Real Men Real Style Glad you got such a nice piece. The explorer is my favorite Rolex.Your grandkids will definitely appreciate it when they inherit it.
I enjoyed that - Casey has a very smooth and eloquent way of describing some of the concepts behind Swiss watches and Rolex, I love that! The Explorer is surely one of the biggest legendary names from the brand... I reckon the Sub is the most recognizable but the Explorer is certainly more versatile in styling. I would say Rolex holds value better than just about any brand, only names that are comparable would be Patek and possibly AP. That Hublot is cool but you probably lose quite a chunk of value once it's out of the packaging. Best regards from Downunder! Ivan.
perfect watch in what sense? value preservation or creation? i felt that since explorer 1016 is getting more and more expensive, perhaps the tritium 14270 (from 1989 to before early 1998) should be the next inline to grow in value while you enjoy the watch by wearing it on a daily basis to watch the gradual beauty of the patina on the dial. And i think this 214270 is way too big and 36mm is perfect size.
I've had mine over four years now. It's a fantastic, versatile watch. My only grope is that I wish it didn't have the maxi case that makes the lugs bigger.
The Rolex Explorer 214270 is very awesome. Other than the Rolex President, the Explorer 1 is my watch of choice. Yes, it is a perfect wristwatch and worth every penny.
Teachering Big difference between the President and Explorer. Seems to me like they are so totally different. Interesting that these are your two favorites. But I can see that. 👍 Mark
Hey Guys - Derek here the guy that was hiding behind the Camera :) Big thanks to Antonio for linking to us in this video! If you have any questions that you'd like answered about the club or luxury watches in general drop a coment below and Casey or I will do our best to answer it.
The ORIS TT1 Williams F1Team Day-Date is the watch mentioned in the video which I bought for $400. As for getting a discount that will really depend on the dealer. Most will do some sort of discount but there are many factors that come in to play when you're talking about how much of a discount. One of the things we teach is negotiation tactics you can use to try and increase your discount If you choose to buy from an Authorized Dealer or get some extra added benefits like a free first cleaning of the watch which can cost thousands all by itself.
Hi Derek, Hi Casey, I asked myself exactly that question a few years back already but could not find the information until NOW! Just singed up and hope to be in ur next beta group! I look forward being invited to whatever you choose to invite me to. Look out for the e-mail ending with .de - im from Germany Since asking myself that question I have already bought a used Steinhart which I still own and really love and recently a used Tissot. Both chronographs and with a Valjoux 7750 which I really like too. To buy I also the advice I got from by dad buying cars over the years. I did not want to loose at least so much money when I will decide to sell them. That was my short story. Great, great idea! I whish you all the best.
WTF is this guy saying?! Rolex's watches are the only waterproof watches?! Why do you think some of their watches are rated to 100 meters and some 3,900 meters? No watch is truly waterproof. And 904L steel isn't "superstrong". 904L steel is just more corrosion resistant than 316L steel.
The "good deal" he got on this watch, I assume is discount for having to do these marketing videos for it. At least that would explain why he's been mentioning it rather often lately.
Great video as always! I'd like to see your thoughts on the various smart watches out there - I'm sure sport smart watches aren't your thing, but there are a few luxury smart watches I'd like to hear your opinion on.
Nice watch. A slightly cheaper option and just as nice looking (plus the reliability, comfort etc.) is the Oyster Perpetual with the "Explorer, 3,6,9 dial (blue face). Retails at just under £4k.
Why do I have a Rolex Explorer Rev. 1016? Because my mom bought it for my dad. I loved my dad. He's been gone for a long time; but when I wear his watch, I feel like he is with me. The watch looks great. I love its simplicity. Most of my other watches have the date complication; I have come to hate that. I've had it serviced by Rolex twice now and, I am sad to say, they replaced the original domed acrylic crystal with a semi-domed crystal. Someday I will replace that with a domed crystal.
Þorkell Sigvaldason my casio all plastic watch cost me 20 buks thats what i call good price and it also is water proof. I use it at work when i go to the beach etc etc.
