- Spider-Verse! Probably the prettiest movie made last year, potentially one of the prettiest ever. One that got great reviews but not as many people as you'd expect went out to see it. Here's why you should definitely go see the next one in theatres! Everything right with Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse!

Miles being black is a huge thing from what I've seen and heard. My favorite story is the time a kid of around 10 or 12 set some Spiderman comics down on a store counter for purchase. The clerk asked who his fave Spiderman was, and the kid got confused cause he only knew about Peter Parker.
The clerk shows him Ultimate Spiderman with Miles and the kid runs screaming to his mom "MOM! MOM! SPIDERMAN LOOKS LIKE ME! SPIDERMAN LOOKS LIKE ME!"
Representation matters, folks.
Damn. I really liked Miles as a kid cuz his suit was dope in the TASM Game
Exactly just because a kid can be inspired by a hero who's from a different background it's always much more impactful to see someone just like you being able to do something so amazing.
And anyone who says otherwise is wrong
Miles is African-American and Hispanic/Latino and has mixed ethnicity.... so yeah sorry to be that person but yeah
Mate, im in my early 30s and watching Across The Spider-verse and seeing an Indian Spider-man still got me in the feels. Never seen a hero that "looks" like me before. Can only imagine what it would have been like as a kid to experience it.

I actually love King Pin being HUGE. He’s intimidating, takes up the whole screen, and FEELS so powerful.
it's also implied that it's all muscle because King-Pin's size is always because of how jacked he actually is. It's never really addressed how strong he actually is in a lot of media other than comics and animations. The live action Movies and shows rarely address that he's practically super human, but feels above getting his hands dirty even though he has shown time and time again that he CAN go toe to toe with Spider-man.
He’s built like a huge wall. It’s perfect for his character.
He is basically a wall a big living moving wall
It's a great design
@@LastKnight0727 Welllll....toe to toe when spidey is holding back. When spidey isn't holding back....jeesh
An honourable mention I’d like to add: Spider-Man B goes the first half of the movie depressed enough that he’s willing to die numerous times, and it’s not until toward the end of the movie he starts thinking he’s not just expendable. This subtle nod to mental health and self worth was really a nice touch. Even a stone in a river can get worn down over time, but with fellow stones beside you, it’s not so bad :)
He's my favorite spiderman specifically for that transformation. The story was about Miles but Spiderman B was all about the feels.
OK, that was beautifully put. As someone who has been walking a long road to fix my mental health, and who has gone almost ten years since my last suicide attempt, I relate to that so deeply. The thing that makes me happiest to still be here is that there are so many opportunities to do good for others; even I'm not expendable, and I can be more valuable alive.
So. I want to give heartfelt thanks for this comment and acknowledgement.Thank you so much. Keep up the good fights, eh.

@@agzzradface3113 I think people kind of miss the point of Cinemasins. Like, it's satire, blah blah blah, everyone knows that, but it's specifically riffing on the nitpicky critique that so many 'critics' had adopted 5, 10 years ago. Now, cinemasins is by no means good, especially the past few years, but you're kinda focusing on the wrong thing. It's not about 'making a list of every perceived mistake' in a movie (even if that _is_ what it's presented as), it's showing the hypocritical outlook a surprising amount of critics have in the cinema industry. You wouldn't trust cinemasins to accurately represent a movie, but how many critics use the same methodology to structure their own legitimate critiques?
A cool detail I loved as an anime fan is that Peni's lips don't always match up with what she's saying. Just like how anime with English dubs never completely line up as well.
Anime with Japanese subs don't match up either. It's a thing wifh the animation process
AND, when you watch the Japanese dub of this movie, the words line up perfectly with her animation!
It always comes down to the fact that the original source material is (nearly) always in Japanese language ... & that the production team is always dealing w/ limits on time & effort.
Watch any of the English-dub kaiju (giant monster) or Hong Kong martial arts genre movies & you'll notice the same issue: the dialog never perfectly matches the onscreen speech movements of the actors' mouths because there can never be a perfect 1-to-1 correspondence between 2 different spoken languages.
Furthermore, w/ most TV series & many cinematic features, anime still faces production deadlines & resource mgmt issues: if more time & effort is devoted to accurate lip-synch between the animation & the voice acting, that could result in missed deadlines or compromised quality in other aspects of the production. Historically, this was a major reason (tho not the only 1!) why so much anime tended to have "wooden" characters or a lot of static-shot scenes.
"Akira" is practically a textbook example of two different things -- lip-synch done right, & the language barrier. The original Japanese language version has stellar lip-synch because it was planned from the outset; the English dub, however, exhibits much of the same issue that other English-dubbed anime does, because it is inherently difficult to shoehorn English dialog into scenes originally animated for Japanese dialog, no matter how much time & effort is devoted to minimize the disparity between the 2.
Ironically, the initial release of the PS4 game "Ghost Of Tsushima" displays the same issue, but in reverse: the cut scenes were animated w/ the English dialog in mind, so when the Japanese language option is selected the lip synch no longer matches the dialog! (This was corrected in the Director's Cut release for the PS5, I believe.)

