Thanks for the reaction! LOVEBITES are the GODDESSES of heavy , power , thrash metal ! In 2018 , LOVEBITES won the prestigious Metal Hammer GOLDEN GODS Award for "Best New Band" (London,UK). The winners of the GOLDEN GODS Award in different years and in various categories were such famous bands and musicians,such as : Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister, Zakk Wylde, Nikki Sixx, Joe Perry, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Slayer, Saxon, Nightwish, Rammstein, Sabaton, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy (and this is not a complete list).
LOVEBITES is a Japanese female power metal band, formed in 2016 by former Japanese heavy metal band DESTROSE members Miho( bass,backing vocals) and Haruna(drums). The band has successfully performed at various major international rock-festivals many times .In the spring of 2018, LOVEBITES performed on the Japanese leg of the Warped Tour. In August 2018, they performed at Wacken Open Air (Germany), becoming the first Japanese female rock band to perform at the festival. Also in August 2018 they performed on the main stage of Bloodstock Open Air (UK). In 2019, LOVEBITES performed at the Download Festival in both Donington (UK) and Madrid (Spain). Their performance in Donington was named by the festival organizers and Metal Hammer magazine as one of the highlights of the festival! In the same year they performed at the Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium) and the Summer Sonic Festival (Japan). Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic that began in 2020 prevents LOVEBITES from performing at festivals and forced a drastic reduction of concerts.
LOVEBITES is a phenomenal band, all the ladies are talented musicians! For 5 years they have recorded about 50 songs and all the songs are very good!
🐺Miho - bass, backing vocals (in August 2021 she left the band).
🐺Haruna - drums.
🐺Midori - guitars, backing vocals.
🐺Miyako (Mi-Ya)- guitars, piano, keyboards, backing vocals.
🐺Asami - lead vocals, piano.
🐺Fami - bass (since October 2022)
🐺Miho started playing bass in high school. Great bass player! The fact that such a wonderful band appeared is, first of all, the merit of Miho. She came up with the idea of starting a band and what kind of music the band would play, a combination of power metal and "old school" heavy metal. Miho was able to find and unite all these talented ladies in LOVEBITES.
🐺Haruna has played drums since she was thirteen years old, and began writing songs on a keyboard at fourteen.
Haruna is the smallest (4 '9 ") , but appearances are deceiving. When Haruna sits down at the drums, this is the "little BIG Engine." She is one of the best drummers in Japan.
🐺Midori (blond hair) has been playing the piano since she was two years old and the electric organ since she was eight. She started studying guitar at the age of 20. Super guitarist, "Crazy Shredder". She surpasses many male guitarists in speed and technique of playing the guitar.
Graduated from ESP / MI JAPAN Osaka , GIT-DX department (superfast guitar department). ESP / MI JAPAN Osaka is an international music school , headquartered in Hollywood, California, USA.
🐺Miyako (black hair) has been playing the piano since the age of three, received a classical education (piano) and wanted to pursue a career as a pianist. She has been playing the guitar since the age of 18. Super guitarist! They call her "The Golden Touch" and she is a real musical genius. Miyako is the main composer of the band, she wrote over 50% of the music.
* In terms of teamwork , synchronization and harmonization of guitars , Midori and Miyako today are perhaps the best pair of guitarists in the world playing metal. One music critic said that two guitarists of this level (Midori and Miyako) in the same band is a crime!😊
🐺Asami started with R&B and soul music . She studied classical ballet for about 16 years (this is noticeable in her movements on stage, especially the movements of her hands). Started ballet lessons at the age of two. After leaving school, Asami lived for some time in the US, where she came to study jazz and hip hop dance. Plays the piano. Asami wrote most of the lyrics of the band's songs.
All songs LOVEBITES are written in English. Unlike other metal bands, LOVEBITES are always on stage in white dresses . White dresses are their style. The Wolf is the mascot of LOVEBITES and is featured on all band's albums except the first EP "The Lovebites". The band's fans call themselves the 🐺Wolfpack🐺
So good to hear old school metal with a new twist. Lovebites is awesome. Nothing more metal than 5 foot nothing ladies from Japan slaughtering those riffs with high heels and a smile. That double kick by Haruna and those two solos....So good.

Their heights go from 4'9" (Haruna the drummer) to a towering 5'2" (stage left guitarist Miyako). This song is special because it is the only one that Miho, the bassist, and Miyako composed together. Because of Miho's departure from the band, there will never be another one. My vote for next song is Set the World on Fire from the concert early last year

Asami, vocals is 4'10', Miho, bass and Midori are 5'. Fami the new bassist is taller than all of them!!
Although Miho can never be replaced as such, Fami does have song writing abilities so we can hope that her and Miyako will be able to compose songs together.
@@Glynthepin I need to become more familiar with Fami's original work. Miho has proven to be a very good song writer and she is metal to the core which is why she will be missed beyond her playing ability. Fami's next level playing ability is obvious and she likely was an unanimous choice which means both Haruna and Miyako approved. I have no doubt that Fami's songwriting will improve because of Miyako just as I have no doubt Miyako's songwriting expanded because of Miho.

