- In this video, Dexter a 8 x week old Chocolate Labrador Puppy is experiencing his first night on his own - separated from his 4 x brothers and 3 x sisters. But not to worry, he adjusted quite well after this night! PS. The pool he is in is the very best thing for a new puppy......I wouldn't have it any other way.
I sleep next to my puppy's crate. No crying whatsoever. They want to be right next to you, but crate training is a must.
well all the people saying they would let the pup sleep with them. Y'all do realize it's a pup that's not potty trained so it would most likely shit in your bed while you are asleep
+Stephanie Trotter Take a small crate to the bedroom, the dog will need to go potty in the night, so you will be able to know when he wakes and take him out. This kind of stress can cause permanent PTSD type damage to a young puppy.
Idk why I laughed so hard at thus
I just brought A madras with me to the livingroom
he is gorgeous!!!
Teaching the puppy about the crate and using the crate overnight PROPERLY is so relatively straightforward and I feel so sorry for this puppy because he was obviously not introduced to it properly!
We brought home a 12 weeker. I left a bit of music playing around during the first couple of nights and he was absolutely quiet ever since. Labs are so gorgeous when it comes to behaviour. Remember, I didn't leave him in a crate or a playpen. Gave him one of the rooms and a comfy bed.
Kamesh Ganeshan That's just the way to do it :)
That poor little dog :( they can tell when you don't want them. My dad turned up home randomly with a dog, only he likes them. My mum sat at the kitchen table by herself and was talking to herself like "what the hell do I do with a dog?!" And the little guy came over (10 months when we got him) and looked at her all sad like he knew and she literally melted. He's now 9 years old and absolutely adored by all of us and my boyfriend and I are getting our first puppy together in about 5 months. Goes to show the little things can change your perception. You will grow to love him.
Silly comment. They want their puppy, but puppies are not potty trained and can get into trouble if they are not contained. It is safest to keep them in a small area for a while.
Our puppy sleeps in her crate at night in the living room (which is right outside my bedroom door) and our older dog sleeps on his bed in front of the crate. I leave the tv and a lamp on. She whines when she needs to potty, I take her out, then she goes back to sleep. She actually loves her crate and will retreat to it by herself when she’s sleepy or tired of the attention she gets from everyone (and yes, puppies DO need breaks from people wanting to play with them). We don’t close the door unless it’s bedtime, and she’s perfectly happy with the arrangement.
That sound the puppy makes at around 0:40 almost sounds human.
That's my puppy in the morning when I'm getting reafy for school. :)
My labrador absolutely hated his crate 😟. We left him in the kitchen, where his bed is, the one night, didn't put him in the crate, and he was fine, didn't hear a peep from him 😊
I wish people would do their research before making the commitment of getting a puppy. Lots of little things you could have done to mitigate the stress on the little guy here.
I’m sorry. But I don’t think u realise that even if u read every book, or watch every vid. Even if u start crate training the second u get home. And have everything u need. That isn’t going to stop the puppy from being terrified. Imagine u were him, u just get ripped from ur mum and littermates by some strange human creature. Then bought home to a weird box thing and inside, u go into this scary, big metal crate, which is HUGE for them. So whatever u do. The first night will always b the worst. There r things u can do to try and help. But it won’t stop the crying completely. So u can’t just assume that someone has done no research or anything before getting their new pup, just based on seeing 1 vid of it crying. Sorry. That was rly long! I hope I didn’t come across as rude. I just wanted to help a little. Cuz I’m getting my pup in about a week. And I have done LOADS of research. Yet he is still gonna cry 100%. Hope this helped ☺️
My lab was in a crate at 8 weeks old. I did not allow my fiancé to bring him to bed with us or to bring the crate to our bedroom. After almost a week of sleepless nights, he is finally on a schedule! He is now 11 weeks and sleeps all night and wakes up at a decent time in the morning. He's a very good dog! He's teething, but thank God for doggie toys made for teething. He's like our baby! We couldn't be happier!
mmtz1983 Why wouldn't you let him in bed or in the room? He's a puppy, a baby for god sakes. It's not like he's a sewer rat or something, c'mon!
***** you are missing the point here. A dog has to learn to be independent and alone. You're not gonna be with the dog 24/7 are you? Letting them sleep alone for the first few nights is okay after that you can let it sleep wherever it wants. Sleeping alone will help it deal with separation anxiety when you leave for work, etc. I hate seeing puppies being scared too but the reason you have to do this with puppies is because puppies accept new things readily (it doesn't mean they aren't afraid) between 8-12 weeks. Try this with a full grown dog and barking won't stop.
