@The-Metal-Life Make sure to use the right bolts. THe powermaster starters are the best replacement but you HAVE to use the right bolts and the cheap little front bracket or else the mounting tab ears will break off the block.
Please tell me that you didn't drive an H1 at 55mph+ in 90'F weather for extended periods of time? Were you watching the temp gauges like a hawk the whole time? If not then ... your poor, poor #8 cylinder.
Yellow Hummer: "The suspension is a little wander-y" ... judging by the condition of driver's side front tire, looking like there is definitely an alignment issue...LOL
That tires so big i wander if he could take it to a semi truck shop and get it it recapped

@@that1guy82 its a 37. Most tire shops can handle it.
The suspension on these things gets wandering if the pitman/idlers wear out (and they wear out quick) or the ball joints are out of spec (and they go bad quite frequently as well)
@@nothingtoseaheardammit I'm just saying its big and probably expensive for one tire, i wouldn't recap a car that set a lot cuz of sidewall dry rot, I'm sure hoovie can afford a new one (or 4), i just wonder if they would recap it since its so damn big

I once walked away from an xr2 that had been an owners club car, it was mint. The dealer thought I was mad when I said it was too good for me to drive everyday.

The tyres on all the others are very old too, and will likely shred easily. New tyres and a wheel alignment needed on the yellow beast, new tyres on the red one. Then the yellow one may collapse any moment with broken arms.

Awesome collection of H1s. The two he's holding back look like ex military painted in Desert tan. I like the Ricky Williams vehicle and story. Just be aware that if someone buys it and opens up a few body panels, they might find a nice green surprise inside. If your smart, you could recoup some of your costs-just don't let it all go "up in smoke".

Any H1 earlier than 2000 with the 4th digit Z VIN number has the magical exploding 6.5 GM block. It will explode on you as soon as you get it past 220 on the thermostat.
I see people with the H1's put D-Max engines in them. It might be an expensive project, but better than that underpowered V8.
@@cjmarsh504 What they don't tell you is all of the problems they have with those conversions. To do it the *right way* (and not just what some frauds on the internet try to tell you) is that there's a hell of a lot more work that needs to be done than just dropping the Dmax/Allison in there and going on your merry way.

The first time i got to ride in an h1 I was like 8 years old. I'd been lucky enough to get rides in all sorts of stuff; but I'll never forget how wide the trans tunnel was.

Same story as with the Mercedes G started life as military vehicle also designated as Puch G
(name Puch was used in Austria and some other countries because Puch factory Austria was a birth place for the Mercedes G, today known as Magna factory) .
We had bunch of them in military&police.
Welcome to the H1 club. I had a 1999 H1 Wagon in red that I owned for 5 years and loved it. I even got to take the Hummer to Mohegan Sun down in CT and hang out with some of the hummer owning guys from Jack*ss. That was many years ago now. One thing to make sure that the Car Wizard checks for you, the 2000 model year had a problem with the #8 cylinder coolant leak. There was some kind of problem with the detroit diesels in 2000 that cause coolant to leak into the #8 cylinder and well you know where that goes. Make sure that's sorted out with the Weeezard before you go crazy offroading. Sourcing a new engine will being tears to your eyes if it explodes. There's also a guy up here in NH that knows an awful lot about H1s and HMMWVs including rare parts if you need it.

I had to sleep in the military version of them so many times when I was in the military. I remember the nightmare of trying to sleep in them. I could never own one for that reason alone.

@William Mulvaney Hoovies AC came to life. I sweated it out.
I remember seeing them in a Spanish (Spain) publication back in 1985 and thought that the Hummers just look weirdly timeless. AM General Hummers are up there with the 190 Benz from the same era in terms of perfect design. Fun fact a 1985 MB 190 is much cheaper than it's contemporary Hummer.
I never used to like hummers but the more I watch them and learn about them I like them more and more

Mil Hummers near me can be had for around $16-20k. Some have already been redone some. 30 for that rust bucket is tough to swallow.
My old boss had Ricky Williams Range Rover. He lived in Miami and was looking far a Range. His dealer called him and said he had one. It had custom door sills that had his number in them. But the smell. Like 42 skunks had a tenement apartment inside. Dealer said it would take 3 days to clear the smell. He came back 3 days later. Still same smell. Gave them another 4, little better but same. Took 10 days just for it to be livable to drive. Range was a heap. He had it for a year and a half, and traded it on a loaded Armada.
Same thoughts, i know one in purple for 30k € with no Rust
HMMWV's also cannot be registered in most states and aren't road legal. H1's have proper VIN's and are road legal in all 50 states. You pay a premium for that. Also you have power windows, locks, mirrors, heated windshields, HVAC that works...

@@TheRealAlpha2 I bought my H1 from a reputable H1 "dealer" back in 2018 and had to sink 6 figures into it after the fact to get it to "like new" condition. Of course I did some upgrades along the way.

There’s an 03 H1 in my family, actually in my driveway. It’s only slightly more reliable than a Lamborghini. But it has its own gravity field and I cannot help but love it.

I think you should have bought the cheapest one and then did some body work programs. Your shows are mostly fixing of mechanical items but there are a lot of us out here who do body work as well and would enjoy seeing a few programs geared to turning a rust bucket into a screaming machine!

@@altergreenhorn You can get away with that on a DB2 injection pump (mechanical HMMWV) but the DS4 injection pump (electronic H1 because FU EPA) has an optical sensor that doesn't like the veggie oil much.
