    Watched 'Manoranjan' and I'm still reeling from the experience. The way this short film turns an ordinary setting into a haunting narrative is sheer genius. The homemaker's transformation is both chilling and fascinating, proving that horror can exist in the most mundane of places. The subtlety of her actions and the psychological depth with which she manipulates the situation is outstanding. This is a must-watch for anyone intrigued by the darker, more intricate aspects of human behaviour. Brilliantly unsettling!

  • @shreyavij6113
    @shreyavij6113 Před 2 lety +264

    Story was good but unexpectedly, some questions remain unanswered. Here's what I understood from the movie was (in sequence):
    Satyanarayan works for railways and Lalita supports him financially by doing business of selling papad so that her 2 children get good education. As a family, they have been to Dalhousie once (this is known because at the end Lalita opens the suitcase and we get to see the photograph). Sometime after that, these 2 children went to play outside and died in a rail accident (this is known as Satyanarayan tells the story to Chirag).
    What I assume now is that since that time Lalita has been wanting to go to Dalhousie again maybe in order to re-live the memories with her children who are not there anymore.
    After the tragic incident, Lalita became mentally ill (As Majhi tells her that "Khali pet dawai nhi lete while giving her a piece of cake) and is delusional. The things she tells to Chirag about her son being NDA etc, about is the delusion part as the children are not there anymore. Her telling Chirag that she is doing papad business is also delusional because she throws papad and there's no tempo there.
    Now, I don't know if it can actually be called delusion or just the obsession or admancy of getting rid of Chirag so that she can go to Dalhousie because I understand from the movie that she is keen to go to Dalhousie ( a long due plan) because of her children and she doesn't want to delay it more. So is Lalita pretending or is actually delusional is difficult to say. But she is definitely mentally disturbed. And therefore I say my questions are unanswered and yes, I am not fully convinced though the story was good.
    Also, I didn't get why she said the pakodas were of pyaaz but actually they were of aloo.

      they addressed the real issue that how sometimes people become delusional after great loss but the twist is here is that its not her husband its her who is the actual victim bc according to her her husband is delusional about his mother but the real case is that she is being delusional about her kids.....but this could be her acting or strategy bc if she was actually delusional then she would never want to go to dalhousie to live her children memories bc acc to her children were doing job outside and if she was delusional about her children how could she not aware of the people who are alive like her mother in law...she did that intensionally to scare chiraag bc to make him believe its her mother in law who is dead but actually she was alive and he would leave

    There was a very similar story that I read decades ago in Reader's Digest. A lady talks about her husband and their dog who went out hunting in the marshes and never came back. And then they suddenly enter through the window and the visitor thinks of them as ghosts and runs away. And the lady makes up another story about the visitor being scared of dogs. It must be quite a coincidence if Gul Pang's story is uniquely original and not inspired by the old one. And if it is, then an acknowledgement is due.

    VERY WELL EXECUTED & PRODUCED!! This is very similar to a famous old story by Saki H.H. Munro (Scottish Writer 1870-1916) Those who are interested in unusual tales - He has a collection of short stories worth checking out. Students of English Literature will know him well. I used to tell this particular short story to my older students at school - & they loved it, because it was spooky & yet quite clever. This Desi version was very well done!! Excellently directed, good cast selection & acting - the lead star's acting in particular. I guessed what she was up to, & wondered if that's where the story was leading - But in spite of that I was very impressed by the outcome & this version / production!! Yet another well deserved 👍to the entire team - WAY2Go!! Namaste🙏from USA!!

    Wow what a transformation... from a gothic start 😬
    the narration was so gripping it gave me chills, Maa ji's entrance was scary
    the entire plot became so emotional "khayengey to bus teen hi" and then the catharsis of why she was so desperate to visit "Dalhousie" - brought tears 🥲

    I was completely taken aback by 'Manoranjan'. The film masterfully plays with the concept of psychological horror, using the simplicity of daily life as its backdrop. The homemaker character is crafted with such complexity and depth, making every gesture and every word from her laden with tension. It's a compelling reminder of how powerful and eerie the human mind can be. The young guest's growing discomfort adds so much to the suspense. I highly recommend it for those who love a story that makes your skin crawl with its subtlety and unexpected twists.
