Great video Johnny! I recently sold my boat with the lowrance live sight. It was an eye magnet!! Takes the focus away for sure. Waiting for my new boat to come in with the Garmin pantopix. This video will change my perspective for sure. Keep up the great content!!
Truly a service to mankind, Thanks. I will be upgrading my electronics soon, a series like this will be invaluable.
Well done. I’ve found similar with perspective mode in that it helps me know generally what forward angle a major structure piece is or an underwater barge is that will wreck my boat. Do a show on perspective too. Nice job!
Finally some videos that are actually teaching me. Most informative I've found. Never used or seen used electronics but it's time I get with the modern world. Still have a lot to learn before I can justify that kind of cash to my wife but thanks to you I'm beginning to figure it out.
Outstanding and extremely insightful Love the honesty of your experience.
Great video! I've been playing with livescope for about 6 months now. Looking forward to learning more about.
I can agree with you that you do get tunnel vision. I use mine for crappie fishing and found myself doing this last year and spending too much time trying to get the bait in front of the fish. I later had to reevaluate and found that I can use this tool to locate the fish, and then fish them somewhat as I would have before having Livescope, and I had better luck putting fish in the boat. It's an excellent tool and can at least get you on the fish. It won't make them bite, though!
Why have I never seen this guys videos before?! One video and i learned so much for my own fishing regardless of the graph....
Been using it for several years. Definitely an advantage.
Man that's rockin! Great job and thanks for sharing. Got my blood pumping just watching you catch that Slob.
Thank Johnny! I’ve been eye balling Livescope. It was great to see your review and what you said makes a lot of sense. Can’t wait to hear how your experience with Livescope progresses.
I used this vid to go ahead and buy the livescope with a 93sv on a black Friday sale. I installed it right away and spent my free time in Dec to just cruise local lakes with my dogs, marking waypoints with with side imaging. Then I practiced going up to the waypoints slowly with my panoptix, just to search that spot for fish. I look forward to the weather warming up a bit so I can waypoint hop to look at my spots. I have found stacks of crappie in a lake where I have never crappie fished before so I'm pretty excited about more than just the bass fishing.
i wanna know who is going around not liking his videos they are all very informative to me thank you sir.
Good review. I am a Lowrance guy, so will look forward to that review.
Fish this lake multiple times a week! Glad to see someone is doing better than I have been.
good stuff,i have dual units on bow,12'' hds3 for mapping ,use 1222 for livscope..my off-shore skills are so much better, since watching ur channel
A lot of great information as usual 👍
Great information and fishing action!
Your vidéos are awesome 👏👏Thank you very much!
Cedrik from Paris, France
Awesome video! Thanks so much for sharing!
A few things to mention. The first couple of hours can suck you in. It’s like a video game. You have to recognize this and refocus and realize that this is just a tool. It is meant to aid you in finding fish and fish reactions to different baits and techniques.
Second. If you think you’re going to spot lock and use this effectively. Forget it. Especially in windy conditions.
3rd. You can see them. You can throw at them. But just because you see them on your graph. Doesn’t mean they will be able to be caught. Sometimes they just don’t want to eat. Sometimes we just suck as fishermen and don’t recognize soon enough when a fish is not liking what we are throwing.
Last but not least. It is a game changer in my opinion. We were able to use it to not only key in on a massive school of fish. We were able to see in real time how they reacted and what we needed to do to change their reactions to our baits. Retrieve speed. Color. Twitch. No twitch. Higher or lower in the water column. And even when the fish were shutting down and not wanting to bite what we were throwing. We were even further able to understand more about their behavior just by watching how they reacted when bait fish rolled in. And other predator fish rolled in.
If you can recognize these things. It will change the way you fish.
It seems like a game changer for sure. I would think it would be a huge advantage over someone who doesn't have one.
Fish The Moment and TacticalBassin are the best fishing channels on CZcams no question
🤣🤣 TB pushes products and repeats content year after year!
I watch the same 2. They are the best!
Josh Ingram They have gotten a lot better.
That's a hard thing to agree to when there are at least 50 channels I sub to that have over a million subs.