+Michael Undas That is how you train a dog, right now I hear my puppy crying, it is breaking my heart but if I give in to that he will never learn
You wouldn't have been my fiancé for much longer put it that way girlfriends are 10 a penny you would have been on your way home before could have said dumped never mind spelling it
+Aza Jabar I look fwd to your reply I could do with a giggle as I have not stopped crying since I found out my kids can't be mine and my marriage is not real according to your 😢😢😢👍👍 them tears are for you I hope your happy 😂😂😂😂😅😅😛😜😁😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If they are fed, exercised, not thirsty...cuddled and tired...then they are ready for the crate..
I used treats to get my lab accustomed..walking them in and out, sitting on the floor,..once puppy is relaxed and lays down, you can get up and walk away..
I think best to have a day of introduction to a crate before locking in overnight..
oh our 4th night of this love dogs never had this before.
Just a tip for future reference, put your puppy's crate beside your bed and let him/her sleep there!
Aryan Chohan i did that,i got annoyed of him whining right in my ear and then i opened the crate and letted him sleep in my bed.
Woke up to a full blast of dirrahea on my sheets and my carpet
@@seamacaw8473 sorry brother that i laughed but that comment lol
You got my attention I like dogs.
It's 10:46 you acting like its 3:00
Boi it’s 10:46 like what time do you go to bed 8:00?! You need to keep the puppy closer to where everyone is sleeping so little puppy doesn’t get lonely. Also you need to give the puppy some toys to keep them distracted and give them something to do. I know this video is old but if someone scrolling through this and getting a puppy soon, I hope you can read this :)
Matilda Chamberlain The worst thing is to comfort so he can get used to being in the crate and if you keep trying to comfort him he will never stop and crying and be crate trained
Come on dude, pick up the puppy!
Can't really understand why someone would post a video of his puppy in misery.
Let that puppy out!!!!!!!!
When I bring home a new puppy, if he cries the first night I take him for a long walk. We walk until he's exhausted. I bring him to his crate and he will usually sleep solid for four hours until he needs to potty.
give him a teddy!!! poor thing ugh
This is me now, with my new puppy! When do they stop? Do they eventually just fall asleep?
Clever
He should have hes crate beside your bed, so he doesn't feel lonely...
Claudio Schwab true
Exactly!!!!!
Yeah that’s wat I did for my puppy and he didn’t whine that much
He probably needs to use the bathroom and sleep with the pet owner
no I didn't get any sleep I've been up all night preparing for my new puppy
i could understand more if it weren't the first night and you were crate training and even if u have to go to work and put the puppy in the crate for awhile, while someone comes and checks up on it but really o its 10:46 its not a big deal its a puppy of course its gonna cry also while being separated from its family?! I'm getting a chocolate lab soon and i will never ever put her in a crate at night only when at school and even then i would have some one come check up on her...... i really hope u got the pup out of their when you turned off the camera, sorry anyone who didn't like what i said but i can say my opinion
You are funny David. " People want dog are in bed"
You could make this simple. Train him with treats and a mark like “yes.” When my puppy did what I want he got a treat and when he misbehaved he did not get the treat and a simple “naw.” Now as he was crate training he whined but I would use “naw” and that taught him it was a bad behavior. Takes literally 1 minute for him to calm down and then he is out from 10:00 pm until 4 am.
Monsieur! Vous l'avais enfermer dans 2 cage ?ho jésus Christophe.
mine is like this 5:30am last 3 nights... in the back yard
how is it now
that's what Sugar my dog did ...I couldn't sleep!
lonely :(
I'm getting a labrador in a few months (prob yellow)
im getting a labra doodle tomorrow
I remember that first night... soooo cute !!
THAT DOG HAD NO TOYS your meant to distract them with one and don't give them attention when they wine it will teach them to wine for attention when there older.
Trust me that doesn't work for all dogs , when my dog was a puppy I gave him plenty of toys, he still cried during the night. He just needs time to get used to sleeping alone
The puppy is probably crying becuase he is in a new place and he misses he's family
or that
Same here with my gs
exactly how my lab mix sounds like!!
Same😂🐶
gsharpshooter80 mine as well
on night 3 and my 12 week old chihuahua won't give up. She's a menace.