Questionable Exactly what I was thinking.
This is the first time I agree with this statement
The video should've been about 6 seconds
Exactly! The movie was just lit 🔥🔥
Ok so the movie takes about 1 hour and 56 minutes. Let’s just say the animation is 60 frames per second. That means 1 second = 60 frames. So that means 1 hour is 3600 seconds. Now we are left with the 56 minutes. 3360 seconds is 56 minutes so now we know the movie lasts about 6960 seconds. That means 417600 frames. So then we get 417600 points for the win counter making it the most pointed movie on cinema sins
I love how they utilized the fact that Miles is different with the way he uses his spider powers. Instead of using his webs for transportation, he mostly uses parkour and instead uses his webs for combat which I love

As a personal preference, most of the voices were great while others were terrible (Liz Oct, Nicolas Cage, and Piggy). Also Aunt May, Liz Oct, Green Goblin, and Piggy were so mishandled It killed those parts for me. Everything with Miles, the Peter Parker's, school, (i.e. character things) was beautiful in this movie.
@Julio Sula I expect good quality interesting fights. There were no stakes. there was no hint that anyone was getting hurt. Take a new pounding? Just get back up. Over and over and over again.
Rewatch CinemaWins' video, how much time does he spend complimenting the fights compared to the length of the movie? The fights took almost 30 minutes of a 2 hour movie. That's 25% of the movie. Did he spend nearly any time talking about the fights? No? That should tell you something.
He spent more time talking about the posters in Miles bedroom than the fights. Learn to read between the lines. The fights were BAD. Just plain bad.
My other points stand as well.
@@tomsko863 while the quality of fights is subjective- I would argue that the stakes were high, the Peter Parker here died which was pretty bad. Then, it was a fight to get them back home to their dimensions.

My one issue with this movie (and it’s one of my favorites ever) is how they gloss over Gwen’s trauma. When Peter (burnt out) sees MJ, we get a whole thing about how he’s sorry and how he still loves her and such, but when Gwen sees Peter for the first time, her friend, who died, who is also a spider person, nothing. They never even acknowledge that she’s seeing her dead friend, but we get a whole goofy thing about peters love interest. Just kinda bums me out.
Since she gets blown into the past in Miles's timeline, she actually has to go through Peter dying a second time, which has to be tough. But bear in mind that Peter B Parker is around twenty years older than her Peter, so it's not exactly like seeing her friend in the flesh again.
i think your right tho, but they didnt need it to make the movie great and i dont think there was any way they could have made it as meaningful with the relationships the spidergang had, plus i think it might make for great emotional beats in the next movie

Hey! No spoilers but I just came back to this video. I think you'll be more than happy to know they did this ABSOLUTE justice in the new movie
According to an interview about the "leap of faith/rising" scene, the screenwriters wrote that scene first and then built the entire movie around it/from it (that's how great that visual/scene is)
Interesting..
Think about this: Miles has to be calm and let go of fear to release his grip. When he leaps off the building after embracing his powers, his grip doesn't release, and he breaks the glass. He's scared.

One thing I love about this movie that no one talks about is the fact that Doc Oc makes educational science videos on the side of her supervillain hustle. Imagine being a superhero, getting an alert about a bank robbery or something, and you get there and the villian is Bill Nye!
Imagine you're at the bank making a deposit, the wall explodes, and you hear a voice from the cloud of debris: "Hey VSauce! Michael here. What is money?"
@@NathanPatrickLane ahaha that crack me up xD thanks.