@@some_guy441 do you even fish? If you watch that much you tube when do you even have time? With that much information a man would be confused
Great insight on when to scope. I’ve had my unit for two seasons and have been successful with it, knowing what species and getting bit is the continued challenge. Taking your approach to using side imaging to locate BASS is key. I’ve used that exact swim bait not nearly with that kind of success. Lakes I fish are pounded with pressure, it will give me something different to work on. God Bless and peace,
The room decor looks great.....audio on the money....one thing ....light temperature is to cold...need to warm it up am bit. It makes it look stark. Video is great. Love what your doing!!
luv your videos very informative
That was impressive Johnny!
Good explanation of how to use one. Wish I had one.
awesome to see you crushing them offshore again
Livescope has definitely change the fishing game. There has been times when I ran into schools that wouldn’t even budget or are active. Anyways love your videos FTM!!
Amazing tool and love my livescope. Once you figure how to use it effectively it's the better tools on the market.
Johnny, there is a device that can be mounted next to your trolling motor that mounts the transducer, and is electrically driven to point the transducer where you want it. The beauty of it is you can use anchor mode to keep your boat on your waypoint, ledge, etc., and aim the transducer at the fish, or structure. I watched fish come right to my bait and felt the bite. Very easy way to fish off shore. I saw it when fishing with a guide named Lyle at Table Rock Lake. Contact the Big Cedar Lodge Marina and ask for Lyle’s contact info. I’m sure he’d be glad to help you.
So what’s the device name that mounts next to your trolling motor ?
an academy award performace
perspective mode is awesome!!!
I am very excited because I have the 106SV with Livescope on my kayak. I hope you will make future videos on the Garmin down and side imaging and best settings!
Michael I posted some images on the garmin fishing page for side and clearvu
@@robertboggs1567 hiw do you have it installed on your kayak?
@@ilikerealmaplesyrup the hobie has a place on the underside to mount the transducer and the unit attaches to the H rail with a 1.5" ram ball
Your videos are so clutch!
Great video !
It took me half the summer to figure it out. You are right about tunnel vision. Same rules apply with regular offshore fishing. I use it primarily to see what kind of fish (species) how big and whether or not they are suspending or on the move basically if it’s worth my time and what technique. Also how far in front of me. Trying to video game fish, while cool, is really hard to do, especially if it’s windy. Worth the money to me but maybe not as easy as advertised.
Also, that’s not a bad thing, I don’t want others to have the same advantage as me if I’m being honest lol
Thanks I think some setting tweaks will help you see your lure.
I have learned so much from your videos, Iam gonna help you out. Look up all sync made by all aboard. It will allow you to spot lock while concentrating on your bait. About the only way you can video game fish. Unless water is glass. Or you have a pole mount. Which I did not want.
Helped win the tournament on your home lake. Worth it.
I have this on my boat and have for the last year or so. The thing that most people wont tell you is that you need a secondary pole on your trolling motor that will have the transducer mounted to it.
If you can do that you will never have this problem again.
What problem? can you explain? I'm looking to buy one and need to know why I need to buy a secondary pole. Thanks.
Try the garmin bracket to put ur graph in perspective mode ull get an arial view and can watch ur bait moving when reeling in
For the reasons you mentioned is why we are seeing many mount this transponder on a separate mount that can be adjusted separately from the trolling motor.
I would like to hear your opinion on the perepective mode when you get a chance to dial that in.
Will do!
Thanks for making this video. I was wondering with all those rods on your deck, have you ever accidentally kicked or lost any of your rods overboard? Or if you have ever accidentally stepped on one and broken the rod or reel?
I'd lay 10-1 odds the answer is yes.
Jonny, Thanks for the video. Which 998 have you been running for years off of the bow?
I hope it works because at the present I am having one installed! I know I’ll have to play with it for a while but I feel like it will! HOPEFULLY
I have had livescope for a while and have struggled to use it in bass fishing settings. I can slay the crappie, just struggle with the bass.
Would having a larger unit make it possible to see more, further out???
I feel like you talk about using this in an offshore use mainly. I mainly fish in bodies of water with not much structure in it and depths from 4-12ft. How do you feel about using this in these conditions?
