It's not a culture war, it's a complete cancellation of History (World and National), biographies, autobiographies, etc. The solution is if you don't like a subject or certain book, just don't read them. Parent's can and do restrict what they allow their children to read, with the exception of regular school curriculum book's and even with those books that are, say part of the assignment or choice in an English or Literature class, parent's can lodge a complaint or have a change of book assigned to their particular child if they have a sensible reason to not want their child to read the book assigned to the class (although, particularly with the current Republican Party "atmosphere" that could and would get completely out of hand (as we are seeing) and they should home school their child or pay to put them in a private school whose values they agree with, are aligned with or trust. Public Schools are supposed to be about education, learning and growth of young people and need to remain so. Private School's used to have the same goal, but with mostly wealthy Republican (and/or Democrat ideologies taking over and book banning/burning happening, Private School student's will be getting a lessor or substandard education from now on) and people who put their children in Religious Schools quite obviously are far more concerned with Religious ideology than education anyway. Why they can't just take their children to the Church of their choice, regularly, or enroll them in Sunday School or the equivalent for their Religious doctrine and/or education I simply don't understand.

We’re exhausted. I’ve been a librarian for more than 25 years. I’ve had challenges to materials before but have never been personally attacked until this past year. No library or librarian is safe from the bullying and attacks. People who don’t support these attacks on libraries need to be proactive and attend library board meetings and speak out in support of these programs and materials even if your library isn’t currently facing a targeted attack. Let the board and the library staff know your support them.
I don't understand why the left wing monied interests aren't suing people like Fox News on your behalf for basically fomenting terrorism.

Might I recommend Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire. Banned by the military junta of Brazil, which forced the author to live in exile for several years, it's a fundamental text of critical pedagogy. It also has the most cogent leftist analysis of why leftist projects fail ever put to paper, in my estimation.

All these book banning efforts are doomed to failure as they should be because many public libraries around the country offer e-book library cards to everyone and anyone no matter where they live. FREE THE BOOKS - for educated, informed and engaged public
One way is to get those that oppose books on shelves will find their 501 (c) (3) can be challege and if the IRS so puts them on notice that their 501 will be cancelled. Once that occurs the city, county and State will be at their front door for back taxes.