Miyako the guitarist on the right looks emotionless cause it was the the way she was taught as a pianist. She carries over that persona into her guitar work. Off stage and at home home she is a total nerd. She laughs, makes fun of herself and likes to take apart her guitars to get the sound she wants. Changes the stock pickups to Fishman brand and replaces the tone Capacitor for a more Bassy tone. She likes Star Wars and even named her dog after a charector in the movie. On her Baby Grand Piano she has models of R2-D2 ans BB-8 sitting on top of it. Also an animal lover. Has a Ball Python, a parakeet and an Owl. A very sweet lady.
Oh BTW she is 5'2" tall.

There are over fifty absolutely amazing Lovebites songs for you to listen to! This is the band! My school is Thrash Metal, I've been a drummer for forty years and I've heard so many bands in my life that I have no idea anymore. But when I met these amazing girls, they ripped out my soul! Lovebites is a reinvention of everything Heavy Metal has been able to create. For the record, Asami was a soul music and blues vocalist in nightclubs in Tokyo and was introduced to Metal in 2016!

Indeed, the recording (sound) of the performance at "Bloodstock Open Air" turned out to be bad, but LOVEBITES are not to blame. Their performance was worthy of the main stage, as the press wrote about.
History: The announced performance on the main stage of the festival by SUICIDAL TENDENCIES fell through. And to correct the situation, unexpectedly for everyone, the organizers of the festival moved the performance of the young band LOVEBITES to the main stage! It was unexpected for everyone! There was practically no time for the technical staff to prepare the performance. To accuse the sound engineers of "destroying the concert" is not entirely fair.

"That was awesome." Every single song by Lovebites 😀 Break The Wall, is a great example of the differing styles between Midori and Miyako. They can both switch their styles but generally stick to the formula demonstrated here. Most reactors to Lovebites quickly run out of words to describe them as each song has it's own level of epic-ness. A general stand by word is 'relentless'.

I think my favorite LoveBites song that I've heard so far is "Winds of Transylvania." Another one to check out is "Brave-hearted," which they have a shortened version of the song to introduce their new bassist.
Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). This song and this particular performance is my favorite thrash song ever, and I love thrash. 50+ years of metal listening, and at 63 I never imagined I would find my favorite band. Led Zeppelin, Perth, Exodus, Meshuggah..... freaking awesome bands, Lovebites stands tall.
The encore set opening is my all time favorite song (actually two songs). The Awakening/ The Hammer of Wrath.
The japanese metal scene is really, really talented, with bands likes Maximum the hormone, Nemophila, Band maids and Lovebites is the best of all. For your next react, you have a lot of choice, they don't have weak songs. If you want mid-tempo songs : Epilogue, frozen serenade or Empty Daydream. Trashy : Thunder vengance or winds of Transilvenia. Heavy metal : The hammer of Wrath or shadowmaker. Hard rock : Burden of Time, Liar or Spellbound. Progressive : Edge of the World. You have a lot of choice, enjoy !

From smallest to tallest: Haruna drums 🥁 is 4' 9"; Asami lead vocalist 🎤4' 10" ; Midori blond guitarist 🎸 4' 11"; Miyako dark haired guitarist 🎸 piano 🎹 primary composer and arranger WAS the tallest at 5' 2" but has been passed for that by LOVEBITES new bassist FAMI who I believe is 5' 6" not only the tallest member of LOVEBITES but also the youngest at 20 years old!! The other ladies of LOVEBITES are all early 30s. Fami is an amazing bassist and has her own CZcams channel. If you get a chance check out her bass cover of a song called Alien Alien.. crazy and amazing playing style. Referring you there to check her playing but will say that the vocals on the song sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks 🐿 😏 or the Chipettes to keep the all female theme going!!
You just jumped from the frying pan into the fire. I was already hooked after 3 songs but this is the one that convinced me they belong among the all-time greats. There are a lot of bands with great guitarists. There have been few with the luxury of two great guitarists. I go all the way back to Allman/Betts and Allman/Clapton, and I’ve never heard another song with two solos that were so great yet so different. This captures perfectly the contrasting styles and personalities of the two guitarists-Midori the extrovert and shredding demon, Miyako the introvert and goddess of blues (who can also shred when she feels like it). I was already hooked on Lovebites, and sold on the dual leads, but this is the song that completely sold me on just how great they are. Really nothing like them, ever.

Her speciality is 'slap bass' ,so she might bring another dimension to this talented band and an in'fusion' (pun intended) of genres.