I'm not convinced about your reasoning. I took a look at the Rolex homepage and even for a Submariner, a diving watch, they say "Water resistance" not "Water Proof"
Although waterproof is a term that Rolex uses, it apparently has to do with their screw-down crown and case back, of which they have a patent on at least one of. This does not mean they cannot fail and jumping off a cliff into water could be one of the things to make it do so. I would trust that properly used and maintained, Rolex watches can withstand their depth ratings and possibly beyond. This does not mean that other companies that list "water resistance" as their terminology, can't actually live up to their ratings. There are other water resistance systems from different manufacturers that are arguably better than Rolex's as well.
I read that Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond novel series, wore the original Explorer. For some collectors, such intangible particulars as these can factor into a certain watch's appeal.
Real Men Real Style That's the article! As a segue to this subject, I added an Omega Seamaster to my collection because of the Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig Bonds who wore it. : )
Get the Submariner, It's already your perfect watch and its one of the more recognizable watches which should help get you a few more views when you do the review. Can't go wrong ether way though!
A great watch no doubt, but I think the explorers strength lies in the ability to be worn in every setting, only bond can pull off a diver in a suit. I have both in my collection, i would say get the sub because its awesome and pick up a seiko sarb033 or 035 for something in between full on sport diver and dress watch
Funny also bought the explorer 38mm around a month ago. What sold me was the clean dial easy to read for a guy with glasses. Also perfect balance between business and casual. Liked it better than a sub.
Interesting point that nobody seems to mention. The Explorer is actually 39.5mm. Compare that to the OP 39 which is actually 38.5mm. It's no wonder the explorer wears bigger
Rolex Explorer is a timeless classic, well balanced time piece. You see perfection in its imperfection. That is why it is the perfect watch when you own a Rolex Explorer.
The perfect watch is a pocket watch that keeps accurate time. And it doesn't have to be expensive. That's why I get a watch pocket added to my pants when the suspender buttons are put on and the leg length adjusted. Pocket watches are also good with vests - I have several of those.
i really like Bulovas, i will be purchasing two watches soon and give you a review. i have 2 vincero watches and honestly i was not happy, they look nice but honestly very cheap. The handles messed up within a few weeks of wearing it without doing any extreme physical activity. When contacted customer service they never replied back and up to this day waiting on a response. Never again.
The Explorer is a true under the radar gem. Unfortunately, it is not the perfect watch. The main problem is that since it is considered an entry level watch, the want and desire to swim upstream is really hard to resist. I think subjectively it may be considered a perfect entry level Rolex. As for the one watch to rule them all, Daytona Ceramic, you pick the dial color.
Tom Low save up for it, you will be glad you did......or find a retailer that offers zero interest if purchased over time. That’s what I did. Love my Explorer. Mark
They didn’t really go into too much detail about the actual specs of the watch. It’s most likely the new 214270. Unless he bought it used, in which case it’s either a 14270 or a 114270.
When you were asking for opinions as to what watch you should purchase first, if you look back you will see one of my suggested timepieces to you was the Rolex Explorer 1, as this is a very versatile timepiece, especially for someone who is interested in clothing and what matches. The Explorer is a nice size for you (you are NOT a tall or large man) so dimensions fit your size, the qualities of the watch are simply classic, as the Explorer 1 can be dressed up or down depending on your circumstances. With a rubber strap it can be worn on the beach or in shorts for the summer weather, or with a nice metal bracelet up to a suit or if you wish to step it even more with a high quality plain leather strap for suits through a tuxedo. Of course there are many kinds of leather straps out, so you can dress the watch to match ANY OUTFIT you can come up with. My recommendation for you, was and still is the Rolex Explorer 1.
If asked for advice/guidance I would never steer anyone wrong (I guess this comes from guiding & training sailors for so many years) as anything I would suggest whether that be watches (I’ve been collecting for 25+ years) or clothing would be something I would use/wear myself. It is the clothing that YOU suggest that I take in for consideration, as it appears to be similar to what I prefer.