Nice fishing dude. Wish I could join you!
Do you think this unit can help me find deep hydrilla beds or is there some type of interference issue when the bottom is soft vegetation?
Johnny, LiveScope is THE best fishing tool I have ever purchased! However, I have my transducer mounted so I can maneuver it or aim it wherever I want whenever I want. As long as your transducer is on your trolling motor and you are on Spotlock, you probably will have a very hard time watching your bait coming back towards the boat or be able to watch fish follow, eat, or react any number of ways to your bait. I can though because my transducer is independent from my trolling motor. It’s changed the way I fish. I don’t even waste a cast unless I see fish, cover, or both. Love your content.
How did u mount your transducer?
Mike Keen Mike, I mounted it with PVC pipe. There are many ways to do it yourself or you now can purchase several different mounts sold nationally by companies like Cornfield Crappy and others. I made mine after watching many different CZcams videos. Works like a charm.
I mounted mine the same way, love it
That’s why I believe the Hummingbird 360 would be the way to go IMO. It’s independent from your trolling motor and covers a better area.
If you have an Ultrex I highly recommend the All Aboard Marine pole
Got a questions. I'm looking at the Garmin GPSMAP 1243xsv Touch-Screen Fish Finder/Chartplotter and the Garmin GPSMAP 1242xsv GPS Chartplotter/Sonar Combo without Transducer. Which one you recommend. I'm just using it for livescope but the fine details is a must for me and I don't mind spending a little extra. Please help. Thank you
One huge plus about the Garmin is that the GT52 transducer with side imaging can fit on your trolling motor. Having SI on the front of my boat has helped me catch tons of fish without needing to pay for the highest price units and having the ethernet hubs.
If you adjust your speed on your side imaging, and the tension on your pedal, you can effectively have 360 via side imaging. It takes some tinkering but I made it work and it's a solid poor man's 360
Mike Giles i leave my scroll speed on the option to only ping if I’m moving. This works pretty well to make sure quick boat adjustments don’t change the whole screen. Your idea is pretty sweet, I’ve just used it differently.
What is the most affordable livescope setup. I am in the market for a fish finder. Can I just get the livescope with a garmin screen and still have a normal fish finder with maps and stuff?
A little off topic, but what year and model is your triton? I'm looking to get another boat soon and I am looking at tritons
Just watched this after seeing you Mega Live Video,
With regards to positioning the boat, would you not be able to achieve that with a 360?
As soon as I seen that water temp I knew what lake you was on lol
Worth every penny
Been using livescope for 2 years. One thing you'll learn is it won't put fish in your boat you have to do that. The closer you get the more it will spook the bigger fish. Once you spot them you have to stay out and cast to them . I have a side mounted bracket so I can 360 in any direction. You can make out the size and pretty much what they are. I mainly fish for walleyes and crappies wouldn't be with out one. There is nothing like this on the market. Alot of money to spend if your thinking of getting one find someone who has one and have them show you how it works.
If you could have one....... would you rather have mega 360 or livescope...... thanks
Link on the scrounger heads and swimbaits?
I really enjoy your video’s! I have recently purchased a used boat without any electronics. What electronics would you suggest I put on my boat? I know you are budget minded when making suggestions to your viewers but I’m wanting to set my boat up with the best technology.
I’ll be making a video about my new electronics set up soon with all the models, prices, batteries, etc.
Thanks! I will be looking forward to it!
Still dont know how you dont have over a million subs.
Seems like your experiencing voltage drop. Your images will improve when you can maintain 12 volts.
I dont have LS yet, but seems you are right! My immediate thought was the image wasnt very clear.
Not sure if I missed it but which transducer is that? The $500 or the $1500? I know you said you were trying to keep cost down
1500
Time for a new bow mount trolling motor with spot lock if you up for live scope lol.
Will you be getting MEGA 360 on your boat?
what rod rack is that you have?
I gotta give it to you. I woulda kept these results to myself for a while.
Well.. it seems these were supplied by the Bass Tank to try out and also advertise. Seems like a good deal to me.
