Karl Wallinger died today. I feel like someone ripped my heart out. The most beautiful soul is gone. :(
I feel the same. He was one of the greats.
A truly sad day. 😢
Unser aufrichtiges Beileid. Karls Musik wird bleiben. R.I.P.
Rest in Peace... A true artists!
I’ve been mourning all week. Not sure any other artists passing has hit me like this. Truly a great loss. Listening to the discography in tears. RIP Karl
"I read the news today, oh boy"... Karl Wallinger left this world, way too soon! God rest his beautiful soul. He was so gifted, talented, unique, innovative, and original, yet totally inspired by The Beatles, without even coming close to ripping off The Beatles (like so many others have done). Absolute genius, to say the least. RIP, my friend.
Rest up in peace, you musical genius. Karl died suddenly today. He was such a gifted songwriter.
God on my Side is perfection
Gifted songwriter, multi instrumentalist, visionary.
@FacultyLoungeATX it really is
A song like this is a good lesson for anybody in life, Karl left an already successful band to form his own because he knew he had something else to offer. From one of best choruses in all of music ever with Ship of Fools to a top ballad like this that became a world-wide smash for another artist, he is one of Britain's finest songwriters and deserves some recognition for that
Why is Robbie Williams unknown in the U.S.?
I agree he is perfect as Mike Scott says somewhere " having Karl in the band was like they could play anything with an multistrumentist " Karl shouldn't quite The Waterboys to the band record and play as in the first half of the '80s 🙏 there was a great sound coming
RIP Karl
He was brilliant ❤
Absolutely, there are countless brilliant songs on many World Party albums 🙏🇬🇧 thanks for the memories Karl RIP
Rob didn't have to do much did he?! The song was already perfection
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. RIP Karl
World party never got what they deserved. They seemed to fall between the cracks of the 80s and 90s. Seen them live a couple of times. Enjoy your cosmic journey Karl....
Truly gutted, not many days pass when I don't listen to World Party, my boy now sings their songs back to me. Listening to Bang on my Walkman waiting for the bus at the age of 17, very sad. Rip
This man was music, he was love. If you play and you write, I hope his loss will inspire us all. ❤
The world say’s-Give a little bit, give a little bit of your love to me 😥
Such a lovely soul Karl
You gave more than a little bit to the world, and you were heard! 💗🌟🕊
I first saw him playing keyboards with The Waterboys when they opened for U2 on The Unforgettable Fire tour. I went two nights in a row. He was such a standout talent. So many brilliant songs. His death hit me like George Harrison’s. I'll never get over it. You're the One, Karl.
Only just read this sad news. No wonder this is the only Robbie Williams I could tolerate. All the good guys ate dropping like flies. RIP Karl.❤
So sad. Only found out today that Karl Wallinger had died. From the days when he was in The Waterboys to making fantastic music as the World Party, a master of music and words who will be truly missed. Friends didn't believed me when I told them that 'She's the One' was a cover by Robbie Williams. I knew this song from his album way before it became a massive hit. RIP.
RIP Karl. I just found out and shed a tear as you sound tracked some memorable moments in my life. There was an intelligence, harmony and truth to your art. I loved it. RIP my man I'm feeling emotional...