My perfect watch: affordable stylish date I love watches. But I also question why I need one (or many). There are so many places I can look for the date and time! My last boss never wore a watch. He said "I can look at my phone." He was always late for meetings. :-) My ex-girlfriend questioned my sanity when she saw how many watches I had. During our year and a half together she bought me two watches!! Like The Doors said "People are Strange."
One of my major pet peeves is when someone makes a purchase and then puts it out to mass consumers to justify for them why it was such a great purchase.
The perfect Rolex for me is a SKY-DWELLER, Oyster and white gold with the blue dial. The beauty of having time zone 1 and 2 , the date and month displayed so flawlessly is just perfection in my mind. If you can afford just 1 premium watch only then this is the perfect one.
If - according to the Swiss - a quartz watch can't be considered to have complications because it uses a battery, motor and computer chip then a watch where computers are used in the manufacturing process can't be "perfect".
the only rolex explorer for me are the 36mm ones. i stick with my speedy. the only thing is it is not swimm proof. 5 atm but the rest is 100 times better than any rolex in that price range.
Yes $6k for a Rolex is just as much as a car that many people drive. But.... the Rolex will gain value every year. That $6k car will lose value the more miles it’s driven. What is a true investment that you can enjoy and take with you for years?
No it's too small and the case shape doesn't look good on other straps imo. My perfect watch is the Speedmaster saphire on a Rolexes oyster bracelet. Yes it fits.

Regarding your e-mail yesterday yes I am subscribed to rmrs
Thanks Perth WAtch, I’m flattered! If you use our system, you can buy that Hublot and wear it for FREE or dang close to it!
What's the name of the song you use in your intro? It's dope!
I own the Rolex Explorer 214270...It's the best timepiece I've ever owned...Accurate...Reliable....BEAUTIFUL....🕒
I'm not a Rolex guy. However, they hit it out of the park with the Explorer.
Agree 😁
LOL this watch hasn't changed much in 60 years. It is not like this style is new.
woodstock 60 years and it still looks like one of their better models 👀
I thought vincero was the perfect watch?
oh oh what did you just say? lol.
Only when they pay him.
You forgot MVMT
And original grain?
lol! Made my day! hahaha :D ;)
perfect watch in what sense? value preservation or creation? i felt that since explorer 1016 is getting more and more expensive, perhaps the tritium 14270 (from 1989 to before early 1998) should be the next inline to grow in value while you enjoy the watch by wearing it on a daily basis to watch the gradual beauty of the patina on the dial. you are the real man, you always recommend good people for us, thank you so so much
Factical - thanks for being here. appreciate it!
👍 Mark
Perfect. I have a Rolex Explorer 114270. I love it.
Way to go Antonio! I LOVE mine. It’s my favorite of all of my watches.
Not sure there is a perfect watch, that's why I have six. Each fits a need or a look I want at on any given day.
Robert Sullivan choice is the spice of life. 👍Mark
904L scratches easier than 316L but its better for salt water corrosion resistance. I learned this the hard way on my GMT II BLNR
I got one and love it. The best everyday watch in my opinion.
That watch could become a family heirloom wow.
Absolutely!
Hey Guys - Derek here the guy that was hiding behind the Camera :)
Big thanks to Antonio for linking to us in this video!

What watch did you get for $400? Also, can you expect to receive a discount if you are buying multiple Rolex watches - if so, how much?

Mathias Mehari and softer in fact,
movement watches aint good enough for you now?
Patrick Stevens I noticed what you did right there 😆
The "good deal" he got on this watch, I assume is discount for having to do these marketing videos for it. At least that would explain why he's been mentioning it rather often lately.
They must’ve stopped paying him
For me , it’s the datejust . I really can’t get myself to buy a watch without a date complication !
I have one question: Is there anything wrong with hoodies and if so, what are the problems?
Great video as always! I'd like to see your thoughts on the various smart watches out there - I'm sure sport smart watches aren't your thing, but there are a few luxury smart watches I'd like to hear your opinion on.