Jonny, I love your channel. Best fishing channel on CZcams by far. I do have one criticism. Tossing a 5 pounder from waist high just isn't a good look. It's cringeworthy. As energetic as you are I know you have the energy to bend over to release the fish. I see it on most of the CZcams fishing channels and I don't get it. You should set a good example and protect the resource. Yes, I know fish jump out of the water, but that's no excuse. If for no other reason releasing a fish properly shows you care about the resource.
Aww you poor baby. Complaining is cringe worthy. Especially since your one of those elitists who think holding a bass sideways will kill them 😂
I knew there would be a few morons show up with a reply.
PETA called.....
@@pain_weaver holding a big bass sideways only by the jaw and not supporting the tail will kill them. I'm talking big bass not small ones. It tears the ligaments between the upper and lower jaw. It's killed a lot of the donated Texas Share a Lunkers. They can't eat afterwards. They have a write up about how to handle them because they were having a bunch die in the program.
@B Davis true, true! 😁
Hey Johnny, just curious where you have the transducer mounted?
He says right off if you actually watch the video.
@@joekuhl3500 yea it's mounted on your smart @ss.
Wow when you mention the tunnel vision you were reading my mind..i honestly think live sonar in the form it's in now is not the deal. It may have a few advantages but not worth the cost in my opinion. I run lowrance units but I honestly like hummingbirds 360 over live imaging in Garmin and lowrance units. I recently bought a minn kota ultrex and I absolutely love it. Now if I were to get some sort of live imaging what good would spot lock be with you always having to track your targets with the live sonar... But I'm just a weekend angler. Good video Johnny
My partner and I have both the Garmin and hummingbird 360. Helluva a pair. The 360 is awesome, and when we identify what we think is a honey hole, submerged structure, etc, we'll target it with the Garmin to get a better look of what's going on in real time. Game changer.
@@mmancino1982 I definitely hear ya! What an awesome luxury to have. Now that sounds more of the deal rather than just the live imaging
@@BryanJSmith-ne4kv ya it wouldn't be possible if my fishing partner weren't loaded lol
But I'll tell you what, it can be a double edged sword. The more foo-foo crap the more it glitches out. And like he said in the video, it's easy to get tunnel vision and forget what you know because you're too focused on the screens
Great info Jonny! After your "Im not into hoisting trophies" comment, think you are the deal! Somebody who shares my ideas about fishing and offshore....After spawn is over thats where you'll find me...offshore...well unless good buzzbait bite.
I would never mount it to a trolling motor but use a separate pole
Can you not screen record a echo map 93sv or 73sv? I have a livescope on my kayak and getting one on my boat- it is the most interesting product out - no idea what the future of it will be. Excited to watch you use it though
I have a 93sv uhd and those units don't have the capability to run the active captain HELM option which is what he most likely is recording with. The lower end of the lines don't have the helm option which is the selling point on the higher end units.
@@The94accord thank you!
No problem, I was disappointed when I learned that because I thought it would be cool if I saw something interesting. Technically you can record on the unit to a SD card, and transfer that to a computer but the helm option let's you view and download to your phone.
nice video
Man, had no idea they cost that, lol. My bass boat, used admittedly, didnt cost that. Oh well... fishing can be anything to anyone. The best fisherman I ever met was a guy with one rod and a few lures in a box. He fished to eat and to feed his family. It was my grandpa and I dont think he ever came off the water without fish!
shoot fishing is so expensive these days, even just hooks/lures it's cheaper to buy a pack of chicken for your family from the store than it is to catch fish 😅
Put a side mount on the boat, like mine you fished with. Putting trans on the trolling motor not good. I can send photos of my homemade mount if u want. Thanks, KY
Send photos. Please.
Are you worried that the graph will come loose while driving in rough water? Is the mounting hardware solid/ compatible with ram style mounts?
You don't drive your boat around with the trolling motor down lol. Good way to snap the shaft off.
@@pain_weaverwho mounts their graph on their trolling motor? He specifically said graph. I would say you need to brush up on reading comprehension, but I've got you figured out. Just a keyboard warrior going by a fake name making negative comments from his parents' basement. You should get a life.
