  • In this video we travel from our base at the Morgan caravan Park to Renmark to check out some of the camping locations along Lake Bonney and the River Murray. While in Renmark we have lunch at the Renmark Club before crossing the river to look at the Paringa Silo Art. From Parings we start heading back to Morgan while stopping at Plush’s Bend and the Murray River National Park to check out some more campsites. As we continue to head back between Barmera and Morgan, we call into Locks #3 & #2 to view them.

Never doubted you Mick, and true to your word, and you presented a neat coverage of numerous camping / caravan sites...
Sure is great to witness the river having a flush of fresher water. And always a pleasure to join you and Sally when out and about....Cheers.

As a Renmark local I never thought I would see the day when we have to book let alone pay to camp along the banks of the River Murray. In our day you just camped wherever you wanted. As soon as the National Parks took over everything has changed. Our kids and their families camp every Easter at what is classed as the Lyrup National Park, just out of Renmark, and they have to book exactly 12 months ahead, almost to the minute to be able get the site they want. It’s crazy.

Two and bit years ago I was camping there and they put big rock's in then I left for Good old Darwin town just got back to Clare two days ago then saw your post so they don't want tourists to stay overnight or two days and fish well I won't buy fuel or food in Renmark I'll buying in loxton so I'll be going to Murray bridge to fish and camp

Sorry Brian Farmiloe but I was referring to the Lyrup National Park. You can still stay at Plush’s Bend for more than one night. Unfortunately as always it was the minority that buggered it up for the majority in that location. I am very disappointed when I read posts where people say they are going to boycott a town, because of a free camp issue, unfortunately the only people you are hurting are the local businesses who have had no say in what has happened and you miss out on all that town has to offer.

@@rogertrimper3093 you are so correct with your comments. From what I see in most cases the people that miss out are those who both socially and financially lose, who have no say in how things are run. Some changes are unfortunate while others are necessary for survival, either way the changes hopefully will never stop our travels.

Thanks again Mick, camped at lake Bonny on the east side in march 2019, really hot weather, it was great to lay down in the shallow water. Love the vids, keep them coming. Great camping spots. Bravo from Victoria Australia

You can only camp at plushs bend for 7 days and can't come back for 30 days to camp big rock's line the road going in plus at toilets end, at sand bar at loxton 2 weeks then stay away 30 days I was told by council workers but very nice places

As a local unfortunately a few years ago there used to be a lot of ‘undesirables’ that camped there long term and almost tried to control the area. Hence the new rules plus the Council has made designated camp spots and of course now come at a cost per night.
