A couple free dlc updates for this game could really make it great. Over The Hedge, Monsters VS Aliens, some quality of life improvements? Would really make it a lot more enticing

Not sure about in this game, but the common understudy voice for Po from Kung Fu Panda (who would replace jack black in all non film media) is Mick Wingert, the voice of the talking flowers in mario wonder

The most annoying thing comparing tho is people either..
A: Never giving them a chance because Mario Kart exists or calling them a Ripoff..
Or
B: Playing said kart racer like Mario Kart and end up being bad at it, CTR Nitro Fueled is a BIG example.
Other racing games at least have an Adventure and or Challenges, something Mario Kart really lacks.
Now don't get me wrong i love mario kart, but even i get sometimes bored with and see what other kart racers have to offer!

@Sylvieboy72 because most kart racers that aren't mario kart are almost always poorly made, they are usually Graphicly bad,dull art style,terrible controls and a cash grab
CTR, sonic racing games,Disney speedstorm,kart rider drift are some of the best kart racers along side mario and some even have better features than mario and some have worse but the one thing these games all have in common is that actual effort and time were put into them which I unfortunately can't say the same for this game or the nick racing games
I would love for there to be more amazing kart racers that challenge and even best mario kart but until some actual thought,time and money is put into it mario is gonna stay on top with sonic just right behind
@Sylvieboy72 That's what's funny to me about a lot of gamers. Either they complain and call it a Mario Kart rip-off, so they have no interest in playing it or they'll play it and suck at it because to them it doesn't play like Mario Kart. It's like other kart racers can't win with them lol. I feel like other kart racing games are overhated for no reason. I love the Mario Kart series as much as the next person, but I'm not going to pretend it's flawless just because it popularized the genre. Mario Kart 64 hasn't aged well, Mario Kart: Double Dash feels slippery like you're driving on ice, Mario Kart Wii is my favorite game ever but the cpu are brutal asf, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe feels kind of slow on 150cc. 200cc is faster, but it sucks though because you just run into walls from going too fast.
Would have been nice if Ginormica was a character you can play as. Would be funny and interesting seeing her zip around with cars as skates. Along with Moses using a chariot.
Only problem is that there would have to be some extremely limiting factors implemented for balance purposes - at least if they kept her at her gigantic size.
@@BLamb I can see your point. Also, the last time I can recall Ginormica being a playable character in a video game was with the Monsters vs Aliens video game.

Thing is, Andre, that my top 3 "racing" games are:
1) *Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed (PC).*
2) *Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (PS4).*
3) *Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go!! Eternal Wings (PS1).*
So yeah, "Mario Kart" isn't even in my top favorite racing games (point is, I don't think Mario Kart should be used as a "yardstick" for every other racing game IMO).
Crash is #1 for me.👍😎
Nice review, André. GameMill and Bamtang have done some pretty good work as of late. They're not perfect, but you can definitely see the passion in their games for licensed stuff like Dreamworks and Nickelodeon. There's actual effort and creativity! I love it. At the very least an improvement over most licensed games back in the 2000s or so.
It's already a step up from the first 2 nick racing games (same developers and publishers) so Dreamworks is obviously willing to give the team a budget and time, a sequel has potential to be awesome

Looked forward to this game, still am.
I definitely had a feeling it'd be a mixed bag upon release, but I'd still play it for the interactions, the tracks, the locations and nostalgia in this game.
By the way, I hope the Rally Edition (which includes the turtle Oogway and the wolf Death) isn't a limited edition thing.

None of them, not one single other kart racing game can nail the weight and feel of mario kart driving. It's incredible.
Except Crash Team Racing which is always the king
Crash Team Racing imo is much better than Mario Kart. It feels better and the racing is much better paced, however it has a much more competitive feeling that will turn people away in exchange for a more easier feel like Mario Kart

If a sequel is ever made, I hope they'll make tracks based on settings of some of Dreamworks Animated's obscure movies. A few tracks that I think would be cool are Insectopia (Antz), ancient Egypt (The Prince of Egypt), El Dorado (The Road to El Dorado), Tweedy's Farm (Chicken Run), etc.

