BUDH, is a women centric Short Film (Based on Indian Roots) . It’s a Story of three women from different parts of India in different age group. Its about 19 Year old Catholic girl Yvonne from a metropolitan city, 32 year old Zainab a Muslim house wife from Small city and Laxmi a Hindu Widow from a Northern village of India. These women have a similar struggle in their daily life and that is mental and physical abuse. Their intensity and situation varies but the consistency is the same.
Yvonne is going through a break up with her boyfriend who cheats on her and gets abusive when he finds out she has moved on. Zainab is been tortured and nagged for two years in her marriage by her husband who pushes her to work and when she starts working he finds it weird. Who abuses her physically and verbally. Whereas Laxmi is going through a scariest life where her enemy is none other than another woman that is her mother in law. Laxmi is been forced to sleep with her brother in law as her husband has died in a road accident and she is expected to deliver a baby boy. Her brother in law is married but his wife cant conceive so he is forced to sleep with Laxmi who in turn delivers a baby girl to their disappointment. Its when all these women get inspired and realize that life is all about facing the fact and standing up for themselves. It is when they come to a point where they notice the whole world is going to keep them trapped until they stand up.

The truth is- education &/or job can not decide worth of a human. There are millions of people holding high class jobs but feeling worthless inside, thousands of women with high end job positions are still being abused by others. Because they do not believe in themselves. Self-worth comes from within. It requires belief in one’s self, love for self, acceptance for self. Without this any job position or amount of education can not bring TRUE respect for anyone.

There are millions of good men in this world who are suffering from women's torture. Have you heard of FALSE domestic violence cases, FALSE 498 cases, FALSE harassment cases that women are filing on innocent men and their families? Go to Indian courts and you will hundred of families who are fighting with false alligations of women and their families to extort money from men. There are many NGO's working to fight for men's rights. If you are a good man who takes care of his family, loves and respects his wife, and all women around you then you should be proud of yourself. In this case the women are the victims what about the men who are suffering.

@@bm8292 And In India many people still blame women who want to be single forever or single mothers, pressuring them to marry in such way.
Plus it is a wife who is expected to do chores and quit her job, sacrificing her salary and becoming financially dependant, and in many families if a woman is employed they want her to do most of housework as well.
I do not say every woman is a victim or every husband is bad, there are different cases, but generally women suffer more cause it is difficult for them to ptotect themselves, there are some gender based expactations about housework, it is a woman who face periods and pregnancy and because of it can not be fully financially productive in these phases of her life.
In rural areas women do not always manage even to finish schools and forced into marriage, even if they know about the law they are locked in their houses and it can be very hard for them to reach police and NGOs.
