The most touching line from the movie was âheâs a friend from workâ. A kid from the make a wish foundation asked if Thor could say that line in the movie. An the kid and his family got to get a private screening of the movie. Funny thing is they say that is one of the most memorable lines in the movie. Now that kid will forever be part of the MCU.
The best part is....make a wish didn't make it on time
Valkyrie is not "old," she's the equivalent of an Asgardian adult. She went through some portal and ended up in Sakar shortly after the defeat of the Valkyries at Hela's hands. During Thor's "ride," when they explained Sakar, they explained about the portals and how time is different there. She's probably been there decades though, still mourning the loss of her fellow Valkyries if her drinking is any indication.
Yup, and you've gotta wonder how many people were captured, enslaved, and murdered in those death games so this supposed heroine could get paid.
Seriously, how many normal ass being got torn apart by beasties or stomped into paste by the Hulk because of her indifferent opportunism?

When you asked, "Who you fighting Thor, well it don't matter.." I cracked up laughing. This is MCU.
Thor and Loki are 1500 years old odin's about 5000 years old. Valkyrie age is harder because of the planet sakaar time moves differently. That's why hulk was there longer than the two years our regular time.

The MCU has some terrific team up films but for a solo picture I agree, this is one of the very best.

They take it up to 11 in Love and Thunder, which many people did not like.
But me? The first words out of my mouth, halfway through the movie, were: "they say less is more, and they're not wrong. But sometimes, SOMETIMES, too much is just right."

Also Major, the reason why Thanos never invaded Earth yet was becuz Odin and the Ancient One(sorceress supreme) were both still alive and would of gave Thanos an early funeral!

Major, we knew Loki didn't die. Remember the final scene in Thor: The Dark World showed Thor & Odin having a conversation, but when Thor walked away it was revealed Odin was really Loki in disguise.
Oh, and Hela being Odin's firstborn and Thor's older sister is only true in the MCU, it's a changeup/twist by Marvel Studios. In the comics and in original Norse mythology, Hela is Loki's daughter.
You're right about the Vikings and Thor movies being related to Norway!
Norway is part of Scandinavia, Scandinavia is the homeland of the Norse people (vikings) Norse Mythology comes from them and is the primary inspiration for the Thor stories in Marvel media. Ragnarok is one of the myths in Norse Mythology, it's their apocalypse/doomsday where there is a huge battle and pretty much everyone dies before being reborn.
Yeah Norse mythology and Ragnarok would be similar between the two shows.... as, in the MCU, back in the first Thor movie, it gave a bit of backstory describing how Odin's forces arrived to help defend our world from the Ice Giants.
So the Asguardian people had a presence here in ancient times. So much so, that Norse mythology is based on the Asguardian people and their beliefs. The Norse people got the idea of Ragnarok from Thor's people. How cool is that?
I'm from New Zealand and having Taika Waititi at the helm of this one gave us so many laughs. Especially with Korg. There were so many kiwi phrases and mannerisms snuck in that made it hilarious to watch.
Thor and Dr. Strange together can take on an entire planet!!
I think pausing to talk works great. Because I love hearing all you say, but I don't want you to miss things either.

I do agree....Love and Thunder was by far the worst Thor movie and is in the running for worst Marvel movie. I think Ragnarok worked with the comedy, it was good and didn't make Thor look stupid but like a fun guy you could hang out with. The whole family issues was good... Love and Thunder was about making Thor look incompetent and stupid...plus they didn't even focus on the bad guy. They could have done a lot with him. He was an after thought...they wanted Jane to be the focus. That is what the director said, he didn't care about everyone saying it wasn't a good idea focus on a woman and not Thor in a Thor movie...he basically said he would shove it down our throats and we would like it. So the movie was all over the place, the bad guy didn't live up to his potential and Thor looked stupid and even how they used Jane could have been much better....instead she was used to show how much better a woman Thor could be. Chris Hemsworth said he wouldn't do another Thor movie if they didn't fix it and make it better. So they fired the director. Sad and crazy to think the same director who did Ragnarok did Love and Thunder.

This is my absolute favorite of the Thor movies.
Fun Fact #1: About 80% of this movie was improvised by the actors. Including my favorite scene between Thor and Loki, the "Get Help" scene. That was all Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. LOL!
Fun Fact #2: Thorâs line "he's a friend from work" was suggested to Chri Hemsworth by a Make-a-wish kid who was visiting the set. Both Chris and director Taika Waititi loved the line, and kept it in the movie.
Fun Fact: Director Taika Waititi is the voice for Korg.
Loved the Doctor Strange scene that he has with Thor.
Here we find out what happened to Bruce Banner after the events of "Avengers: Age of Ultron". We meet Valkyrie played by Tessa Thompson. And we learn of Odin's first born daughter Hela. Love Cate Blanchett in that role. And of course, Jeff Goldblum is perfect as the Grandmaster.
Looking forward to "Black Panther" next in the MCU.