Still waiting for a kart racer on PC that is anywhere near as good as Sonic All Stars Racing transformed. Even the newer Sonic kart racer failed miserably..

Dreamworks all-stars if you are used to Mario Kart this plays like Mario Kart. Except for when it doesn't play like Mario Kart since it has different items than Mario Kart. But who knows what they do since this isn't Mario Kart.
Certainly a review choice.

Honest opinion, i wasnt sure about getting this game and i only got it because i saw you could play as Farquaad. But once i srarted playing it, i knew i was gonna love it. The game play and the way the karts and the racing works feels so different from mario kart copies and mario kart itself. The troll system and the notes really makes the game it more fun and the fact tjat the characters actually address each other by name is such a cool and unique aspect. The tracks and all the customization on the karts is pretty dope. For the price, i definitely would suggest buying it. Great games like these always lead to something better
The lack of great music is really disappointing. Some of these movies have some of my favorite music ever, and not being able to hear that while racing is a massive missed opportunity. (Especially with Test Drive)
Yeah, Sega All Star Racing Transformed really nailed that aspect. The music used in the game was excellent.

I disagree one the info about the Voice acting because your forgetting that ONLY 1 character from the WHOLE roster that has that character original voice actor from that IPs film did reprise his role which was Ugway from Kung Fu Panda.

The problem of course is its a slightly less good version of mario kart 8 deluxe, and everyone already has mk 8 deluxe.

I know, The Good One: there are the DreamWorks characters and the return of Shrek, Alex, King Julien, Donkey, Fiona, Lord Faquard and Megamind. The Bad: It is that 2 DLC characters; Oogway and Death/Wolf, only 2, should be more characters and new tracks and skins. The ugly one: "I don't know."

Comparing this to Mario Kart is unfair. Its Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 with a Dreamworks coat of paint.
I've only done two cups in the hour since i booted this game up on my PS4.
Its just Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 but with less content, barely any customization (For example you can't use Harold or Mr. Wolf's karts with Shrek) because every characters has a unique set of karts and parts that they are the only one's that can access them.
The tracks don't feel that good compared to what the Nickelodeon Kart Racers series gave us so far.
The game feels slow compared to the Nickelodeon racers.
In other words, Bamtang is probably gonna come out with Nickelodeon Kart Racers 4 next year but here's hoping they get a Dreamworks sequel greenlit by 2025 that will make this first Dreamworks outing a thing of the past. Doing what NKR2 did for NKR1.

People really saying this game better than speedstorm... I can't tell if it's because they just hate disney (Which is understandable tbh after the last years) or if it's because of the nostalgia for the older dreamworks kart racer that was 100x better than this.

Looks good but not at Nintendo switch.
I think there's some overpraise for the controls/feeling. There's no way it feels as good or onpar with Mario Kart, or is even that good generally. Certain instances in other footage has shown the physics has a few problems. You also mentioned "... pummeling enemies with items has them make banter with each other", but from what I seen this only happens during kart collisions, not when enemies hit each other with items. (Team Sonic Racing does both though.)

@@UltimateTS64 Skill problem. I had plenty of online matches from 2019-2021 in Team Online Racing. More than enough people were playing the game; the queuing was just flawed.
@windy3935 How is not being able to find a match because of in your words, a flawed queueing system, a skill issue? 😂. I mean, I enjoy the game, but literally two weeks after it came out, I haven't been able to find a match for years.
@@UltimateTS64 Because you didn't possess the skill in finding matches like other players had; a large part of successful matchmaking was still directly on the player's behalf (with simple actions such as just having more patience). If you wanna talk about truly dead kart racers, download Kart Rider: Drift.
