it's pride month so here's a gender-affirming DIY for you! 0:00-0:20 intro 0:20-1:34 ground rules!! 1:34-4:38 making the binder 4:38-6:15 alterations 6:15-6:49 outro
getting a binder always felt like such an investment but this!!! feels far more managable!! and the alterations section is terribly handy so I don't end up just giving up if i get smth wrong!! kudos to you and happy pride!!
nice tut! i love utilising home materials to make gender affirming binders! Yippee! I love how quick and snappy the video is, while still keeping that raw humour in there :)) you're defo gonna go places dude! gah i wouldve needed this when i was younger lol, but not anymore haha
thank you so much. for a long time i've been wanting a binder but i was too scared to ask my mother for one(she's a bit homophobic and transphobic). this video really helped me to make my own. thank you smm
I was excited thinking i could pull this off until i saw that sewing would be involved, and i don't know how to sew, at all, nor do i have a sewing machine. So yeaa, i guess i'll just stick to wearing sports bras and tight tank tops over them. Or at least for now..
You could try hand sewing! All it takes is a sewing needle and thread, and it’s handy to have for regular clothing too (and cheap!). I often use hand sewing for fixing buttons. It takes some time to sew by hand but absolutely is doable, and it’s pretty simple to learn, you just have to learn how to thread the needle and tie a knot, and how to do a basic stitch. The hardest part is cutting the pattern, and I would definitely recommend getting some pins to keep the fabric together so you don’t wind up cutting or sewing the wrong places. Some people will also use hot glue guns in a real pinch so they don’t have to sew, but I wouldn’t recommend this for a binder because the hard residue it leaves on the seems would be uncomfortable for wearing
Question- is it safe to wear a sports bra underneath the binder or does that wear the binder out more?- I got a xs gc2b binder and I got it on- like one would a bra- bc it wouldn't go on the right way- and I had to hudinie my way out of it- and then I got a medium one- unfortunately the xs was black and the medium is gonna be nude#4 closest to my skin tone and it's apparently on the way now and it takes forever😢 but I know it'll fit bc I've had a medium binder- but different type- and I had a small nube #4 binder in middle school and I know the small almost killed me so I think the medium is the right size- and I'm like b maybe c- so small chested and I'm still viewed as a girl in public if I'm not wearing black thick t shirts 😭 I hate it so much.
i know it differs from how fitted the binder is but does it bind like a good sports bra? more? i assume it's less than a proffesional made binder but by how much? i wanna make one for my partner and i have a sewing machine but idk how to use it so if it's worth it i'll learn! ps my partner has a very big chest
@@n.8706 it depends on how tight you make it, and sometimes the materials can alter how it functions (for example, the non-stretchy fabric I like to use is kinda on the rougher side, since it has more of a grip and makes less likely for my chest to slide out of place. Pillowcases feel nicer, but they tend to shape to your chest as opposed to a stiffer fabric). The structure is almost the same to a professional binder, the only difference is how you make it! (Aka the materials you use, any alterations you wanna make, shape and size differences, etc). If you have the materials and you have the patience, I’d say it’s definitely worth a try :D Edit: as some with a larger chest myself (I’m like an F cup but a 28 band size which is super annoying) I find homemade binders more comfortable bc I can make it the shape and size that fits me best with my weird proportions lol
Uhhh well what I use is this fabric I skinned from a couch, which I think is kind of a soft canvas? (I only ever use second hand materials so I’m not really that great with knowing the names of fabrics lol). Also, side note, adding an elastic waistband can be helpful for larger chests (I find it holds everything in place better) but it’s not necessary
If yk me and you see this- no you dont 👀 anyways, this tutorial actually made sense and i understood what i was supposed to do after watching it once- which usually never happens to thats nice, and i agree to the terms and conditions so ill try to make a binder when i go hole in a few weeks ^^ wish me luck lmao
Its safe to wear home made?i wanna binder but I'm sacred to ask my mother but i watch yt videos where they call home-made binder unsafed...I'm so confused.can u please tell me its comfy and safe?
As long as it fits you properly, a homemade binder like this one is just as safe as a store bought one! When people call homemade binders unsafe, they’re referring to the binders not made via sewing
I want to do this but I can't sew but my grandma has a machine but I can't ask her to help me because she's gonna ask what I'm doing and there aint no way I'm coming out as anything to my grandma 😭
Saving this for totally cis reasons

So i have this corset and it makes me really flat without hurting me or restricting my breathing, is it safe??
if it doesn't hurt or restrict your breathing, I'd say it's safe! maybe do a few Google searches just to double check though lol
ignored all instructions. made a decent binder. sewing machine ran out of thread near the end. ended up having to handsew the rest ;-;

also making one for my transmasc friend
