It would have been equally bad if Kobe himself died but the fact that Gianna who would have carried her father’s legacy was on that helicopter as well. Truly the most depressing moment in sports history.

Professionalism. These guys, they have little tricks. They have to, because they have to always appear professional before a camera, even when things are going south for them in life. So they learn how to keep it together. And boy did she pull them on this one: Smiling more, put a somewhat wider grin when tears would come close, for instance (quite effective). You can pinpoint too when she was about to break by the way she would suddenly throw the eyes to a side, then back to the camera, a very effective trick at keeping things at hand, and not break down in tears.
It's amazing she kept it together. You can tell how much Kobe meant for her. And her tribute has been one of the most touching we've seen, as you very well say.

Rachel Nichols has always been one of my favorites. After this, all bets off! Absolutely incredible! You can tell she adored Kobe and is crushed! But, kept it together! Deserves an Emmy!
As for Kobe; my favorite player behind only Magic! He was going to be even BIGGER in his next life!
R.I.H. Kobe and Gianna! Rest In Heaven all who perished that morning! 😢😢😢😢

Fruit cake I’m a big aviation nerd as well as a lifer Lakers fan and Kobe disciple. Be comforted by this: From what I’ve seen from the NTSB, they didn’t even know they were crashing when it happened. They were blind in the fog and didn’t know they were descending into a mountain. It comforts me knowing they didn’t suffer or know that they were going to die.
