Around the 7 min mark when she says, "I'm beautiful" and the crowd erupts. They are erupting a) because she's great, but b) because they have just personally witnessed this character get shoved around and called ugly for 2 hours.
Being in the audience seeing her sing this song is something I will never forget

Cynthia's voice is simply unbelievable. You have to hear her music to understand. She is so authentic...she is able to sing anything. She can sing Disney to Broadway, her range is incredible. She can sing live too and kill it, like here. She is truly a gift to all of us, simple as that.

When I saw the movie I ugly cried through the whole thing. When I first saw this video for this song, which was not in the movie, I cried again because she absolutely captured all the emotions and feelings of the character Ceelie. If you haven't seen the movie I highly recommend it.

For those who do not understand the context of where this song is in relation to the play. Please just do some research about the play/movie the color purple. It makes this song even more powerful.
I had the privilege of seeing Cynthia sing this live on Broadway, and I’ll never forget, there was a man sitting next to me with his two daughters, and when Cynthia sang this, this guy was crying so much. Really powerful moment, cause Cynthia’s character went thru a life that no father would ever want for their child, and must have been moved in a way only parents can imagine.
But experiencing this performance live is a moment I’ll never forget.
the amazing thing about this song is - if you're tuned into the right emotional frequency - you don't even need context. The first time I watched the clip of Cynthia (then Fantasia) I cried so hard, even though I never read the book, or watched the movie. Maybe I over-relate as POC who's been called 'ugly' a lot, but I truly believe this song touches *anyone* whose soul is open.
Her voice is amazing. I can't wait for her as Elphaba.. She was great in this show, she sings from beyond her soul....It's one of my favorite song....I FEEL THIS SONG.. I'm still here.
