This has changed the way I was wanting to do my wings. The feathers out of that plastic is just GENIUS.
I'm glad that it inspired you 😁
I'm making a kinetic sculpture of a winged angel. I've gone through many videos to help me decide on the best way to make my wings work, and I found your video to be the most helpful. Thank you for your inspiring enthusiasm, and more power to you.
Thank you, I'm very happy it was helpful to you 😁
you're the first artist I see doing articulated wings with doing research on how wings look like and work beforehand, so the wings look realistic.
Great job and thanks a lot for the tutorial!
Thank you so much for your appreciation!✨
So I finally released the promised tutorial! 😄 I'm sorry it took so long, I think last year I said I would release it within a week... I was sooo wrong.😅🙄 It was a lot more work than I thought. But in the end, I managed it. 😁I really hope you like it. let me know!💫
Thank you for releasing it! ❤ It was interesting to see the whole process of making it.

Any chance you will sell a pattern? I would love to make a papir of wings but Even with your video I dont believe I will manage to figure out the lenghts and such of the different materials
@@weronimus1 thanks, that is good Idea I will start working on that pattern
@@originalbeast1737yes please!
It has been a dream of mine to create dragon wings that open up when triggered by something, and to see that people have already done this is expected, but absolutely a dream come true. I doubt i am anywhere near experienced enough to make this myself, but it's fantastic to know that there's stuff online i could use as reference! Thank you for making this video.
Wow! This is spectacular! I SO appreciate that you showed your learning process in this video too! I would suggest trying to normalize the audio so it doesn't get noticeably quieter during some parts. That being said, the use of your knowledge of bird anatomy to help you make these is so cool! I love birds and studied bugs and plants in school, and the fact you even took into consideration the way the feathers scatter light is BREATHTAKING! like, just wow! Nobody ever considers going that deep into their creative process for stuff like this! Saving this vid and using it for reference in the future!
I'm so glad you like it😃! I apologize for the sound. I edited it for a very long time, I couldn't make it uniform and in the end I didn't have the energy to redo it. Anyway, thanks for the advice, feedback like this is priceless. I myself was very happy with how great an effect can be achieved with the semi-transparency of the wings. I had already made three wings before but they all looked very heavy and I couldn't figure out why. It's incredible how such a small detail can completely change the overall impression. If you create anything in the future, be sure to let me know! I would be very interested!😁
This was just the inspiration I needed! The way you articulated the wings and feathers is genius! Thank you for sharing! ❤
Thank you so much for that kind message. 😊😊The exact things like these motivate me to continue with my creative work.🌟
This is a wonderful tutorial, and the drawings are most appreciated. I am making a variation for my 16-year-old, out of plywood cut on my laser cutter. Thank you for your brilliant work.
thank you for this tutorial! I love the fact that the highest part of the wings when folded are at the same level as your shoulder line, so the wings could technically be hidden behind your back, or under a cape if you wanted. I'll study this video more slowly and see if I can make something similar but with bat/dragon wings
Thanks for the compliment! I'm very glad that he appreciates this detail, I wish you the best of luck with your creation 🌟
This was really beautiful, they look very realistic... amazing job!! I've never seen artificial wings like this.
Thank you, I'm glad you like it 😁

This is so perfect! I’ve been wanting to cosplay as my favorite character at a convention, and she just so happens to have wings! I love just how ACCURATE these are (scritches my hyperfixation on wings just right)

This is very close to what i was lookfor for dragon wings i wanted them to be controlled by stings vs some sort of motor
That sounds great! Definitely let me know how it went 😁

@@originalbeast1737 alright! ^^
WOW.... Thank you very much for the clear and easy tutorial, I made wings a long time ago and it didn’t turn out very well :_) but after watching this video I realized all my mistakes, thank you very much!!!❤️(Sorry if there are mistakes, I just don’t know English well, I’m Ukrainian)
Thank you very much 😊
Amazing good job ❤😍😍
Thanks ✨ glad you like it 😁
This is gorgeous and helpful for those of us trying to make wings for any reason! If I can ask, did you use PVC foam sheets for the wings, and where did you get the material/what thickness and size did you get? I’m looking to make wings like this for a cosplay I’m working on!
Thanks! It's a bit complicated with this material. They are sheets intended for large-format printing. At school, we had a large number of cuttings that were over a meter in size. So I didn't have to buy this material at all, I just had to dig it out of the trash 😅. I looked up the name of the material backwards. And I'm actually not 100% sure it's correct.
Heyy were u able to find materials to make
Love the wings and tutorial! Quick question - how and where do you affix the string to the joint?
Very nice love from India ❤️
THANK YOUUUUUUUU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO ❤️💓❤️💓❤️💓💓❤️💓❤️💓❤️💓❤️💓❤️💓
You are welcome 😁🤗😃
“ *hello? Yes, my neighbor just turned into an Angel.. No, I don’t mean metaphorically. SHE HAS WINGS!* “

“ *hello?* “
😂🤣😂
I really need to make a set of these wings. I would purchase the plan from you, just because I want to support your craft. Thanks cause it’s very inspiring.
Thank you very much for wanted to support my work 😁 that's first time for me so it really means much to me. But unfortunately I don have profesional template jet. It will take some time to finish it. But you can send me messages on Instagram. And I will send you demo template Fotos and I will also help you with any questions you may have. Looking forward to your Instagram message 😃

