    It's a highly modified 1972 Les Paul Custom. One of the previous owners decided to install a sustain block drilled for import bridges (because a '72 LPC isn't heavy enough already). Every time I use this guitar I get at least one question about it, so let's just get that out of the way lol.

      Weigh it! I always hold my neck in pain when I see how much 70's customs weigh. My neck is stuffed anyway and 9 pounds is about the absolute limit with a nice padded strap.

      As always, I love the channel and great review. I really like this series of amps. Same price as a mid-range drive pedal, but it's a freaking amp.
      One suggestion...when you do the clean and dirty playthroughs on amps or pedals, maybe run a couple guitars through (fishman, PAF, traditional active, single coil, whatever). Your mix always sounds good and it would be cool to hear some of the other guitars run through as well.
      Keep it up!

    • @genustinca5565
      @genustinca5565 Před 4 lety +2

      @@MK-oz2lf I think so too. Rectifiers are a bit muddy compared to Marks. I welcome this current hybrid movement. Having a solid state power section enables a tighter low end. Back in the day, the hybrid Marhall Valvestates 8100s had a similar quality (though of course with the typical Marshall sound).

    I own the Dual Rec as well as this Zombie, and I gotta say, most often I plug into that little bastard and rock out. So quick and simple, and looks fkn wild perched on my schecter 412 cabinet. I tried it with a 212 cab with my band practice but wasn't enough in that situation. As it's been said, only real negative is the lack of a footswitch. Other than that, a great amp to have.

    • @mctwishvonnoodles9793
      @mctwishvonnoodles9793 Před 5 lety +1

      Not gonna lie, I'm pretty sure the Zombie is based on a Mark-series amp, not the Recto. Given it's really tight without an OD (the OD in this test was completely unnecessary lol) and it has a juicy kind of sound (sounds weird but listen to Metallica's Black Album and you'll know what I mean), I'm not surprised that the Joyo was tighter than the Mesa

    • @johnnysguitarcorner5510
      @johnnysguitarcorner5510 Před 6 lety

      Agufish I don't know the moderns, but from my perspective fishmans are tweaked EMG's in general with a passive voice option in my humble opinion. The KSE's are difficult to describe but I will try: bridge is like a slightly tweaked EMG 85 which makes sense because KSE used that in the past, still tight bass response as hell. Neck is really full and fluid great pickup as well. Hope that helps

    Ive got the zombie my self, i werent realy impressed by it. The clean channel is pretty good, the drive channel i feel is a bit thin sounding ( could be that i use a traditional lp ) the bluetooth works ok, its «ok» for an beginner. The fx loop is also «ok» works alright if you have not too many pedals. I would say its an pretty alright practice amp. Just my opinion about the amp. Nice video Hunter as always :) cheers from Norway :D

  • @189harvesterofsorrow

  • @MattDTN
    @MattDTN Před 6 lety

    I just bought this amp a few weeks ago. It's very nice for the price. You DO need an overdrive or Boost however to get a really good tone, ESPECIALLY of you are tuned really low like myself (A standard and drop G). O recommend this amp for either a practice amp or for a betweener amp while you're saving to buy the one you have your eye on.

  • @robertfalconer5054
    @robertfalconer5054 Před 6 lety

    I have this Little Monster too.
    It's great, I agree it needs a Tube Screamer ish type pedal,
    I have a EHX East River Drive Pedal for that, & it tightens it up.
    With effects through the loop, you're set.
    My Ibanez RG 1570 with DiMarzio's screams through this thing.
    The cab sim is great, awesome buy for 220 in Australia.
    Fantastic, Joyo..

  • @TheBaronDisco
    @TheBaronDisco Před 5 lety +1

    These are cool for recording. I think they sound better going into a Two Notes than into a cab, and easy to have a rig on stand by. Once it is mixed in a track, it's super capable of delivering good sounds (maybe not blowing minds, but workable and the average listener wouldn't think twice)

  • @jakeguitarguy
    @jakeguitarguy Před 6 lety +1

    Like most budget rigs, I’m impressed by the cost-to-quality ratio. You’re right about putting some saturation in front of it, it’s pretty reliant but turns an ok amp into something I can see on a small gig or maybe even a larger stage. Curious to know if anyone out there uses this as a main live rig.

    I love the zombie and the bantamp series. They put out some quality sounds for what they are. My only issue with the zombie was when i put my ts9 into the front it gets a bit fizzy in the top end. This may be the fact I’m using a pretty old and not so great cabinet or that I’m more of an orange amps guy at heart. Other than that I’ve enjoyed it

    Is that low end signal coming out of that amp?!!!! Or is that your bass / mastering? I definitely hear the MB Triple Rec in there. The dirty sound is approaching the Boss HM-2 (Japanese version!) territory used by many of my favorite metal bands like Bloodbath. Did you play around with the bluetooth much? I imagine you would get a lot of signal loss with the signal format just like when using it with my phone and car audio system. Awesome demo as always, dude.

    @bradmiddleton412 Před 4 lety

    I'm wanting an amp that's a bit more portable compared to my Peavey Bandit. Assuming you can run this head into any sized speaker cab (I've seen an Orange micro terror being ran into a 4x12 cab before so I'm assuming you can with this? But I'm not too sure), you could take this head to a gig and use one of the venue's in house cabs, or even plug it j to the PA system if they don't have any speaker cabs for you to use. So on the portability and it being able to be plugged into a speaker cab OR a PA system, for gigging it sounds like a good option

    I love the recto sound but both times i've gotten to play a dual rec i've not been able to dial in a tone I liked, granted that was before I got into tube amps and knew what I was really doing lol
    Super interested in picking up a zombie and running it through the power amp of my egnater armageddon

    Nice work on those tight pinch harmonics on the double track. Do you comp your tracks at all? I’ve been wanting to understand a little more about it so when I do song demos I can get my ideas down a little faster. Any insight would be helpful. I like to hit when the creativity is hot and double tracking really slows me down.

    Do more of these amps. I prefer the sound of this to the dual rec oddly enough

    Ok. It's official. With Torpedo and recording equipment any amp can be made to sound amazing. I've owned and sold this amp and it couldn't come close to this! You got skillz! 🤣

    Yes I'm sure the Mesa Boogie dual rectifier was 'randomly' chosen ha ha. Are you likely to review any.of the others, the.Marshall or the Orange ones?

    Hi. New to all this. As I am looking to invest in equipment soon I got a real beginner question: Does this need an extraneous speaker or does it play on its own?

    Question here. I have a Peavey Rotor Explorer type guitar, with a cheap licensed floyd rose (which i hate), and all the hardware and pickups are Peavey stock. Cant get it in tune, action is way to high, its really not pleasant to play. I was thinking of getting some EMG pickups, changing the floyd for a Schaller Vintage Tremolo, and changing the stock tuners. Would it work as a replacement of the floyd? Do you think this would solve the problem? Which tuners should i buy? Greetings from Argentina!

      For all the money you will dump into it to upgrade it I would just get a new guitar. Wait for some sales and you will end up with a better overall guitar