@@Doug_Goin o really? I don't live with my mom. I don't live in a basement. I also can read just fine. Who's the troll here? Douchebag
Pain Weaver really? You clearly misunderstood the question that was not intended for you.

What Lake was this video filmed ?
Johnny what rod was you using to throw a 1 1/4 scrounger head
7’6” heavy action
Is that the Quantum Smoke you frequently throw? That is a beast of a bait.
I recently purchased the same Garmin unit that you have and the things that I realize the most is being able to see the bottom contour and the structure out in front of me. It is also helpful to see how deep your bait (I.e. crankbait) is getting.
jw were you using spot lock because it make it alot easier jw
We’re you fishing at swepco in arkansas
That was my thought.
Spent 3k for my boat I guess I'm about to put a 3k fish finder on it too
Swepco?
Good information...3000 is alot...
Is it worth it? Does a bear crap on the pope?
Why don't you mount the transducer on the front or side of the boat (where ever you cast most from) then just use spot lock to keep your boat pointed where you want.... can still scan with the troller the way you want but now when locked the motor can move & your live scope stays pointed where you want....
I’m assuming you’re trying to fish on moving tide and not slack tide if the fish are there yet not eating. a unit like this should be use to locate fish to a more accurate level than your traditional fish finder then focus on your normal fishing habits vs trying to video game fish with it 😀
Was the water temp really 94? Wow!
Blows your mind when coming from the North. Lake Norman hits 90's in July/August and is nice even on rainy days.
I've been hoping they would come down in price some after they've been out a while.....doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon. :-(
I’m sure bass pro will do something for Christmas but not sure how much. Prob just a 100 or so.
I caught a Garmin on sell for around $700 including tax! BUT it has panoptics capability witch cost around another $1200 that I have yet to purchase. I will probably pull the trigger and get it but it’s like dang thing cost more than the unit itself! What we do to catch big bass!
@@davidharris4030 That's better than what I've seen, but still a dang chunk. I just want to know that fish are actually there and not just chunking and hoping, off shore of course. So...that kind of puts me on visible structure like laydowns, docks, bridge columns ect....hope you get your system and you slay'em brother....stay safe!!!!
Thanks and same to you!
@@davidharris4030 People say these live scopes and pan optics are like video game fishing and it is to a degree but you still have to get them to bite what you're chunking at them, just because you can see them doesn't guarantee you're going to catch them.
It's good for people that don't know how to fish. Should help them get a bite or two rather than getting skunked. For some of us we don't need that technology to catch a fish.
You sound like a great, fun friend to have on a boat, lmao.
For the price I could have a ball at Academy! Lol . Definitely cool tho
Looks like bubble up at swepco
There are just a few there
I think it’s better to install the transducer separate from trolling motor. Works better
So you want to be hands on instead of hands free?
Pain Weaver yes, considering 30degree angle
I have to admit I’m confused as to how guys can see a crappie jig. But you were having trouble seeing a 1 1/2 ounce jig head and that bait .
It seems that most of the videos out there are for people who've committed to buying one of these units, and how to set it up. I haven't really seen anything of why one of these is worth having. What's the purpose of this, that gives it a $3K advantage over a good fish finder with high-definition screen? Seeing a fish bit more lure is seems borderline pointless (IMHO). Not saying that functionality isn't worth it to fishermen, obviously it is or people wouldn't buy it. But, short of watching/recording a fish approach, hit your bait on a screen just isn't worth 3K to me. Spot-lock, iPilot to follow a depth/course....THAT's a game changer. Can someone tell me what the selling point of this is? Is there a real-world benefit to Live-scope, short of recording a strike?
Are you going to install a 360
Yes, we should have it installed in a few weeks
@@FishtheMoment after you use all this equipment I'd like your ranking in order from which you think is the most important to least important to you if you had to make a living fishing (Sidescan, 2D, Downscan, Spotlock trolling(vs conventional), 360, Panoptics) that's my ranking in order but I don't have all that stuff so I can't really say for sure.
That’s a great idea. I’ll do that