Thanks I'm glad you like it 😁
Let me know if you will struggle with any creation step
WOW!! perfect design
where did you get such beautiful long feathers?
Hello miss I really love your work, I love your skills and how determined you are, I think this artwork would really help me in my project work, I am working on wings
Please I wanted to ask if you can use acrylic paint to paint the plastic wings because I’m working on the Eagle
This reminds me of the Demagorgon costume with the opening/closing head someone made after the first season of Stranger things 👍
And pretty decent editing actually for your first 10+ minute video. 😁
Yes I know what you mean 😃 I saw the demagorgon too 😁. And thanks for rating my editing 👍 This adds a bonus point to my confidence
Hi! This is so amazing and I am hoping to make a version for myself! Do you by chance have the dimension of each piece that you used? Thanks!
Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. I have a sample pattern on Instagram. I hope this is helpful. good luck 🌟🌟🌟

What was used to hold the foam parts together? I would love to use those but I don't know what they are called. Can someone please tell me?
Hi! I’m taking the plunge and trying to make two (!!) sets of your wings for Good Omens cosplay! Just one little ask (that I hope you see)….what was the plastic spine you used for connecting the feathers to? Thank you for such an excellent tutorial!
This looks amazing, and hoping to make something similar with my fiance.
Would 2mm thick work for this? I want to make raven wings for my Halloween costume and future cosplay. Also, can cardboard work as well?
what material do you use so that the alumunium can rotate?
hi, I would like to know a list of materials needed to create this beautiful masterpiece. I’m trying to plan on making two of these and I would like to know the types of things used. thank you
The wings look beautiful. Maybe I should try to build this. But I was wondering, are they very heavy? I can imagine, that the frame of the wings already weights a lot.
HII, lovely video this is exactly what i was looking for!
quick question- instead of aluminium, do you think carboard would need strong enough for the bone structure of the wings?
Hi thanks, I think that card wouldn't be strong enough. Especially if you want to put feathers on it. But if you want to make the wings much smaller and/or without feathers than it may work. Especially if you will use some strong kind of cardboard. I would recommend make som experiments with it 😁 then you will know. 😊
Holy molly! This is amazing! I WANT TO TRY DOING IT, but I'm scared before I even start... 😅
Don't be scared, you can first make small model from paper and Cardboard. That way you will get confidence. And I would recommend to do that anyway, I always make a small model before I start working on a big project.
Speaking of blinds... do you think you can use two of the grippy rollers they use for blinds to lock the wings in a fixed position? That way you dont have to be pulling on the strings all the time 🤔
good idea, i may try it on my next wings
What did you use for the joints on your first prototype? I’m planning to make my feathers out of a really really light material, so I figured I could get away with using some EVA foam for the base, but I’m unsure of what to use for the joints.
Hello! EVA foam is strong, yes, but I would honestly recommend reinforcing it with something else too, unless you've got 7-10mm high-density foam. It's a mistake I've unfortunately made with making wings before, and even ultra lightweight materials, when stacked up enough, can be enough to cause it to bend weirdly. Your plan can still work, but I'd seriously suggest embedding a wire or dowel rods, depending on how thick or straight it is.
for the very first time, instead of joints, I used an ordinary wooden stick to which I stuck a plastic wheel on both sides, but I wouldn't recommend that. it is much better to use a screw and a self-locking nut. self-locking is a nut that has an additional plastic ring in the thread, you can also make it by dropping a melt gun into the thread when tightening an ordinary nut. And it is necessary to use pads for this. if you would like to save weight, the pads can also be plastic. I hope these tips are helpful, I wish you good luck with your creation.
💯💯💯
This is really wonderful:) Love it. Trying to make one for myself, however it would be great if you help me with the measurement guidelines please.
Hi sorry for the delay in replying. I have a sample pattern on Instagram. I hope this is helpful. good luck 🌟🌟🌟

hi how did you loop the strings to make the wings move?
Hello! I’m not sure if you’ll read this, but I just wanted to thank you for this tutorial! I’m new to the cosplay scene and especially handmade cosplays/props and I’ve always wanted to make something like this but not have the time and didn’t know how to start, and this gave me a lot of inspiration! I’m still in high school so I’m thinking of making this my summer project so that it’s in time for our local Comic-Con in sept! I was also wondering if there was a way to scale the wings up to make them longer? I’m not too worried about being anatomically correct and I was worried if I scaled everything up the backpack portion would get too big, and if this this could be solved by just lengthening the tips of the wings? Thank you again for the vid and any advice that you may have, and have a nice rest of your day! ☺️🫶
Hi Thank you for nice comment. Yes, lengthening the last bone is definitely a better solution. You just have to take into account that a much larger lever will act on the joints. So make sure you use very light materials
@@originalbeast1737 ok thank you so much for your advice and input! I’ll definitely try and find some lighter materials for the long wing bone and feathers! We have some power tools lying around the garage so I’m hoping that I’ll still be able to make the main base bones out of aluminum. Thank you again for the tutorial, and hope you have a nice rest of your day 😊🙌
Very great design for your wings! 👌 Bravo 👏 I have one question, do you think that i can make the same design and mechanism for a pair of wings with woods instead of aluminum?
Yes if you are more familiar with wood, you should try it. You just need to find balance between hardiness and light weigh.
@@originalbeast1737 Thank you very much! 😃🙏 How did you attach the feather wire to the mechanism? Is it the same wire or several tied together?
@@lucasbordoni9252 The feathers are sewn to the plastic bar and the bar is screwed to the mechanism with a screw and nut
What sort of string did you use to extend it? Love your tutorial it’s very clear!
Hi thank you.
I'm not sure what kind of string you mean. I used fishing line to connect the feathers, kite string to sew the feathers to the bar. and to check the opening of the wings I used
FESTA plastic construction string. but you can also use any thick string that is not flexible.