I laugh each time I see Asami trying to shush the crowd from cheering on every other back beat in the bridge. It doesn't really take away from the performance; it's just one of those beautifully human and vulnerable moments between the audience and the emcee, a role which Asami fills to perfection, even if she's thinking to herself. "Oh, the hell with you -- I love you guys anyway!" Oh yeah, and the rest of the band is pretty good, too 😉

Staying in Japan, I would like to recommend that you check out a band that plays death metal, gothic metal and progressive metal, they are Unlucky Morpheus, and the song, there are so many that are just too interesting, but the one I recommend is " BLACK PENTAGRAM " , I am more than sure that you will not regret it!
Next should be Set the World on Fire and Winds of Transylvania. Both bangers.
It's always a joy to follow people reacting to and discovering Lovebites! They have three main live concerts available to grab on DVD/Bluray (probably more as mini CD/album releases.. J-bands seem to do that a lot) - DAUGHTERS OF THE DAWN (2019), FIVE OF A KIND (This is from this gig, as was "Holy War" from your first reaction, 2020) and HEAVY METAL NEVER DIES (2021). Looking forward to seeing more from you guys on the matter of these ladies. Other tracks I can recommend (along with other fans I'm sure) are "Thunder Vengeance", "Set The World on Fire", "Swan Song", "Shadowmaker", "Winds of Transylvania", to name but a few..

Every song from this Band is AMAZING my friends. Pick up once randomly, your reaction will be always the same.....and we're talking about 50 songs and more. My personal suggestion is "The Hammer of Wrath" or "Edge of the World" from this same concert, or "Bravehearted" from Daughters of the Dawn tour in 2019 (my favourite one).

I'll second Ponyboy Curtis' suggestion of Swan Song [+Chopin Intro]. That song, or Empty Daydreams, with a Rachmaninov Intro, are the only ways to start to understand just exactly who and what Miyako (black haired guitar, piano, keyboards, keytar, background vocals, main Composer, guitar nerd, and Ice Queen) is . . . an F-ing Musical Genius. you guys should check out a band called unlucky morpheus - unending sorceress or black pentagram, you guys will love them just as much as lovebites, and if you guys like dimash you guys will love sohyang she’s the goddess of vocals. try sohyang- bridge over troubled waters or i have nothing, both are renditions of 2 great songs.

Believe me guys, with Lovebites you're going to enter a rock universe that wraps a lot of different genres and mix them all in such a great way. Thrash, power, hard & "soft" rock, progressive... Everything is allowed for these ladies. Like you, Ron, i'm not a power metal enthusiast at all, but this band has made me love almost all of their songs, cause they are great performers, of course, and great composers as well. I'm not going to tell you which one would be the following song you must check, I think the Wolfpack is gonna guide you through this road full of awesome surprising stuff and masterpieces, enjoy it.

Masters of Metal, Angels of Steel! (I wonder if anyone will get this allusion.) As regards "Break the Wall", I may be repeating myself, but the main riff strongly reminds me of the one starting 34 seconds into Testament's "Over the Wall". For verification purposes, check out this clip: czcams.com/video/lqlHxV9Pvcc/video.html Also the sound (or is it tone?) reminds me of Testament's debut (my favourite album in 1987), only that Lovebites' live production is better. For next songs, the old school Thrash Metal fan in me seconds the numerous suggestions of "Set the World on Fire" and "The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath" or the Power/Thrash Metal hybrid "Winds of Transylvania", but if you want to get to know different sides of them, "Epilogue", "Raise Some Hell", "Edge of the World", "Frozen Serenade", "We the United" or "Spellbound" are about as good. I might not like all their songs the same, but there isn't a single one I don't like. So I'd say you can't go wrong with whatever you pick.

I had to go back to this one. There is something incredible about watching grown men being excited like kids on Christmas 😀 A proper feel-good moment and proof of the power of music.
You could choose ANY songs of them! All of those are very, very good! I prefer live versions, because you can see what they are capable of, but any versions are good. One thing you must know. As much as you diving into Japanese music, the more you gonna understand that they are capable to perform live everything they are doing in studio. Very often, even better! They are dedicated and awesome musicians who love their job! All of Japanese bands! I'm not Japanese (European man), but I could tell you that I never heard some of them unprepared for the gig or whatever... You already start with "Nemophila", "Band Maid", "Lovebites" and "Hanabie", but they are numerous others, as well! Japanese rock like a Champs! My favorite are "Unlucky Morpheus", symphonic/power metal band, with great musicians, beautiful (and very talented, as well) singer Fuki and violinist Jill! If you like, you could check them... My favorite songs are live versions of "Angriffer" (song about man turning into vampire, where Fuki sing like a human side, and Shiren (guitarist) growl like vampire side!) and "Dignity of Spirit" (10 minute concert version where you won't feel that 10 minutes passed!), and studio version of "Cadaver/Revadac", unique song where they play first half of the song normal, and second half in backward! You look like musicians, and you probably know which skill you need to write such song to not sound like a s***h! And they succeed! My other favorite (and interesting) band is "Broken by the Scream", funny combination of 3 very good musicians (drum, bass and guitar) and 4 girls singing. Catch is that 2 girls singing ""clean vocals", one of them is "high-pitch screamer" and one is "low growling"! Sounds crazy, and it is, but somehow awesome! For start you could try their little older song "Sayonara Birthday" (just to use to girls) and then any songs from them MV or alive! There are zillion of good bands from Japan, and Ićm sure I missed some of them, but they are (all) very very good and interesting!
