as well you know I can't remember how many acres you have there Josey seemed by what you were saying as doing well I learned something new oh I zoomed in on those steps up to the house there is that top step in need of repair just curious thanks kray
Thank you Kray! The brush has little metal teeth on it that help remove the loose hairs… the mules all love it! The little quiver was similar to the quiver they do when a fly lands on them… they’ll do it a lot of times when you touch them and they aren’t quite paying full attention.
We just have 2 1/2 acres here, but we sure love it! 😊 And yeah, unfortunately there’s a lot about our house that needs fixed up lol the deck and steps are pretty high on the list. We filmed a little property tour and we talk about all the fun stuff that needs done around here… Hope can get it edited and released here pretty soon 😊
Thanks for watching and taking time to leave another nice comment, Kray!
Have a good night!
@@MTN_BUILT yes I have been looking forward to a property tour I'm looking forward to that and yes that brush reminded me of the suede brushes we used on our shoes in the 60s and 70s thanks kray
@@kraymississippi4388 haha!! Yeah, she cleans up as pretty as a suede shoe! 😂🙌🏼
Have a great day today, Kray!
@@MTN_BUILT I wasn't joking we actually used those steel brushes on desert boots back then and when I saw Alyssa drop it to the ground it looked just like the ones we used thanks kray
She is a beautiful girl. She wants to.learn.
Thank you! She really does… she’s a thinker and it’s really fun to watch her learn 😊
Yikes.....A cross between an Appy and a Mule....Imagine the jokes we could tell...😂😂😂😂
@MTN_BUILT I'll bet you have that little thing going this spring...I'll expect videos...good and bad.....I like to watch you guys...good times
Thank you!! She’s doing well 😊 she’s just a year and a half and we won’t start riding her probably until she is 3 but we can do all kinds of stuff by then!
Alright mule and horse people! Do you have any specific tips or tactics for working with young horses or mules? Alyssa and I love working with our mules, but we still have a lot to learn! Thank you for watching and contributing here in the comment section :)