Check this out: www.realmenrealstyle.com/guide-to-smart-watches/
My favorite Rolex is the new Explorer in 39mm with lume on the numbers. It's perfect.
I thought you bought a yachtmaster, did you buy 2 or changed it?
I bought 3 actually.
Antonio, that is a beautiful watch that you purchased. Congratulations!!!
Jp Jp - Thank you!
What kind of bird is making that sound
Torn between the Explorer I and the Air King. I'm leaning Air King, but both are terrific watches.
Hublot? Watch nerd? Hahaha
Sorry if this is out of the topic but i would like to ask if a one button suit jacket is suitable for an interview. Thank you for your help.
Yes I too have it
I love the birds in the background as I look out my window and everything is buried in the snow!
I have owned an explorer for 12 years it's great
Awesome! :)

Rolex is the only watch that is really waterproof? That's an interesting statement. If so, why do they have different water resistance ratings?
Waterproof is a legally protected term that can only be used for certain Rolex models. Other brands will use terms like water resistant.
Þorkell Sigvaldason my casio all plastic watch cost me 20 buks thats what i call good price and it also is water proof. I use it at work when i go to the beach etc etc.

Hey Dennis - Just read about it here: www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=120138
Real Men Real Style That's the article!
As a segue to this subject, I added an Omega Seamaster to my collection because of the Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig Bonds who wore it. : )
The no date Submariner is the perfect watch in my opinion!
A great watch no doubt.
might get one soon and review it on my channel! not sure if i should wait for the pepsi gmt, what do you think?
Get the Submariner, It's already your perfect watch and its one of the more recognizable watches which should help get you a few more views when you do the review. Can't go wrong ether way though!
thanks for the feedback!

Joseph DeMarco the rolex explorer is 39mm
Wayne Storey you are correct sir
Can you guys feature Patek Philippe timepieces next? their 5180 is by far the best in my opinion 😍
This is a great watch. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't have a date window. Other than though it's nearly perfect.
What’s the price range for the watch?
Interesting point that nobody seems to mention. The Explorer is actually 39.5mm. Compare that to the OP 39 which is actually 38.5mm. It's no wonder the explorer wears bigger
Really like the Explorer 1 in the latest reiteration. Very versatile timepiece!
I love the Explorer in terms of its look, but unfortunately with my wrists I need a 44mm + watch or else it looks too small.
How did you get a “great deal” on a Rolex when AD’s are not allowed (by Rolex) to discount the price?
Jonathan L they’re not allowed to sell them direct to grey market dealers (for a kick back) but they do that too!
Sorry Antonio, it’s the GMT Master II in blue and red, or classic Omega Speedmaster Proffessional (Moon watch) for me.
Great Choices!
Rolex Explorer is a timeless classic, well balanced time piece. You see perfection in its imperfection. That is why it is the perfect watch when you own a Rolex Explorer.
Rolex submariner takes the cake for me
Yes
The perfect watch is a pocket watch that keeps accurate time. And it doesn't have to be expensive. That's why I get a watch pocket added to my pants when the suspender buttons are put on and the leg length adjusted. Pocket watches are also good with vests - I have several of those.
Superlative chronometer means that it still meets cosc standards after casing...
I like the Air King more.
You can buy like three brand new Rolex Explorer with the price of the Hublot he is wearing!! Crazy stuff man...
Got a Spring Drive, i'm quite happy with it thanks lol. The Explorer is one of the nicer Rolex to be fair though.
i really like Bulovas, i will be purchasing two watches soon and give you a review. i have 2 vincero watches and honestly i was not happy, they look nice but honestly very cheap. The handles messed up within a few weeks of wearing it without doing any extreme physical activity. When contacted customer service they never replied back and up to this day waiting on a response. Never again.
So you went for the black explorer as I tought.
I'm looking to buy this watch very very soon!
Love that plan!
Great to hear that Andrew!
Real Men Real Style Antonio, what happened to the Yatchmaster that you recently bought? Is the Explorer an addon?