Banner and hulk are two different personalities which is why with Bruce dies he turns into the hulk. Which is the only way to kill him for real is as the hulk.

Major, about Norway youâre right. Iâm Norwegian and Norse pagan so a lot of the Thor movies have small amounts of the Norse culture added. Odin and Thor are a couple gods that we worship but there are many many more. Hel (MCU changed it to Hela) and she rules over Niflheim and the dead lost souls. You do not wanna fuck with her, Iâd rather cuddle satan than meet her.
The show Vikings also takes place in Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, and Denmark) and itâs probably the best show to watch when it comes to the Norse people (Vikings)..
Fun fact: Thor isnât fit in Norse paganism, heâs stocky, a ginger, and has a beer gutđđ
Also, Ragnarok is the event of when Odin and his warriors of valhalla battle an army of the dead until the world gets engulfed with fire and oceans. Then the wolf Fenrir will swallow the sun hole leaving the world in darkness

100% the funniest Marvel movie so far. I remember the first time I saw it in theaters 47:25 almost made me pee myself. So unexpected and funny
Odins lost his eye in the MCU fighting the frost giants the knowledge he received was when he saved baby Loki and he saw we're war Leads and it wasn't the only way.
This one was a fun ride, Taika found the perfect balance to the Thor character. Top 5 for me SO FAR:
Winter Soldier, Ragnarok, Civil War, Homecoming, Ultron
Too bad Taika didn't stay with that balance for Love and Thunder. But Ragnarok was a perfect balance. All the family issues were well done and lent itself to being funny, yet serious too.

Taika Waititi is one of the greatest directors I've ever seen. His work on this and "What We Do in the Shadows" (movie and series) have put him in the top comedy directors of all time in my opinion.
I knew this was gonna be a good reaction đ This is my favorite MCU movie, not even close at all.

Another great reaction! When it comes to the characters' ages, Thor is around 1500 years old and Odin is (I think) around 5000 years old, so Hela must be somewhere between the two.
@@mikelarsen5836 to be fair, most of us have the benefit of seeing these movies multiple times, whereas he's watching them for the first time and he has to talk all the way through them because he's making reaction videos. I'm pretty sure I'd miss or forget a few details too if I was reacting to these movies for the first time.

The MCU could have made it whatever number they wanted in order to fit their narrative.
I kinda disagree with Odin's age. In the beginning of this movie, Thor tells Surtur that he thought Odin killed him like half a million years ago. So Odin must easily be older than 500,000 years old đł I don't think asgardians only live 5000 years but if they do, it's probably the regular asgardians. The royalty probably live longer.
We also have to remember, the whole "We are not gods" speech was before the mcu finally decided to go back on that and accepted that theyre actually gods. This is the first movie in which they actually address themselves as gods. Odin calls Thor a god and so does Thor himself. Gods live a lot longer than 5000 years đ Just a wild guess.
The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) is the brother of the Collector, who you met in the Guardians. They are two of the oldest beings in the universe and both quite insane.
Korg is voiced by the director, and he is based on Maori bar bouncers in New Zealand.
Banner and Hulk are separate personalities. Banner has dissociative Identity disorder, but hasn't been diagnosed yet.
Most people don't appreciate how hard it is to pack muscles on a tall frame.
I love the statues on the building of past champions. One of them is Beta Ray Bill, one of Marvel's best "don't judge a book by its cover" heroes. He looks like a demon but is achingly noble.

The Vikings were in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, and other places. A thousand years ago, they invaded everything along the coasts and rivers of Europe.
I cannot believe that they used a comic-accurate helmet for Hela, or that care Cate Blanchette made it look good.
Explanation about comic books and the hammer: if a comic book tells you that something is indestructible, it is so that you will be shocked when it gets destroyed.

Did a quick scan and didn't see it answered so: Point Break is what Tony calls Thor in the first Avengers movie (no hard feelings, Point Break, you got a mean swing), because of his hair and beard he kinda looked like Patrick Swayzes character in the movie Point Break.

Major I just love to watch you Reactions! Fun fact- Tony made Thorâs access to the Quinjet â Point Breakâ as reference to after they had their first fight in Avengers. Point Break was a movie about a group of surfers that were bank robbers. It starred Mr. John Wick- Keanu Reeves!
I think your right about the Norway thing,some of my ancestors came from Norway and even though Iâve never seen the show Vikings my dad did some research on his ancestry and said some of the Vikings depicted in the show were my ancestors.

