I love the natural sounds in the background that you don't see in many other channels since they work in a closed space or warehouse. 8:18 Now the other side of the fluff?
    8:40 Investigating the gravel
19:31 One final inspection for the restored pieces, from the fluffy assistant of the orange fur, Avril
So, that's how the old blowtorches are. I guess they might also work well for roasting some treats, kitty treats maybe?

A lot of old torches don't have the fuel pre heater like this one. Great restoration, and I hope you use it often.

These definitely didnt run on alchohol. Most if not all of these ran off of kerosene. And used gasoline in the heat pan to preheat. Alcohol would dry up the leather gasket (originally used leather) in the pump. Kerosene was more widely available and cheaper. And unlike alcohol lubricates the leather gasket providing a better seal and in turn higher amounts of pressure. Edit: I've never seen and or heard of any of these torches using alcohol. I've actually never heard of alcohol used in any form of industrial use (which these torches were used for back in the day) as a form of torch fuel. The only use I've heard of alcohol being used in any industrial application, was as a cheap degreaser.

Correct, these run on kerosene, it was cheap, a lot of tractors were run on power kero, they were generally started on petrol/gasoline, then switched over to kero,
the pressure pump used a leather valve seal and a cupped leather washer not a thick rubber washer, the cupped washer will allow the air to bypass the washer on the pull stroke, then the washer seals on the downstroke, a few drops of oil was applied to the leather to lubricate it, pretty much all kerosene pressure lamps, stoves and blow torches used the same type of air pump.
Otherwise a nice restoration, I would have repainted the tank since it's steel not brass.

    Brilliant restoration as always.
However your blow lamp is for a Lanz hot bulb semi diesel tractor and it runs on Petrol (or as our American friends say Gasoline) you'll have to trust me I've used one many times. The lamp is used in the vertical and the bracket at the back hooks onto a pin on the front axle under the hot bulb.

There’s a question I have that I’ve noticed from not only you but other restoration videos, why remove the mold lines and markings that are original to the piece. It’s Part of its history of how it was made

Did you fill the main tank with alcohol? I thought that it was going to run on kerosene? And pre heat with alcohol/spirits! I have one similar and ive been using kerosene always. Hi from Cork in Ireland. Love your channel its the best

With a pressurized tank like that, you probably can use a lot of different types fuels. As long as the fuel atomizes, it burns... And the fact that you adjust the flow to air ratio, it works. JMHO

I liked your mouser taking a break from his/her primary duties to quality control inspect your restoration project. Excellent video and professional restoration. I'm not sure why you did not paint the steel parts. My grandfather used baring ball bearings to beat the rust out of a steel container on a lathe. Again, a great project. 👍Thank you 😊.