When puppies do this does that mean theyre lonely or do they need attention, im getting a puppy soon and I really need to know. Should I just take him outside if he does this?
Give lots of attention to the puppy and pet it...
Check out Zac George (No Dominance) Training technique. I just discovered him. I like it.
Dogs are pack animals. They want to be with the pack. Even if it is only you and the pup, then you two are the pack!
The first few days are tough on a pup. Before bringing him/her home get a little towel or baby blanket with his mother's scent on it for the pup to sleep with it.
Also, put the crate next to your bed at night. This is good for two reasons. One the pup will feel loved and secure being near you, his pack mate. And two, once you hear the dog moving around and squirming, it is because he needs to go potty and you can wake up and take him out BEFORE the whines.
Good Luck
PS Don't feed or water your puppy right before bedtime so that he does not have a full bladder or bowels.
In addition the puppy will not need to stay in your bedroom indefinitely. This is only for a few days or a week or two at most until the pup has become use to you and his new home with you. ;)
Call me a softy but I would have taken to the bedroom although I heard that u should let them tough it out. All years I had a dog as a young boy, the dog stayed on the foot of the bed . He watched over me like a hawk !!!
that's kind of scary lol
I know rainbow bridge exists and I shall meet my son again I know it it's as sure as sunrise
This kind of training is probably best, much like leaving a human baby in their crib. You people in here complaining that this is cruel, when the same thing happened to you when you were a baby. Nobody in their right mind is going to let a puppy sleep on their bed in the start. Just like they're not going to have a diaperless baby on their bed all night. No. They're going to leave baby in the crib all night, trying to not give in to their cries for attention. The same logic applies to puppies. Learn from this, folks.
Poor puppy, they need love first nights, not in a cage.
He needs to be potty trained first.
my two chocolate labs were never put in cages...the lazy way to own a dog. Potty training is super easy..take them out based on their age in months...if a dog is 2 months old...every two hours, 3 months 3 hours and so forth..throwing it in a cage and cleaning after it is not potty training.
Gabriella SMF give me a break
panic!at the 21 dollhouses I've had my 8 week old golden / collie mix a few hours . Playtime , food , water and bath .. no accidents
Well u kinda need to teach them crying will not get them out of their kennel
Going through the same thing, with an American Bulldog puppy. Hoping she'll calm down over the next week.
Wtf
Where day number 2
hope you love your lab David :).. the thought of separated from his brother and sister make me sad
My shih-tzus were soooo interested in the noise.. tilting their little heads all over the place
So cute I had a puppy it was in a cage howling
Sounds like my old man
For anyone feeling bad about this “first night” video here is a link to how his life is 8 x years later, I think you will agree it’s pretty darn good!
czcams.com/video/w94FAzhkWuw/video.html
The poor puppy should have been in a crate in his new family’s bedroom. Crate yes first night abandoned alone cruel
where did u get tht puppy
he had to go pee
This poor puppy has an owner who doesn't know how to raise him. It's so upsetting.
Whtats upsetting is how ignorant you are. Yes the pup is upset but as the video says, it's the first night home. The pup is not used to being by himself. With such a young pup you can not just let him roam free, and pee all over your floor. There's a process puppy owners have to go through. Yes I do agree maybe he could be closer to the owner during bedtime but other than that I see no problem with this.
Can u shut up seriously u don’t have a clue
It’s breaking my heart. Poor pup I’d have to have him in my bed or cuddle him. He’s missing his family
Awaqeaa
she is so funny
puppy needs to be able to run and play and have toys to play with not caged up like a chicken not cool pups whinning cause it wants out
I have subscribed to your channel I don't have many videos but you can see my puppies on my channel I will be posting more soon
i let my puppy in my bedroom UGH i woke up the whole house was brown in darahee and my parents laughed like devils saying heres your dog.
SeaMacaw I know I'm ten months late, but if your puppy had diarrhea, then either you switched pet foods quickly instead of transitioning slowly, or he ate something he shouldn't have.
Dummy put crate next to you it'll calm.down
I've got 2 dogs and a cat they all sleep with me in my bedroom on the bed on the floor anywhere they want they are part of my family and I treat them that way I would never lock them in a cage there all house trained and the cat just comes and goes through her cat flap I've got a St. Bernard a jack Russell and just a moggy cat I would never put them in a cage and leave them alone shame on you
