Michael Ironsides narration was the cherry on top, for the budget they had, they will reap the rewards for years to come. I can see this becoming an annual Halloween tradition

Great film
I love how a small 5 minute possession scene from this was scarier than DGG’s 2 hour Exorcist reboot
Facts.
Yeah, Exorcist reboot was trash
Do yall ever wonder how much DGGs Halloween films suffered because he was so excited to move on to his Exorcist plan? (which apparently sucked)
@@Mark-db1okEnds was a giant slap in the face to all Michael Myers fans. How dare he portray Michael that way. I wanted him to be big bad boogeyman, kill everyone, and then disappear into the night
Shudder is killing it. Last year it was When Evil Lurks and now this. Blumhouse better watch out
Blumhouse has given up on doing anything good. They still make money so why should they try?
Shudder in terms of quality are beating blumhouse black and blue.
They already left Blumhouse in the dust.
Nobody touching Neon
I can not find it on shudder?
just got back from watching the movie w my friends. they all thought it was gonna be meh and we all ended up walking out at the end freaking out.
How old are u
Hope you literally closed your eyes like I did during that hypnosis scene. If not you may be in for something terrifying in real life. I don't play with that stuff.
@@JuliusTurner-hm6ff I don't believe in hypnosis but I covered my eyes 😂
I also thought it was going to be meh but it exceeded my expectations. Loved it and would watch it again but wasn’t really scared just disturbed
Are you real? I just saw this exact comment word for word on another late night with the devil review on Jeremy Jahns movie review channel. Weird.
“That’s some weird, wild stuff!”-Johnny Carson
I read that in his voice.
"That's correct sir!"

@@Scottocaster6668 “HoooOOOOOOO!!!”
“You are correct , Sir!”
Im a horror snob, and this film blew me away. Love it!!
Yes!
You should watch Ghostwatch from the BBC in 1992 - it did something similar to this story and terrified the whole country
Link 😊?
@veczcams.com/video/YQfMTktMZLQ/video.htmlsi=mRE8kappznbHZgiErav5544 this is kind of a documentary about the TV programme. You may be able to find the original on youtube somewhere.
I need to check that out.
Pipes 😢
Meh ..terrified? Lol
I want to see this movie NOW
It looks like some of the guests are modeled on talk show guests of the seventies. For example, the Skeptic seems like magician/psychic debunker James Randi, and the psychic guy is like The Amazing Kreskin with a touch of Uri Geller.
Yes! These types were a staple of talk shows back then.
@@DrumdumsMovieReviewshappens to the best of us
And the way the camera used the crowd for opening and closing visuals. And bits of Carson, Bozo the clown, Carol Burnett, the Dating Game….
David Dastmalchian deserved a lead role & he looks perfect for this. So hyped for this one ... 🤘
He's outstanding in this.
I Just saw this marvelous film earlier tonight. It was great!! It was a very pleasant surprise... and being a horror affectionado it's tough to see something truly unique. Plus... It's a blast to the past. Capturing the spirit of the independent live talk shows of the past... Great picture.
This movie is proof that good movies are still out there!!
If you're one of the unlucky ones that didn't close your eyes during that hypnosis scene, then I would advise you to pray and seek christ asap!.
That Halloween 3 moment was CRAZY!
Im gonna get dressed and head to the theater for this one. Thanks Lee!
You’re welcome…and enjoy!!
I saw this last night. The Exorcist meets The Blair Witch Project meets The Les Crane Show. Very good performances from David Dastmalchian and Ingrid Torelli. Some of the characters are based on Anton LaVey, The Amazing Kreskin, and James Randi, who may not be familiar to today’s viewers, but who were often guests on TV shows of this kind. I give the filmmakers credit for coming up with something that does not involve Marvel superheroes
I love how it plays as a sort of "documentary". all the early information about the TV host helps set up the movie so well you never question what is happening or why
Agreed. I loved the novelty approach.
I really enjoy chamber pieces. I like the claustrophobic feeling, and to see how directors/actors can maximize the limited space. This should be a great companion piece to The Autopsy of Jane Doe.
