This feels like some of the best explanations of applied electrical engineering for auto-mechanics/mechanical engineers and mechatronics design and procurement. Fantastic explanations and well timed memes. Digikey and mouser and other electronic procurement seems so hard compared to amazon, but the way you break it down, it seems much more approachable. Awesome video.

Nice video. In the project I worked on there were 2 switches. I had a physical disconnect breaker that I put in line with the battery and the motor controller had a kill switch tied to the key. Lots of ways to skin that cat.

Thanks for the kind words, and also for sharing about your project!
Im just now starting to look how Im going to wire everything up. Im currently leaning towards having the key turn on the accessories (including the DC-DC converter), and then have the kill switch operate the contactor.
Hopefully my videos are adequately presenting the information and how i made my design choices without implying that there's any single "RIGHT" way to do it.

just had one set of mosfets go short in my cheap ebay 3kw(dont laugh its only a city shopper!) motor controller, fortunatly while i cheaped out on the controller i bought a bms i like the construction of and it detected the short and disconnected the battery before my fuse even had time to blow.
it also every half minute tried to turn back on and tripped again still not blowing any dinosaur slow fuses. i'll be contacting the manufacturer because if its detected a short its silly it tries to turn back on every 30 seconds...
replaced the blown shorted mosfets in the motor controller with quality ones and alls good again.

No judgement here! one of the barriers to broad commercialization of electric motorcycles is that every single rider will have a slightly different use case, making it hard for the OEMs to standardize and mass produce while also catering to their target market.
I havent researched fuses for my project yet....im guessing im going to need one that's rated for ~300 amps connected directly to battery positive?

Those pesky projects love to throw you for a loop... but my MAN LIGHTNINGFROG27 isnt here for it, HE IS THE PROBLEM. my man