Thor is 1500 and hela is his older sister, in the comics hela is lokis daughter, to explain Louis look and why he looks more like hela when Odin first picked up baby loki, Loki saw odins memory of hela and modeled himself after her
For me, I classify the MCU movies differently for the stand-alones like this one, versus the Avengers movies, the epic ones that bring everybody together - and this is my absolute favorite stand-alone MCU movie

Also just to let you know, in actual Norse Mythos Hela (actually named Hel) is Lokis daughter not Odins. And Loki and Thor arenât brothers at all, and Odin is actually kind of like a âblood brotherâ in the sense of they did a blood binding thing. Also fun fact Odins beloved steed Sleipnir is Lokis child as well, as we know Loki is a shapeshifter so once he turned into a mare and gave birth to Sleipnir. Heâs also the father of Fenrir, the big ass wolf

It's an emotional symbolism when Odin calls Norway home, because Thor, Loki and Odin are deities from the norse mythology. Very interesting that his death happens at... "home".
It's also (in the MCU at least) where Odin fought his most important battles against the frost giants. Maybe for him dying on the battlefield that defined his reign as king with his sons at his side was meaningful.

26:49 All Asgardians have a base powerset of super-strength, speed, stamina, and durability. Some are in the higher-end like Thor while others in the lower-end like Loki offset that with other magical skills and abilities. That's why Thor was able to go toe to toe with the Hulk in the previous battle before gaining his lighting attacks without having to use Mjolnir.

37:00 Thor's 1.500 years old. I forget which movie, but this was confirmed by Loki, I believe when talking about Thor's love for Jane. Loki's about the same age as Thor. Loki also confirmed that Asgardians live to be about 5,000 years of age on average, thought that might not apply to gods like Odin and Thor, but we shouldn't forget that Thor's grandfather Bor isn't here, so Asgardian gods do die.
By far the best of the Thor movies, this one was great! By the way in the MCU Thor is slightly over 1500 years old and Odin was around 5000 years old when he died. We know this based upon direct quotes from the characters, and the timeline established in earlier films (including when the Frost Giants invaded Earth about 1000 years ago, and the previous Converegence shown in the Thor: The Dark World (when the Dark Elves were defeated and lost the aether) which was confirmed to be 5000 years ago. At that time, Odin wasn't the ruler of Asgard- his father Bor was.
Thor's comment to Surtur in this movie was just an exagerration said as a joke. Like running into someone you haven't seen since childhood and saying "Dude, it's been like a million years". In the comics Thor and Odin are WAY older (Odin was part of a prehistoric Avengers team back in 1,000,000 B.C.) but the MCU is different universe from the comics.
Back when the MCU started in Phase 1, Marvel Studios didn't want to anger religious conservatives so they didn't make the Asgardians actual gods. They were introduced as powerful aliens with long lifespans who had visited Earth 1000 years earlier and were mistaken for gods by the primitive Vikings. The arrival of Asgard's forces to repel the Frost Giant invasion is what inspired humans to create Norse mythology.

We here in a later movie that Thor is about 1,500 years old. So... Valkyrie is some amount older than that. Loki mentions they live 5,000 or so years more than humans, so...
Definitely my favorite as well...I have watched it several times with my family. Everyone loves to hate Loki...he now has become one of my favorite anti hero.
This is also my favorite MCU movie in terms of individual character. I LOVED this movie so much and I think Iâve watched this one more than any other MCU movie.

Norway is apart of Scandinavia, which is where Vikings takes place, Ragnarok and the Norse Gods are Thor, Odin, Loki and so on. As a Norse Heathen I can tell ya, there is a lot of connection however it being Marvel it isnât as close to the actual Sagas. Hel or Hela for example is Lokiâs daughter and she takes care of the underworld, sheâs not a sister.
Ragnarok is when the Gods battle and the world ends and is reborn. đ

Bro almost figured out by himself that Thor, Loki and Odin all are based on Gods from Norse mythology when he heard Odin was in Norway and said The Vikings show also was talking something about Ragnarok as well. I didn't know someone who's a fan of both Thor as a character and The Vikings show that didn't know that Vikings were from Scandinavia and Thor, Loki, Odin, etc from Norse mythology were their Gods back in the days before the spread of Christianity.

Every MCU movie has a different effect based on where it leads to. So it's hard to rank them to be honest. Because some of the movies have things that have relevance to something way later. So when you watch it again after getting further in the MCU you appreciate it more than you did. Its weird how they do that. You will see what I'm talking about the further you get and then watch a old one again. You will notice so much more stuff. Its crazy man.