The autopsy of Jane doe is one of the most underrated horror films of all time. When I first watched it I wasn’t expecting it to be nowhere as good as it was
Hadn't heard of this, thanks for review. Will definitely watch it
I think that someone has been inside my head. This sounds almost TOO GOOD to be true. Whoever was in there, thanks for writing this movie! I can't wait to see it!
It's amazing!
I am so appreciative of you calling attention to movies I would likely miss without your review; this one definitely sounds unique and very interesting. I love slow burns and am a fan of 70’s era television.
This one is a must see David!
Drumdums: "Shows like Sanford and Son, The Brady Bunch. Even though theyre before my time..."
Me: "Christ im Old!"
Thanks for posting this so quickly👍. I gotta see this soon!
Haha you and me both brother!
@@DrumdumsMovieReviewsI finally just saw this movie last night. Yes it was great. After analizing the ending, i kinda knew what was going on, but found out some interesting things.. The sceptic was actually a real guy that was on Johnny carson back in '73 (not this actor who played in Late Night W/ Devil) but a guy named Randi, who offered 1 million dollars to prove the paranormal was real. The spoon bender still on LNWTD was actually from Johnny Carsons episode. So that idea for LNWTD in a way really happened minus the Demon.
I saw both Immaculate and late night with devil right now...Immaculate was so bad...late night with devil was AWESOME...Horror fans you're in for a treat, Exorcist, scanners, blair witch, and truman show rolled into one little ride!
Oh damn. I'm seeing Immaculate on Sunday.
Thanks for the review Lee. Definitely gonna check it out this weekend!
You're welcome!
Honestly its one of the best horror movies I have seen in a while. Didn't need cheesy jump scares. Used the overall story and build up to add suspense. From watching the trailer you really think its going to be a possession movie strictly around that girl, but it really is a a horror movie based around the choices that Jack made to get him where he is on that night. Very unique found footage movie and I believe will sit right up there with the found footage power houses in the horror genre.
It's awesome.
I'm excited!!! Love your channel soo much!!
Thank you!!!
Never heard/seen you before, you’re good!! I like your drumming connection and your pacing when you talk. Most are loud and fast and you take your time. You also make good points and don’t ruin the movie for people. I saw it last week do on a sneak peek and loved it. I agree: GO SEE IT!! )Just subscribed)
Looks like a horror version of the twighlight zone.
From what ive read it feels like some forgotten lost episode of it, but more gruesome and feature length.
@@Gobbostopper that's brilliant. Actually looking forward to it now.
Definitely!
It's psychological horror. Trust me by the end you'll leave that theatre's questioning your own mental state.
@@JuliusTurner-hm6ff that's what I like to hear
Normally when there's a jump scare, I see it coming a mile away and it never scares me, but there's a jump scare in this movie that I should've seen coming, but it was paced so well and I was so wrapped up in it, I didn't see it coming and it did scare me. I can't really pay a horror movie a higher complement if I'm being honest
Just FYI, comedians couldn't do anything to get on Carson. Johnny had to see your work and think you were funny, then you got invited on for a three minute spot. If he really liked you you got asked over to the couch after your set. It was like having the golden ticket! Very few have had the honor!!
Exactly. It was a highly coveted spot.
I loved this movie but i didn't think it was scary. Scary subject matter maybe but at no point did I feel scared.
Great review man! I just watched this film this past weekend and I thought to go straight to your review first because I saw that you uploaded this a while ago. This might be recency bias but I LOVED THIS FILM. It was an experience for me and I am looking forward to watching this on Halloween night this year and hopefully for many more Halloweens to come. I liked how you referenced the talk show hosts to CZcamsrs.
I loved it too!
The wink at 1:58 is hilarious! Keep it coming Lee!
Will do!!
Thanks for the shout out buddy!
You're welcome brother!
My shudder subscription has been paying off huge lately! This movie was so much fun to watch, I loved Lilly blankly staring at the cameras it definitely built up the tension. No jump scares just a fun and immersive ride.
Yes! Lily was such a crush it character.
Saw the trailer and was pretty hyped for this. Glad to hear its really good. I'm excited to see this asap and love the old school style.
I'm a sucker for that old school feel too.
Pumped to see this. Ghostwatch and WNUF Halloween Special are 2 of my favorite Halloween movies to watch in the last few years. Mix in a bit of The Cleansing Hour and in think im pretty excited to see Late Night.
