Make paper mache clay smooth without sanding: • Make Paper Mache Clay ...
Ten years ago I became frustrated with traditional paper strips and paste. It took too much time to add all those layers of paper mache, and it was messy.
But I wanted to sculpt, and paper mache was the only affordable option.
That’s why I created this original (and still my favorite) recipe for paper mache clay.
    It’s affordable.
It uses common ingredients that you can find at your local DIY store or Walmart.
And anyone can use it to create beautiful sculptures that we can be proud of. This is not the kind of paper mache you made back in grade school!
I put this recipe for paper mache clay on this blog and on CZcams about ten years ago. It has now been used by millions of people around the world.
You use a knife to apply paper mache clay in a really thin layer over your armature, almost like frosting a cake. It dries hard and strong, so sculptures made with it can be treasured for years.
This is the recipe I used for all the projects in my book Make Animal Sculptures with Paper Mache Clay. amzn.to/1nMUO3a
And this recipe is included in my FREE downloadable guide, "The 5 Best Recipes for Paper Mache." You can get your copy here: www.ultimatepapermache.com/lp...

That is called collaboration instead of competition... sadly something younger people today think they cannot do. In real life artists are supposed to exchange and collaborate, that's how advancements and great ideas happen. Some even can share projects...believe it or not. You know what makes that not possible? Competition. Keep secrets of the trade, and rating other artists and deciding who deserves to be shared with and who doesn't... or making people pay for your information is the same as globalization and unless your selling your own putty or glue it's exactly what she called it, a recipie....art is about collaboration. See how not worried she is about teaching you how to make paper clay...see how she encourages you to try something new and let's you know what other artists have shared with her?
News flash, mass production wouldnt make these with this formula...so I dont see the danger in collaborating as artists....I think I have a problem with young artists thinking there is some benefit from not sharing with others... it's not generous its human.

It sometimes takes a few tries before they'll point you in the right direction. In addition to drywall it's also called plasterboard, (as you know), and Sheetrock. There are even some I'd never heard of, before doing a fast Google search just now: wallboard, gypsum board, buster board, custard board, or gypsum panel. I have made this recipe using lime or calcium carbonate to give the precise name, instead of joint compound and it is working fine so far. Made it about a week ago. You can make a paste of the lime beforehand that mimics the texture of the joint compound and then add it to the recipe but I think if someone became proficient at the recipe they could just add dry lime and water straight into the mix. Vinegar reacts with lime though so don't use vinegar in the recipe if you are using lime. I say that in case there are people out there who want to put vinegar in the recipe as a preservative. So perhaps people in other countries could use lime, aka calcium carbonate. Lime is used as plaster in some instances. I have made this comment in reply to another person but decided to make it stand alone because I wanted to add that anytime you work with ingredients like lime or cement or joint compound you should keep in mind that they are very alkaline and will dry out your hands. It is best to use gloves when using them but if you don't after you are finished you can wash and rinse your hands then slather them with vinegar to restore the pH balance to your hands.

If your son is a gamer and enjoys role playing games, he might like to make props to make the different scenes more realistic. If he is into miniatures as he games he could make the terrain, inns, castles, dragons, etc to help illustrate what is going on in the scenarios
If he is into the Marvel Universe or other super heros, he could sculpt them.

So just put that type of fabric in around the nose area when the paper clay is still wet and you are golden. Remember that the fabric isn't COVID safe if you can blow out a lighter through the fabric. You can also test it with a very fine mist through sunlight(spray a very fine mist through the side that your face is on going outwards through a stream of sunlight).