Update: I'm now a proud owner of an Explorer 1!
Congratulations!
No the GMT MASTER II is the perfect watch but the explorer 1 is the watch i want next
Nah I'll stick to vincero and the 5th as recommended by antonio 😬
I agree. It's a true James Bond. Understated, over accomplished, swimsuit to suit and boot, meet the parent to a rock concert.
I love the explorer too! Just cannot afford it :P
Tom Low save up for it, you will be glad you did......or find a retailer that offers zero interest if purchased over time. That’s what I did. Love my Explorer. Mark
Sir, what is this model of rolex retailing currently?
Omar Farhan Khan 5000-8000 euros or 6.203,47- 9.925,56 USD
Jean-Louis Stevens thank you.
Dear sir why is there a price difference of 4000$ USD?
Do they have different variations of the same model.
They didn’t really go into too much detail about the actual specs of the watch. It’s most likely the new 214270. Unless he bought it used, in which case it’s either a 14270 or a 114270.
Wow, Casey is a very cool guy, love him!
Chris Peng thanks! Must’ve been some great video editing 😂😂
The perfect Rolex watch is the No Date Subamariner 5513. In fact this can be your only "One" watch.
wow stepped up your watch game from mvmt to rolex! quite the upgrade.
Hey Nathan - Great seeing you here!
2 things: it’s not just for gents.. and the 36mm is the best model Explorer.
I love it...I want one....I will get one.....
Thank you Louis! I've had a lot of suggestions and yes, some of it including yours were the Explorer 1.
Yet if I get another Rolex, I will opt for the explorer, or the Tudor Black Bay Dark.....which will be a birthday present to me...
Excellent choice... that's what I suggested. Perfect watch.
:)
Hey Antonio
Where did you get this awesome navy shirt from?
Kind regards
Jasmin Andjelkovic
Extra 5mm*
I just got an Executive Windsor, pretty nice too
Indeed!
My perfect watch:
affordable
stylish
date
I love watches.
The datejust 41 is the perfect watch, but the Explorer is in my top 3.
One of my major pet peeves is when someone makes a purchase and then puts it out to mass consumers to justify for them why it was such a great purchase.
Wow Antonio, that shirt looks incredible!
Thanks Nerothos!
I like your style :)
Bull's eye ... since bought the rest of my luxury watch collection sits and waits ... ;-/
Great content. Thank you for the information. Love #Hublot ❤️
Explorer is one of the best Rolex make, period.
Any Rolex steel sports will hold its value better than most cars.
My watch for exploration purposes is the Seiko Alpinist. 😍
Antonio you should feature Christian from Theo and Harris in a video!
absolutely
I thought I already did?
Not that they’re not very good but at that pricing point, there are many others I’d rather have.
Like what a speedy?
Nice
That is great watch. My goal is the Rolex Hulk Baby. Semper Fi
Watches are awesome👍👍👍👍👍👍
If - according to the Swiss - a quartz watch can't be considered to have complications because it uses a battery, motor and computer chip then a watch where computers are used in the manufacturing process can't be "perfect".
i can tell you guys. expensive is good . that simple.
the only rolex explorer for me are the 36mm ones. i stick with my speedy. the only thing is it is not swimm proof. 5 atm but the rest is 100 times better than any rolex in that price range.
I'll buy it if it comes with free shipping.
I think the adjustment is a little more than an extra half a millimeter.
"Finest watch on the planet" is a stretch.
Yes $6k for a Rolex is just as much as a car that many people drive. But.... the Rolex will gain value every year. That $6k car will lose value the more miles it’s driven. What is a true investment that you can enjoy and take with you for years?
Antonio, did you end up picking up an Explorer as well? 😎👍
rolex is king
Talking about explorer without the explorer
nothing beats my adventure time watch :v
No it's too small and the case shape doesn't look good on other straps imo.
My perfect watch is the Speedmaster saphire on a Rolexes oyster bracelet. Yes it fits.
YouYouYou!!! Just get mvmt
Rolex Sub No Date the best!