Spent the whole day listening to Karl. He was a writer who was able to capture such an essence in his music that you always retained his songs in your soul. I hadn't played "She's the One" in several years, but hearing it again during the last couple days, brought me back to the same emotional place that found me, the first time I heard it. Just made my senses vibrate!! This is the gift of a truly great musician and person. Damn, I love this song. Rest easy and sweet dreams Karl. Thanks for sharing your gift. Dig, DmGrk
Rest in peace Karl - your music was a part of my life and it always will be
Karl wallinger made great songs during his waterboys period and when he formed his own band world party. He deserves more recognition....
Such a beautiful song by an amazing man RIP KARL SLEEP TIGHT SWEETHEART 😢😢🙏🙏💔💔
RIP Karl, you were a genius.....
I just heard the sad news that Karl has passed away. He was great.
RIP
I had no idea he wrote this song. I thought it was an original by Robbie Williams. Jeez, 27 years ago. RIP Karl Wallinger. May he rest in eternal peace.
Many don't, to be honest many of Robbies biggest hits were largely written by Guy Chambers. that not to diss Robbie but its a fact.
Same with me.😊
@paulemery7353 They wrote alot of songs together as well
Both Karl and Guy Chambers were in the Waterboys at different times, they knew each other since the 80s and wrote a fair bit together
@@paulemery7353 Sure Robbie officially "co-wrote" his hits, but all that means is he stood over Guy Chambers and said "Oooh lewk, I really like that beet... yeah, that's great that int eeet?!"
I loved Karl so much. So sad he's gone.
Guy was so underrated.
Rest easy, Karl. Some of the most beautiful pop tunes ever
Heaven has a new angel. Thank you Karl
I'm ashamed to say that I always thought this wonderful song was a Robbie Williams composition and only found out it wasn't on the day Karl died 😳 😞
RIP
I think this is the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. What a terrible loss. ❤
RIP Karl Thank you for the music.
World Party/ Karl W one of my favorites. Have everything he wrote. So much Beatles influence in his stuff.
Rip to a wonderfully gifted Man - God bless Karl, thanks for the wonderful music 🙏😞🇬🇧
RIP Karl , loved your music
Gone but never forgotten, the world is defo a lesser place with Karl's passing 😞
Had no idea that Karl had written this song the guy is pure talent of the highest order I was living in Manhattan in the 80s when i discovered world party and was just blown away 🙏peace x
RIP Karl..... thanks for the great music
Desperately sad news, tajen far too young. Rest in Peace Karl and thank you for some wonderful music. Goodbye Jumbo was a classic album.
Too son Karl. Thanks for the music. RIP. A musical genius gone way too soon.
I remember 1999 when the radio was playing in the background in my office here in Switzerland. Out of the small and low quality loudspeakers I heard this tune with some background noise and cracking sounds and I said: "Wow, this is great that they play this outstanding song by World Party, never heard it on the radio before! It should get much more airplay and enter the charts." My female office colleague said: "What are you talking about? This is the new brilliant single by Robbie Williams - number one in England!" She was definitely right... and I was astonished how someone has the cheekiness to copy a song with a total similar arrangement and bring in the financial harvest. But that is how music business works. I wish Karl Wallinger all the best in the next world! I will never forget his music and just bought the vinyl version of 'Dumbing Up' - an absolutely underrated album!
One of the greats he was!!!!
Brilliant songwriter who deserves more recognition. Rest in peace Karl
The sun is my alarm and the moon she makes me dream..Thank you World and thank you Karl
Never knew him, miss him so much

