Today I am sharing a little watercolor mixing session I filmed using my newly purchased Roman Szmal paints! 😊

As mentioned in the video here is the list of mixes I used to create the colours:
Greens:
1: Aquarius Yellow + Cobalt Sea Blue
2: Nickel Azo Yellow + Indigo
3: Deep Green Gold + Ultramarine Intense + Burnt Sienna Monte Amiata
4: Nickel Azo Yellow + Ultramarine Intense
Oranges:
1: Nickel Azo Yellow + Cherry Quinacridone Red
2: Aquarius Yellow + Cherry Quinacridone Red
3: Deep Green Gold + Quinacridone Red
4: Aquarius Yellow + Quinacridone Maroon
Violets:
1: Ultramarine Intense + Quinacridone Red
2: Cobalt Sea Blue + Quinacridone Red
3: Cherry Quinacridone Red + Indigo

Greys:
1: Ultramarine Intense + Burnt Sienna Monte Amiata

I really enjoyed watching you play with color. I’m new to watercolor, so I appreciate your mixing session. I too, would like to see a tutorial for a limited pallet…one that would allow for many colors.
I would love a session on limited palettes. These are making such beautiful colors.

The second violet is my favourite, it reminds me of some fabric I have that changes from a pink to a blue depending on how the light hits it. I also like the top green, third orange and the second grey. Wonderful alchemy session Lily.

I think that last grey would be beautiful to use to paint images of rocks and stone! My favourite were the greens and oranges.

Gorgeous colours. That first and last green, the first orange and the top two violets are stunning. I haven't had a chance to play with mixing my RS watercolours yet but this has me excited for when I do get around to making my own mixing chart. I've been really enjoying your content and, without wanting to sound creepy, your voice is very soothing to listen to.

Do you take into consideration the warmth or the coolness of the colors when you choose what to mix? I find this hard to understand…and subsequently make a lot of “mud”! Lol
Hello Lily! I am a bit late to the party. Do you, by any chance, have Daniel Smith Burnt Scarlet? It is (was) made with the now discontinued PR206 like RS Quinacridone Maroon and I was wondering if they are similar. I am a sucker for quinacridones and this Roman Szmal one looks gorgeous!
Chris hi! I do have the Daniel Smith Burnt Scarlet, and it is one of my most used colours ❤The Roman Szmal one is similar, but so far I have found it less intense when using comparably. It does remain a very pretty colour though, I hope this helps! xoxo
@@lilymoonart It does! Thank you! I just bought a small and a big tube of the Daniel Smith Quin Burnt Scarlet, so I think it doesn’t make sense to get the Roman Szmal Quin Maroon then. I found your IG and I love your illustrations btw!

@@lilymoonart You’re welcome! It is! I bought the small tube while in Florence and the same day I watched a video here about the pigment having been discontinued. I love the colour so much that the next day I went back to the shop and got the 15ml tube. I use this colour a lot to paint animals and flora (I am on a mushroom series right now) and I didn’t want to order online as we can’t check the pigment on the tube before buying the colour.
May I ask where to get the test color cards? I cannot find them
