As a 16 year dd parts guy i think you did a great job building this setup. You ought to get a size bigger injectors and some turbo pistons. Take care.

One plus to turbocharging these engines, even at low pressures, is much better performance at higher elevations. Regardless of ambient air pressure, the turbo will maintain optimum psi in the manifold as you climb or decend grades in mountain areas.

You are a great fabricator and an excellent driver. You're shifting is perfect. No clutch and no overrevving. Very enjoyable video!

It's nice to see someone who knows how to run a Detroit not trying to throw the rods before shifting

Turbo charging a 6-71 , I've been searching for this information and now your video just popped up on CZcams . AWESOME VIDEO Kurtis , Thank you sir for an excellent video . A 6-71 is in my future for sure and yes it'll be turbo charged . I worked on the welded rail trains on Union Pacific Railroad and operated the power cars that had two 6-71's that were mounted up top by the operators cab . Engines were mounted with the rear closest to the cab and had sucker fans blowing back my way over the engine and three big hydraulic pumps . In the south around Arkansas , Texas , Oklahoma , Louisiana and the other hot states it was really tough in the heat but helped a little in the cold weather . Start both engines , idle and engage the clutch drive slowly to get the pumps working to heat the hydraulic oil and then open the throttle wide open . Twin 6-71's screaming all day was heaven , Love their sound , finally had to route the exhaust under the rail cars as it got bad . I can identify a screaming old Detroit Diesel from far away . Such a sweet sound . I'll be a subscriber for as long as I live . Can't wait to watch your previous videos and future videos . Great video sir .

You sure know what you are doing. On the Turbocharger. My father did Diesel Repair work, of all types. From 1965-2000. He likes being fully retired in 2020.

Very cool!! Reminds me of my high school days, working construction in the summers of the mid 70's. The contractor had 3 of these he bought used and put dump beds on them. Three Detroit's warming up at 6 am getting ready to go for the day...rev'n up and down. It was like "Apocalypse Now"; love the smell of Detroit diesels warming up in the morning!! 👍👍

nice call on the difference on the 2 stroke and 4 stroke comparison. this is why 500cc 2 strokes raced in the same class as 1000cc 4 strokes in motogp for a year. The HP is almost the same yet the engines are very different beasts
