- An early morning crash involving a wrong-way driver on the 60 Freeway in Industry killed a child and injured several other people on Wednesday morning. Rick Chambers reports for KTLA 5 News at 10, Mar. 22, 2023.

Before last few years, I'd never heard of so many wrong way deadly crashes.
They're less and less common. Just more news outlets and less news. Same with violent crimes. Watching the news you'd think it's an epidemic but it goes down every single year.
Crime in Los Angeles County jumped 11.6% in 2022. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Easy to research crime stats.
It’s called “sensationalized rhetoric”.
You may think you see more crashes on the news…and maybe you have…
But what the news shows is NEVER going to be a full representation of the entire situation.
I mean…do you read the NHTSA reports every year?
It would tell you very quickly how these issues are minimizing.
YOU read it…and form an opinion.
Don’t form an opinion based off someone else reading something to you.
The news rarely reiterates what is truly important.
They just want to you feel what THEY think is important.
You want an example?
Talking on your cell while driving is listed as a category called “distracted driving”.
“Distracted driving” includes talking on cell, texting, putting on makeup, reading, eating, etc etc etc.
ALL “distracted driving”….equates to appx 2,900 deaths and $6 billion in property damage.
Yearly.
“Failure to indicate” equates to appx 6,000 deaths and $15 billion in property damage.
Yearly.
Not using the blinker equates to over twice as much harm as all “distracted driving” put together.
Why the marketing campaign about the cell phone?!?!?
Where’s the billboards for the blinker?
Where’s the sob stories about the blinker?
Where’s the commercial with the crying mom talking about her kids last ride…withOUT a blinker?
The news sells you what THEY want.
Don’t use the news as ANY sort of substantiation for ANY opinion.
That’s kind of extremely irresponsible and simple to do nowadays.

You’re going to need to do a bit more than click on your “programs” once a night if you want to have any sort of valid opinion.

Same thing happened in Seattle Washington... early morning hours. Two 18 year Olds were killed in that accident. Very sad

Was the car reported stolen right after the crash, or plenty of time beforehand? I saw a guy t bone a car in front of me, i followed him, my daughter called the police. He ran in his home a few blocks away just as the cops were getting to my location, and he ran in his house and changed clothes, but i had him on camera. His mother came out and told the cops that the car had been stolen! So... the thief brought it right back to your driveway?! 🙄 R.I.P to the young angel that was murdered. Deepest condolences to her family. 😢🙏

Do you ever notice that the drunk driver never gets killed 🤔 !
It's because they don't tense up their bodies when they collide. Having your body relaxed helps avoid injuries. I was an EMT for 7 years and it was easy to figure out who the drunk driver was, it was usually the one that was the least hurt.
Satan needs them for the next job.
There is no way you can tell me that we are having the same or lower number of wrong way drivers we had a decade ago. You can thank the lack of respect for the law, legalization of drug usage, and dismissed or reduced sentences of criminals.

Hit and runs are EXTREMELY prevalent. When someone hits me (which is not uncommon) if I can, I immediately put myself in a position to capture their plates (dash cam and repeating it until I memorize it). In my experience HALF of the time they run away. Sadly most of the time it's in a stolen car.
Same got hit not that long ago by some young girls who threw out their weed bags out the car and their car had stolen license plates on stolen car. They just drove away.

Yesterday, when I crossed the street there was a lady made a left turn and run toward at me thankfully my scream and other cars honking at her helped her to stop. Two weeks before that, another lady on on the phone passed red lights almost ran to me and another pedestrian. Happen more often now

What the hell is going on? Why this uptick of wrong-way drivers? This is happening all over. Seems there is at least one a day now.
I know this area. Generally avoid driving at 4am in the morning, get a hotel somewhere and stay the night then continue your journey.

In California, he better watch out. If caught, he'll spend a mandatory two months of hard counseling and then have to do a grueling 30 day house arrest where he'll be forced to watch TV and play video games all day long. It's extreme punishment, but deserved. California doesn't mess around!

The LAPD describes the crime of stealing a vehicle as “just a property crime” and refuse to pursue or enforce the law. Much like the DA refuses to file charges on these people who steal vehicles. There’s always more crime afoot behind “just a property crime”

Of course they're going to run. They're here illegally... drive stolen cars... and run. They're not all like that but there's enough like this that we can't ignore it. I grew up in LA and have seen illegals run from accidents all the time since 30 years ago. This is why we have to carry uninsured motorist driving up our insurance cost. That poor family now has to deal with a loss of a loved one.
