Fun Fact: The ONLY reason why Jess Franco agreed to direct ths movie was the producers claimed they were going to get Pink Floyd to do the music.

Sure, but is Jess Franco also an idiot? On what possible grounds would he think the producers of low-budget Euro slashers would have the juice to get Pink Floyd? In 1981, they had released The Wall and were working on the acclaimed film that eventually accompanied it.

As someone who recently got a PhD... Yeah, they're a load of crap more often than not. It's not about being knowledgeable or intelligent or analytical so much as it is showing off that you can stick with a single project longer than two years and then tell your committee what they want to hear. Which goes a long way towards explaining why the doctor just kinda...let's the murderer go.

And "El cazador trofeo de los hombres" in Spanish is "El demonio que hace trofeos de los hombres".
Erstens: Wurst Biene. Und zweitens: Cazadors are fucking annoying
1. Guttenfunkel sounds like some really good weed you could score during Oktoberfest.
2. At 2:55, that practical effect made that girl look as if she's made out of pancakes.
3. When I heard that Jess Franco's nickname was "Uncle Jess", I flashed back to Full House. Then I wondered how that show would have gone if he had directed it.
This movie could have been so much better if Miguel was depicted as being legitimately sane after those five years (they could have changed the opening scene somehow to depict him having an isolated psychotic episode). More emphasis on the gaslighting/blaming of Miguel could have been really effective, especially considering how much he loves his sister.
So, basically a European version of “Psycho 2.”
How on earth did I miss this review? Oh well, better late than never!

The movie was a West German co-production. Even though Franco was Spanish, he had difficulty working in his homeland for many years, because he kept running afoul of local censors and the Francoist government. He was enough of a pariah that they put him on a blacklist alongside Luis Buñuel for a while.
Really?! Of all the movies Jess Franco has made, this is the one he disowns?! It actually looks pretty decent.
You should think about doing either 'Creepers' or 'Dead Alive', since both would seem to me to be right up your alley.

I've seen A LOT of Franco's filmgraphy, and I too don't get why he disowned this one specifically, I mean this is cliched and cheesy, but not much more than a lot of his work and this is a lot less weird and sleezy than a lot of his other stuff which is pretty much porn under cover of genre films or genre/porn disguised as art house. Did he disown any other one of his besides this one?

Came here after learning about “Steamboat Willie” Mickey Mouse becoming public domain, and the resulting new slasher movie to come this year, “Mickey’s Mouse Trap”, which seems to be a combination of FNAF, Scream, and a little bit of this movie, in that the killer is dressed up as Mickey Mouse.
Uncle Jess was ahead of his time. 😄

I know I'm a little late, but I just discovered upon your series a short while ago. And thanks for pointing out the Blue Monkey movie. I saw it a long time ago and never seemed to be able to find it on IMDB. BTW, "Die Säge des Todes" means "The Saw of Death" (don't know if that was already mentioned in the comments). Apparently the DVD was intended for the German market and also contained the English audio track.
