  • Toazted had an interview with guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez in Paradiso Amsterdam where he played in July 2009. He talks moving to Amsterdam and unreleased material. Subscribe for more!
He tells why he moved to Amsterdam, what's so special about the last record Octahedron and about the follow up of the record which will never be released. He speculated about the future of the band, the meaning of their music and he tells about his early drug use and the documentary he is currently making about The Mars Volta. Then he speaks about the new direction The Mars Volta want to take, why he hates playing festivals and about the artwork of the last three albums.

you need to take a listen to Poly-Math czcams.com/video/c950yWQ62E4/video.html no vocals there but musicaly speaking those guys are very volta influenced! To add to your comment, i'd like to say, yes the volta was the only band like that, and even if it's sad not to hear more guys as creative as this, it's also a great thing, because they were unique! They didn't sound like everyone else like it's too often the case.
