  • Here it is, my comprehensive Clutch/Flywheel replacement video. As with all of my videos they are made for inexperienced mechanics so my apologies to those who don't need all the detail. If you have any questions about anything or need some more detail feel free to ask. Full parts list is included at the bottom of this description. 2 things I should make more clear: When separating the transmission from engine do not apply too much side-side or up-down force, also if you use my method to remove the pilot bearing, clean up the excess grease once it is removed.

    I was 19 with my first g35 coupe and found this video to swap out the clutch

    I’ve sent over 20 people the link to this video so they can do it there self and not pay a mechanic over 3,000

    Thank you for the great video, it was very informative and followed this to change my clutch and flywheel on my RHD 350z HR. Because of the slight difference in vehicle, there were a few small differences such as starter motor being on the other side of the bell housing and having to remove the clutch line that goes to the internal concentric slave cylinder. You managed to break the job into small, clear, easy to follow steps so that anyone at home could follow along, so great job. Keep up the good videos/work!

    Your pilot bushing idea of filling the cavity with grease was amazing! Fortunately I had the perfect bolt with a smooth shoulder like you used and out it came. Thank you for the idea!

    I wish you lived close to me. My clutch is finally going on my beloved 2004 G35 Coupe, and I don’t remotely have the funds to pay for a pro job. 😖
    This is a fantastic and thorough video. Yet as I watch, it’s setting in that this is a near impossible task to do on my own. I have no idea what I’m going to do, but I will not give up.

Will be replacing with lightened flywheel manufactured by Exedy. Gonna have to pull some favors from buddies to use their lift, cause I'm not doing this on jackstands.

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  Před 4 lety +1

      Sorry, I don't have access to an automatic G to film. Except for the difference of how the transmission bolts to the engine and obvious lack of clutch and flywheel, the process would be very similar to get access to the rear of the engine. Thanks for the compliment.

    I need to understand what sorcery you possess in regards to getting the bracket on the top of the engine towards the back, closest to the firewall. The bolt that is under the bent portion of the bracket (kind of hidden) it's an absolute pain to get to, any tips? I have an automatic 04 but the process is relatively the same, the difference between the manual and auto when it comes to this point is the dipstick for the trans is attached to that same bracket. Any help would be appreciated!

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  Před 2 lety

      Sorry, I'm not sure about the auto trans removal.. I can only assume that there's slightly less room to get at the bolts because the manual, although difficult, was not impossible. I tried to explain as much as I could, how to reach all of the bolts in my video.

  • @barryspurlock3048

    I just did 350z. The clutch engagement is 1 inch off the floor. Did your engagement stay the same since your install? I'm going to bleed it again because it seems very low.

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  Před 5 lety +2

      I wouldn't say that it's as close as 1" but it is definitely picking up closer to the floor than the worn out clutch that it replaced. I had to relearn how to shift my G35 but now I'm used to it after several hundred miles. This is normal due to the increased friction material which means you will need to press on the clutch pedal more to disengage the additional thickness of material. A bleed might help you out. I have a video about bleeding/flushing the clutch fluid here: czcams.com/video/47mmWuYw2Ic/video.html Good luck.

    Can you help me with two questions?
    The first one is did you lose any transmission fluid when you are trying to drop the transmission down? Cause if you do, you have to add some more in after you got the transmission back in right?
    The second one is where can I buy or download that shop manual? I do have the Haynes Manual but I don’t like it because it doesn’t go into detail like the one you have.