Such a wonderful artist. Hope you are dancing free, in your Pan 🎶✨🎶✨🙏
So good it’s ridiculous R.I.P Karl Wallinger
RIP, great songwriter. Always thought Put the Message in the Box was the most positive song I had heard, in a world of challenges and bad news, plus it's a good tune to dance to!
My daughters and I danced to that song when they were young and it will stay in our hearts forever.
He will be greatly missed. I loved his music during my college years, from the Waterboy to World Party - he created and collaborated on wonderful projects.
RIP Karl 😢
This song has become a part of my life, he gave this song to me, it's just sad that I only became a part of his life, I'm not the "Shes the one"😢
Rest in Paradise Sir.❤
Beautiful Karl. ❤ RIP
Long live Karl Wallinger 💔🎶

RobbieWilliams "got nothin' on this baby. "
Loved the early waterboys but when Karl wallinger left I went his way .. what a song writer .. nowhere near enough credit given for his creativity.. ship of fools ? Brilliant .. she’s the one ? Brilliant.. loved world party ..
Rest easy beautiful man. You will be missed 😢😢
I think oasis might have been a fan of this style.
So good live. I wish I could have seen them live. Such a good sound. Sad to hear of his passing. So sorry to his friends and family. We were close in age.
Rest in Peace.
Though they were Boxed, they still playing songs 😊
I love this song.
First heard it on the 1997 movie “Matchmaker” ♥️♥️
A great song. He has always appreciated Robbie’s cover because it has put food on his table and a roof over his and his family’s heads ever since.
Thank you for this.
No he hasn’t:
The song's producers, Guy Chambers and Steve Power, used the drummer and bassist of World Party's touring band (neither of whom played on the World Party version) to perform the backing track for Williams, resulting in a very similar-sounding cover. World Party's frontman and songwriter Karl Wallinger was not made aware that a cover was going to be released using his own band. When the song became a hit, and after having experienced a near-fatal brain aneurysm around the time of the song's release, Wallinger stated that he experienced "ongoing bitterness", going on to say that "the song had a much better time than me, popping off to the Brits while I was at home eating crackers dipped in water".
When introducing the song in live performances, Williams often claims that it is one of the best songs he's ever written, despite not actually having written the song. This culminated in a telephone outburst from the song's actual writer, Wallinger, to Chambers, stating "Your fucking friend Robbie Williams. Tell him from me that he's a cunt". Williams has never publicly acknowledged that "She's the One" is a cover of a World Party track
@@pete456113
If that’s true then it’s a crazy story. Doesn’t he get royalties as the writer of the song every time William’s sings it or it’s on the radio?
@@edwardmulholland7912he does. But imagine if you’d written it and Robbie neither acknowledges that it was you, not him that wrote it, and actually says it’s the best song he’s ever written.
@@pete456113
It’s no secret that Robbie’s ego is bigger than his actual talent. We know who wrote the song, and anyone who reads the credits on Robbie’s record will know.
Karl Wallinger is annoyed that Williams doesn’t credit him, but the royalties sweetened out the bitterness.
@@pete456113
I just found this quote from an interview from last year regarding Robbie’s cover.
“Yeah, luckily for me”, Wallinger says, his voice changing to a more serious tone. “I had an aneurysm in 2001 and I couldn’t do anything. So, it was lucky for me that he did it, because he kept us all in biscuits. Everything would have changed; I’d have had to have sold the kids. Got rid of the house and dismantle everything”.
RIP Karl.
RIP 😢
So very sad he’s gone
rest in peace, call who died yesterday, a close friend of mine, and a true musical legend, and quirky intellectual soul.
He will be forever immortalised
real talent!

Great loss, truly brilliant songwriter and musician RIP Karl
Rest in Peace, Karl Wallinger - this came unexspected, sad news. Beside "World Party", i recommend discovering the tracks "Politics" and "Big Blue Ball" by Karl.

The real version of this song.

Buen viaje
Brilliant R I P ❤
Wow! I'll miss him.
Superb
Chris Sharrock on the tubs, also played for Robbie Williams.
And Tessa Niles was on backing vocals on this show and She worked with Robbie Williams on 2000 till 2005
@@matunahuel95 yeah, she's worked with a few better people than Robbie Williams though
@@stu2257 Ha yes, Tessa and Kate Kisoon were the best chorist on the business, especially on the 80s
Peace 🕊️ Karl … rest easy… thank you 🎶💐

Lovely Steevee...Thanks mate👍🍻
❤
RIP x
Rip😢
So sad, that he never really got the recognition, for being the giant song writer/ musician he so obviously was...and then Robbed by R williams, who claimed - he'd written this song....!
Robbie really added his own style to his cover 😂
He even used World party’s touring musicians to record it
🙄loll
But Karl’s version will always be the best
He did actually
yep, it's a lacklustre karaoke version of the original. Pretty much par for the course.
😢🌹
When we all had such high hopes for Labour...
