I live in Africa and know nothing about basketball, but I knew about Kobe Bryant. Even on a tv screen one couldn't help but be drawn to him.
I've spent the past 2 days watching interviews Kobe had with various people, and people who knew him talking about him, but this has honestly been the most comforting and heartfelt interview I have watched. I can see why Kobe was drawn to Derek as a friend. What a thoughtful, empathetic friend to have. They are rare. I cannot imagine what Kobe's wife and eldest daughter (the little ones are too young), and his parents and sister are going through. It's just unimaginable. I wish them so much strength and love to carry them through these very dark times. I'm sure Derek will be there to help pick up the pieces if and when he can. He seems that kind of man. For him to lose a close friend like this must also be beyond comprehension. It probably hasn't even sunk in yet. The only comfort I can impart to his family and friends, we hear you, and although grieving is such a private process, there is huge support. Lean on that support. God bless and love you always xxx

This has been my favorite interview since the tragedy. D-Fish, "Little Rock", shared that passion for the game and that fire and determination that Kobe had. Minimal talent and skill compared to Mamba. But, that same passion and fire that made Kobe arguably the greatest to ever lace em up, is the same combo in between the ears and inside a man's chest that made a dude who really had no business being anything more than a collegiate level player, to being a key contributor to 5 time NBA championships. A true consummate professional D-Fish. Just like Kobe.
