39 vessels tested, only two discharged waste. The city should install a pumpout station for wastewater like most communities along the waterway. Businesses would benefit from a dinghy dock near stores. Only rich bastards want poor people removed, so they don't have to see them from their million dollar mansions.

Another recent story from the Miami area is the evictions of mobile home park residents because of land purchases by real estate developers. This is the failure of civic leaders to provide realistic accommodations for all socio-economic levels of residents. If the rich are secessful in eliminating the working class and working poor they will start complaining that they can't find any good help to do the grunt work for them. And so it goes.

So this Spanish official sends the police out at night. (Spanish is important later in my thought.) Uses his position to make life hard on a minority. Perhaps he doesn’t like seeing the boats in his neighborhood. He is using his power to make life difficult for people that can’t fight back. Is it harassment? Well it’s city police. Not FWC or the State. Someone is controlling the city police for a personal reasons. Removing the boats serves just a few. At one time Spanish were treated similarly. Am I saying history repeats itself?
St Pete did something similar. What happened. The boats moved to become another communities issue. So he knows what he is doing for personal gain and what will happen.
Now boating communities, keep it clean! I would like to sell my house and live on a boat someday. Don’t ruin it for future generations. Turn in those that are the problem, and keep your boats like the area around you. If you’re living around millionaires, don’t be a sore spot for their community.

I agree with everyone who says they have a right to live on their boats - it’s been a dream of mine to do that for years! But to call some of these people “boaters” is an insult to boaters. That one guy (a REAL boater) was right when he said they were just “squatters on the water”. The only reason so many of THOSE boats pass the flush test is that they don’t use the head and holding tank on their floating hovels, they use a 5-gallon bucket throughout the day, let it fester next to their galleys all day, and then dump it in the dead of night.

I know many people here are not happy about this, however Miami is getting too congested with people and housing. This needs to get fixed, I know of boaters who don't live in their yacht or boat, and not happy about this people living in our coastal waters. Why? because they are polluting the coastline, and I witnessed a family living in a little boat, and that not a way of living. I hope we could get a new legislation to have this people out.

I don't get it. That Bayliner they're showing has an 11 gallon waste tank, that's it. You might go a week or two if it's just 1 person, much less with more people. If the boats don't move how in the world are the tanks getting emptied? Why they hit the macerator switch and pump the tank out in the water. The current method of putting dye in the toilet and seeing if it comes out is just about pointless. What they should be doing is inspecting the macerators and assuring they are properly locked/disabled to prevent POS boater from dumping their crap in the water.

If I want to live on my boat, I still have to pay for a place to moor or dock it, like everyone else. These poor pooooooor persecuted boaters are upset because they're being told that they can't moor their nasty, cruddy ole eyesore boats and live for free in one of the more expensive places in the country? I'm all for the boat life but this is almost like a homeless encampment on the water.
