- Colonel Frédéric Vola, Head of Combat Scorpion Programme, French Army spoke to Melanie Rovery, Principal Analyst, Unmanned Ground Vehicles to describe the modernisation programme including enhanced information and data management capabilities, tactical data sharing and equipment such as the MEPAC (mortar carrier), Griffon 6x6 APC, VBAE, VBCI, Jaguar 6x6 reconnaissance vehicle and land robots.

L'intérêt du Serval c'est de pouvoir être aéroporté contrairement au Griffon, n'est ce pas Colonel ? Quel est le véhicule retenu pour remplir le rôle du VBAE ? le Crabe ? Le Scarabée ? Au fait qui peut me rappeler la signification du sigle VBAE ?
VBAE = Véhicule Blindé d'Aide à l'Engagement.
Pour l'instant aucun véhicule n'a été choisi. En candidats potentiels il y a le Hawkei de Thales et le Scarab d'Arquus. Il me semble que le "crabe" est l'ancêtre du Scarab.
Et oui le Serval pourra être aérotransporté. Il sera dédié aux missions de patrouille / renseignement et recon / evasan.
@@guilhemrouanet1145 Mais j'imagine que le Griffon est également aérotransportable tout comme le VBCI, puisque le Caesar 6X6 qui pèse 17tonnes à mon souvenir est aérotransportable n'est ce pas ? Donc quel est la raison qui a poussé à se doter du serval à côté du Griffon ? Envoyer un plus petit groupe de soldats ?
@@Heimrik01 Oui seulement on ne peut transporter qu'un seul Griffon dans un A400M contre deux pour le Serval.
@@guilhemrouanet1145 , c’est pas un problème pour les transports des Griffons , des Caesars et des VBCI , ils peuvent être transporté par Antonov , la France a toujours fait ça . Par contre je me demande pourquoi la France n’a pas construit un équivalent militaire d’un Antonov ou d’un C 17 Globemaster III au lieu de louer des Antonov ?
@@Sam74213 Le VBCI est transportable via A400M, pareil pour le Caesar. C'est tout l'intérêt du Caesar d'ailleurs, d'être facilement transportable et déployable. Quand à l'absence d'avion de transport lourd cela fait parti des nombreux trou capacitaire de la France. Avec notre budget on ne peut pas tout faire, il faut donc faire des sacrifices, le transport lourd en est un.

These should be half tracks...imho
There’s a damn good reason why half-tracks aren’t a thing anymore.
Simply put, they make the vehicle more complicated and reach a middle ground that rather be a harmonious balance, is having a lot of the worst of both worlds with few advantages over either.
