  • When you install an aftermarket car audio system you may find yourself using a feature called DC offset to turn the audio system on. With this feature your gear doesn't need a remote turn on wire connection and instead detects when the factory system is on, thus telling the aftermarket gear to turn on. But this feature doesn't work on vehicles. How can you measure if it will work for yours? What other modes are there? Let's learn in detail!

I always used the GYO mode to save time. Only time I had an issue was in a Volkswagen. Also thanks for the video I learned about the 5-6 volts check

What was the issue with the VW? I am getting ready to install a stereo in an Audi and I have a feeling it is going to be a pain.

I just recently installed a PAC LPA-2.4 LocPro Advanced in my '20 Jeep Wrangler Sport S. It uses DC offset which is cool. From there, I feed the Remote Out to a relay that powers my 2 amplifiers. One thing to note though, in some Jeep Wranglers JLs like mine, I had to place a 47 ohm/5W resistor across the speaker line inputs feeding into the LOC in order to get a signal. I guess those Uconnect radios need to see that resistance, or it will totally shut off that signal going outbound.

My bro and i just installed the NVX xloc24x today it has a built in DC offset and works well although it does have a slight turn off pop so we may end up trying to find a remote turn on wire in his 2011 Equinox Pioneer system ....if we can find one... been researching for days

I have a Boss pm2500 mono amp, it has a protection indicator light. My question is can I set the gain using the protection light ,which I suspect works like a clipping indicator and using a test tone CD at a tone of 40htz., start to raise the gain and when the light starts blinking just turn it down until it stops blinking would that work and be save?

I use the gto on my lc2i pro. In my 2018 Mazda3 there isn't a on/off button on the infotainment screen. So my lc2i turns on the moment i press the engine start button. I've noticed that if I have it on the audio selection the lc2i will remain on for about 20 to 30 seconds after the engine is off. What I have done is wired in 2 on/off switches in the remote out put wires. 1 switch for the mids and high amp and a 2nd switch for sub amp. That way I have total control of when the amps are on/off.

I use the " old school " remote in turn on. When choosing a new head unit, I always make sure that it has a remote line for my dsp and amps.

Hi! Love the channel. You're absolutely the official source for all things car audio. I bought the LC2i pro based in your recommendation. My issue is everytime bass drops off for more than say 2 seconds it takes the LOC another 2 seconds or so to put out the signal again. I have the threshold set all yhe way up because it says it will bypass and stay on full time. But like i stated, it does not. Im not new by any means to car audio...no where nesr your level but i had the mecp books and have installed at least 25 full sub/amp systems. So i believe i have done the entire system correctly. I had used crappy LOC before and never had this issue. If you have any suggestions or if this is normal for this device? Its not the auto turn on. That works correctly. Its simply the boost turning on and off. Thanks for any help!

I recently had my LC2ipro professionally installed. I noticed only one speaker was used as the input source. Is this OK?

Question. I had a friend install a Pioneer DMH 1770 NEX in my 2012 Chevy Sonic. All the speakers work but on lower volume levels the left side is significantly lower in volume compared to the right. When you turn it above 19 on the volume the left side becomes equal to the right. I couldn't do the wiring myself due to being partially color blind. What is going on???

the classic remote in is what I use, because I dont always need my subs on (listening to podcast/youtube audio. So I have an on/off switch connected to remote wire to turn on LC2i, then the remote out turns on my subs amp. another note, my car has noise canceling so I had to splice in another on/off switch to cut the noise canceling mics off when using the subs (not the talking on phone mic)

I just finished installing a system in a VW Touareg. I used the high level auto remote turn on on a RF R2-1200X1 amp. The amp is not turning off, so looks like Ill have to run a remote line.

My Lc2i pro is connected as per regular old OEM headunit. Running a CXA 1200.1 Kicker mono amp. Using the GTO option it powers up, and using the "Rem in" to send the singal to my amp to turn on. So everything powers up.
Heres the problem... maximised light wont turn on when playing around with the switch, and also there is no sound coming from my subs. What can i do here?

  • @SilentShadow-ss5xp

I only use remote trigger. if it's not available I'd rather just have a switch near my dash that I can turn that signal on and off myself. That being said I've also never owned a modern vehicle that has a head unit that you cant replace. my 2008 kia Spectra has an old school replaceable double din so aftermarket head units aren't a problem.

I have a 2020 ford escape and the gto function doesn’t work, the loc just stays on. At first I thought I did something wrong. After hours of tinkering, I end up installing a switch. After doing research found out that most newer fords have the same thing. I think it has something with the sync system.

I have a 2016 ford flex and it works great in mine… I have the sync system using the LC7i with gto.. if the doors are open or screen is displaying the ford logo then mine still has signal until it fully shuts down the radio

I'm surprised none of the modes, are activated by a preamp signal. Not everyone is using speaker leads.

    • @CarAudioFabrication
      @CarAudioFabrication  Před 9 měsíci

If you have a preamp signal you are likely using a integration device or an aftermarket head unit. Both of which always have a remote out. So you would have an easy reliable remote turn on signal to use