Frame rate is measured in frames per second. Most films are shot at 24fps. Some such as the recent Peter Jackson Hobbit trilogy are shot at 48 fps.
On the other hand, aspect ratios include 4:3 (older tv shows with the black bars on either side of TVs), 16:9 widescreen, 2.35 1 etc.
Did I say frame rate? Ugh. I meant aspect ratio.
@@DrumdumsMovieReviews All good mate. Enjoy following your vlogs. Cheers from Australia
I love seeing David Dastmalchian in this
I will be watching this tomorrow! Great review and yes, we should definitely support this movie!
Preach!
Thanks for covering this. Hyped to see it.
You bet!
Great review, I think you're one of the best reviewers out there with regards to giving the gist of a movie but not going far enough to spoil it. Just watched it and agree with you though I'm not sure the ending quite landed with me. Summing up, I'd consider it a must watch though I'm not sure I'd feel the need to re-watch it.
Thank you so much!!
i didn’t know that this movie was coming out this weekend! but i will definitely see it! thanks for the info!
Welcome!
Ingrid Torelli as Lilly stole the show and I have a feeling that just like Millie Bobby Brown stole Stranger Things, she's going to skyrocket after this one.
Yeah Lily was an amazing character.
The MCU did so much freaking damage. It is refreshing that filmmakers are going back to basics again despite Hollywood's horse manure.
Couldn't agree more.
Damage how can you allude to it?
@@christianbuissereth6608 He can't. Some people just say nonsense.
This is the review I was looking for. Thank you
Welcome!
Great review, thanks. Really looking forward to this one.
Welcome!
Is it only getting a limited theatrical release? I'm near St. Pete, Florida & can only find it in one theater that's over an hour away.
I believe so Jenn. If you can swing, make the drive!
Newly subscribed. I'm really looking forward to checking this movie out, plus I liked your presentation.
Thank you and welcome to the madness!
The writer for this movie should be hired to work on Five Nights At Freddy's.
I agree!
I'm so used to that guy playing an awkward weirdo in movies. Was genuinely surprised hearing him speak normally haha
Yeah he's a chameleon.
Really looking forward to watching this Lee. Shudder just knows how to make them.
Yes they do Daniel!
You got me excited to see this bro. It looked very good
I’m glad you mentioned the Halloween III vibe because I saw it too !! I think I know which scene you’re talking about !
Yep. THAT scene.
I saw this on Easter with a full theatre. The crowd was really into it. I loved it. Badass!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
This is a day ONE purchase for me. LOVED it
Nice Review
Mr. Lee
Sounds Like It Could Be My Type Of Movie
Just came out the cinema and I wanted to go back in for the next showing 😊 brilliant !!
Yes!
This concept kinda reminds me of "The Cleansing Hour" from 2019 which you can see on Prime. A fake exorcist has a CZcams show where a woman is actually possessed, and he now has to battle a real demon on a live stream. Not to many people talk about it, but I found it pretty good, so I'll check this one out.
Adding to my watch list NOW! Thanks Randall.
Yes similar to cleansing hour. Cleansing hour is superior to this imho. This movie has better acting to cleansing hour but weaker third act. I should have just waited for this to come out of shudder.
Also The Last Exorcist plot.
I have to wait until mid-April for it to be released in my end of the world, but I'm intrigued by the trailer and it sounds like I'm gonna have a treat when I do see it.
Definitely don't sleep on this one George!
Congrats on the video, sir! Some big viewership numbers on this one.
Yeah I was shocked haha.
I love him more and more every time I see him he is such a good character actor
Looking forward to watching this and excellent point about big budget studio movies. Recently it appears that more of the budget is being spent on the salaries of the on screen talent as special effects/ CGI rarely live up to the hype these days.
Yeah man I prefer the lower budget stuff these days.
It is crazy that most of the time. Not all but most the cgi seems to have taken a step back and not look as good as it did just a few years ago
Great review! Looking forward to seeing this movie!
Thank you Kathy! It's great!
I’m going to the very first showing TODAY! I can’t wait any longer! lol
Hope you enjoy it!
I just got home from watching Late Night With The Devil and I really enjoyed it. For some reason my showing had Spanish subtitles. I got used to them being there though and could ignore them after awhile.