It took me long while to notice this but when all the spider guys are glitching in peters bat man like basement I noticed that spider noir was glitching in black and white which was a nice touch sense he’s in black and white
Coming back to this movie after watching ATSV and [SPOILER ALERT] I love the detail with when both spideys first meet, Miles colors are green and purple, just like the Prowler, foreshadowing how he was supposed to become the Prowler, but then it changes to red and blue, showing how he has become Spider Man. Goes to show how much they planned ahead
It could also be a subtle nod to his blood changing. Turning from his human heritage (prowler) to the spider man dna taking over his body. Also just subtle foreshadowing in general.
Yes or the 42 right in the Beginning showing that it was the Spider from Earth 42. I mean it was kinda obvious since the spider glitched but i really forgot about it
Fun fact (my GF pointed this out) when miles got bit he was taking a photo just like how Peter Parker was bit, while taking a photo (+1 win)
Weldhawk it’s also interesting that the photo is taken with a cell phone, instead of an ‘older’ style of camera. Kind of a nod to how Miles is a ‘newer’ version of Spider-Man than the others; this movie is just so detailed!!
Also (?) peter shakes off the bite in pain n shock where miles kills it nonchalantly
matthew natividad maybe it’s a nod to how, like he was saying, Miles approaches being Spider-Man differently than the others?
What is this wizard craft what are you talking about???

But can we talk about how amazing miles spider sense is? Like it doesn’t go off when peter sneaks up behind him because it knows he’s not a threat. But it also doesn’t go off when uncle aaron enters his home as the prowler because it’s uncle aaron and miles trusts him.
I’ve watched this movie like three times and I haven’t noticed that! Great attention to detail!!

I’m sorry, but I don’t think anyone has talked about this. Do you remember at KingPins party when Peter sees MJ and starts walking towards her? She also saw the news reports of Peter Parker dying in this world. She would have realized that in this world her best friend is A) Spiderman, B) Married, C) Dead again.

It all started right here. This tiny, seemingly insignificant little gag.
One really great thing about the plot is how loss is developed as a theme. Both Kingpin and the Spider-People all have loss someone dear to them. Yet, the good guys are the heroes because of how they moved on from that loss and became something more. Kingpin refuses to accept his loss and that proves to be his undoing.

"I burn my finger once in a while just to feel something"
-spiderman noir
I loved that little scene-and then the match fizzles before it gets to his fingers, highlighting his futile attempts to feel something besides the brooding angst of a tortured soul...or something like that. I like to think he finally found what he was looking for when he says “I love you” to the spider gang right before he goes back to his own dimension. My favorite movie of all time. As a African American male growing up in America and loving spider man but never having a black super hero who I could relate to this movie has provided me with so much that I can't really explain it in words. Thank you to the people who worked countless hours to bring this master piece to life. And the second one was so good as well! This will be one of the greater animated trilogies of all time. Up there with How to Trian Your Dragon and Kung Pu Panda. Like if you are rewathcing this in 2023.
why couldn't you relate to any other superheroes?
Small detail: Miles is given more frames per second as he comes into his role as Spider-Man.
Loved that they did that
It's just generally when he's more confident in himself, when he's spray painting with his uncle he also has more fps, I think in the scene where he's walking past all his friends all confidently too, but it's hard to tell, perhaps its when he feels he fits in.
8:35 stem ?
It's even more than that. They animated the character movements and background/camera movement on different frame rates. HOW the @#&$ do you DO that?! Blood magic. I'm certain blood magic was involved.
When Peter Parker and Peter B Parker got their masks taken off, they both said “that’s a no no.” Proving how great this movie is with minor details.
Edit: Thank you everyone for all the likes
Not to mention the one scene in Miles’s room, all the spider people jumped to the same corner of the room, further showing how they’re all essentially the same person
I think the *WOOOOO* and *AAAAAHHH* is a greater example of detail but I agree ☺
Well all of that just shows how AMAZING this movie is.
Noticed how Miles say "I run faster than I swing" when he's just learning? Well, he actually does run quite a lot more than Peter's Spidey, he bounces on trucks, and walls when he can, and that's another small detail that's gold, at least for me
I noticed that too!
Something I REALLY love about this movie is that they didn’t just make kingpin huge for funsies. In almost every shot he’s in, he dominates. He takes up half of the screen, he controls what you see. It shows his control. Then, when miles gives him the shoulder touch at the end, he’s sent blasting away, off of the screen which he dominated, and loses his control over the camera, and his control in general.its SSOOO GOOD