Oh wow that's weird. Take what you can get right? Glad you saw it Bobby.
Brilliant video lee I had 0 awareness of this movie, it gives me some twin peaks vibes thanks for another interesting movie to watch broski
You're welcome!!
Late Night With The Devil was soo great!! I really enjoyed it so much! Saw it last night and it put me on a wild, creepy ride with lots of twists and turns and great performances, along with a great story! And scary moments to boot! Such a unique found footage movie and I swear, they better put this movie on Blu-Ray or I will be pissed. I hope they give it a Blu-Ray release and not do what Disney did with Barbarian. Because this movie blew my mind!
Hell yeah! Seeing it tomorrow!
Enjoy!!
I took a group of 4 really good friends with me for an evening showing. We all loved it and were so spooked 💙!! David Dastmalchian was so compelling in this. He played such a great range of emotions. He gave me mixture of host like Carson mixed with Vincent Price. The way he played absolute horror and realization was perfect. I feel like The 70’s aesthetic and talk show setting were perfect atmosphere. I haven’t seen a movie this original like this on a big screen in awhile.
He is so great in everything.
Terrific review, amazing movie! I was concerned that I was overhyping it in my head but it exceeded expectations by a mile! Saw it twice and want to see it again. Spoke to people coming out of the movie and everyone loved it. My daughters said it broke their brains. Just go see it
Hell yeah man. So good!
This movie looks so good and I can’t wait to see it! Thanks for review! Did you see Stopmotion yet Lee?
No not yet. I've been meaning to check it out.
I just watched it last night. I definitely wouldn’t say it’s scary, but I absolutely loved everything about it from beginning to end!
Just got out of it. It’s incredible. It reminded me of Ghostwatch but Ghostwatch was actually on TV in the UK using real reporters and host and people actually believed it all. One kid even offed himself. People were terrified and it was banned for 10 years.
Hell yeah. I'm still thinking about it.

Lee, saw LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL earlier, and it was phenomenal. Omg! I loved it and that ending was all kinds of crazy. I love the Bohemian Grove and Abraxas references too. I’m gonna watch it again when it appears on Shudder.
He's one of my favorite actors and this has that same feel of the 70's that Conjuring 2 had. I'm seeing it Friday night but I just know I'm going to end up loving this movie. You just confirmed it for me how good it's going to be. Thanks.
What makes it so great is that it feels like you're watching a 70s talk show.
Dude, I love your shirt!!!
Thank you!
Just back from seeing Late Night With the Devil with my buddy. What a fantastic time! A celebration of a bygone era of late night TV Halloween specials, complete with flying bats on strings and old school Halloween sound effects! Kills were pretty swell, acting was the tops. It all came together beautifully. I had a blast!
Mason! Nice to see you man! This movie is such a great time.
I’m buying this and watching this for Halloween every Halloween
I’m really looking forward to this one!
I just watched Late Night With The Devil for the second time since yesterday. Im about to watch it again. Something about it is so captivating. Definitely a good watch for horror fans who have been disappointed the last few decades.
I so want to see this one in theaters, but it won't be close by so I'll have to catch it on Shutter instead. So hyped!!!
Definitely catch it in a theater if you can, especially for the last act.
I'm seeing it this weekend. So excited.

Where can you watch the movie? I live in Europe.
Unfortunately it's only in theaters now. Coming to Shudder in April.
Thanks for this video, Lee! Cannot wait to see this one! And screw the haters for like 2 literal seconds of CGI. I'm totally in!

Great review of this movie it captures the essence of the 70s perfectly. I like this movie
This is must see! I’ve been thinking about this movie for the past couple days after seeing it loved it.
Agreed! I'm still thinking about it.
I can’t wait for this movie. Big fan of David’s acting….this gives me vibes of Ghostwatch on BBC 1 from 1992. A “live” halloween show that fooled a nation. Going to see this tonight with my fiancé and family. Bring it on
Yeah he's got a certain style to his acting that I like.

Just watched this last Wednesday. The production and set decoration was amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The only question I have is what killed the psychic guy? Did he tap into Mr. Wriggles or was it the host’s wife?
Wiggles I think. Been a while since I saw this.
