i made the mistake of getting one on each ear so i have to sleep on my back now :'-))
crybap I am getting one on each ear as well I going to put salon ear protectors so it doesn't get infected
+Marielle L (CocoLateAngel) I would just wait a month or two before getting the second piercing if you don't think you can sleep on your back because it's the weight of your head will irritate the piercing make you get an infection and take longer to heal
Toni Sutton I have like 20 pillows on my bed so I'm elevated enough where I just fell asleep on my back without issues.
This is soooooo funny lmaoooo sorry :(
kokohai ohh
I love the way he says okay a lot for some reason it’s really comforting
Sixx Vasile his voice is really reassuring
Lol, me too
Ok
AFTER CARE: 4 teaspoons of non-iodized sea salt poured into 1 gallon of distilled water.
Pour solution into a coffee cup, microwave for a few seconds, and soak ear into solution for 10-15 min.
Can I soak it in rubbing alcohol
Justine Brijmohan no definitely not
adrian flores ya smaller proportions you can make it at 1/2 tsp per 1 cup. this is called saline for anyone who is wondering
Justine Brijmohan this dries out your piercing and makes you vulnerable to infection- bad idea too harsh
adrian flores thanks!
As someone with 9 piercings in total (Lobes, doubles, Helix, Rook, Conch, Belly button and Daith) here is how I’ve taken care of them:
Even though some cartilage can take about 3 months to heal, it won’t be fully matured, so even though it’s a pain in the ass, still continue to wash/soak every piercing in saline solution every day. A good little trick is to buy a travel sized spray bottle and make your own ‘on the go’ salt spray with a few drops of tea tree oil and spray your piercings a few times a day. If you did an oopsie like me and got piercings on both ears and now have trouble sleeping, do yourself and your sleep schedule a favour and buy an airplane pillow, this allows you to sleep on your side with your ear fully secured away in the hole in the middle.
Winwin could step on me & I’d thank him so you have to wash out the sea salt solution after or just pay dry it?
@@yetzyreyes9921 Just pat it dry, the few drops of tea tree oil mixed in with the spray solution helps keep the piercing sight moisturised and is an antibacterial so just pat off the excess water and you should be good :)
Winwin could step on me & I’d thank him thank you!
Tea tree oil isnt nessacery it can irritate your ear
I know I can trust you because of your username
Cartilage piercing healing in two months... Hmm this is the shortest I've heard
1msnicky that's if you get it done by a pro
I got mine done almost 4 months ago and still hurts to even touch it
Mine healed within two months, it really depends on how fast your body heals
I've had my industrial for 7 months now and it recently got infected and hurts like hell
Shemanta Banik got mine done last week, was saying it doesn't hurt and no hurts like a bitch 😩
I just got my Cartilage piercing today and I underestimated how much it would hurt to the touch. It's not that bad tho! I'm excited for it to heal!
Sunflower Scented how are you now? Just got mine and they are hot
I got my cartilage pierced in both ears yesterday and a tip I learned for those of us who can only sleep on our sides is to either get a travel pillow or to get a clean towel, roll it up and place it in a upside down U shape on your pillow it’s super comfortable and keeps you off the piercings :)
I'm so confused. One side is saying don't do this, another is saying don't do that. I don't know what to do
Right? Some were saying use sea salt and others say use table salt and not sea salt! Which is it?
@@Esalem81 sea salt for sure!!! table salt has sometimes other components which are bad for your piercing
@@Esalem81 The only reason to use sea salt over TS is due to TS usually containing Dextrose, sugar, which can cause a yeast infection. Still, the amount of Dextrose is so small that it doesn't truly matter.
OMG Thank you! I like how you keep everything simple and get straight to the point! I just subscribed.
im here becoz i got cartilage piercing on both my ears..and i sleep sideways . im not a back sleeper human..this is hard
NotSoSavvyy Channel HOWD U DO SLEEPING ON UR BACK PLS SHARE UR TIPSSSS
What I do is I put my hand under my head but put my ear between my thumb and index finger so my ear is not touching anything. It has worked for me I hope it helps someone else :)
@@In_Charge712 I do something similar! I sleep on my arm and let my ear sorta hang in that space between my arm and my pillow so that I don't lean on it
u might wanna try using travel pillows, the c shaped ones. it'll be easier to sleep sideways.
I'm getting mine done in 2 weeks and this helped thank you!
Thank you! This puts me a lot more at ease!
I got a triple flat helix last week and I feel like all my energy and my immune system is focused on healing the cartilage. I’ve become a wimp lol so I’ve been sleeping earlier and I’ve been getting tired easily because of the piercings. My hair does get caught on the back and it hurts! But I love it! I’m a wait until it’s fully healed then I’ll get the next ear done! 😂
Got my helix pierced yesterday and I love it!
Super helpful! Thank you!
I gotten my cartilage pierced at 14...Its still sore after getting it on Wednesday... This video is very helpful
Thank you for the info. It really helps 😀
I had my helix done 2 weeks ago, it didn’t hurt when it was pierced and didn’t hurt after and still doesn’t hurt. Feels like it’s healed, no problems at all with it.
It took me a year to fully heal my first cartilage piercing. I just got a second one on the same side, sometimes if I really feel like I have to lay on the side that is healing them I use a U shaped neck pillow and put my ear in the hole and the round curve of the pillow supports my head.
Super helpful thank you 🙏🏼.
Very informative!! Thank you
I love your videos ❤ they are very helpful ^^
I got mine done about 3 and a half months ago. I stopped cleaning it after about a month because I ran out of solution which is super bad I know! I didn't sleep on it when I first got it done but now I occasionally I sleep on it but it doesn't hurt at all! And like maybe once every two days I touch it and it feels a little sore but not a lot. I'm picking up some cleaning solution tomorrow, wait till it doesn't hurt when I touch it and switch the stud because you cant really see it in my ear! This was a useful video thank you
for sleeping on the right size I suggest a body pillow. I already had one and it helps me stay asleep on the right side by just hugging it all night
I really want a helix piercing but I INCREDIBLY afraid of keloids! Is this something to be that worried about?
Makayla Jackson answer please
I got two made by a pro. No bleeding, no swelling, no liquids, no pain, nothing. A month in now. It's only a bit tender when it gets twisted by accident.
I just shower it a min or 2 daily, that's basically it.
Makayla Jackson So long as you don't mess with it AT ALL and treat it like a newborn child while cleaning it then you're chances of developing a keloid are low. Some people (like myself) are more prone to all different types of keloids, but that's just all the more reason to baby it until there's absolutely no pain.
Right. Keloids are due to a genetic thing and are rare and can only be removed with surgery. Irritation bumps are bumps that come up with irritation in the piercing, and they can go away after a cleaning, etc. Just try not to irritate your piercing and you'll be fine. :)
I'm afraid of that too.
am using only olive oil and it's awsome !!
I just got a double helix on my right side yesterday. Soooo glad I chose to only get one side done because I also got my second lobes done and it was already hard to sleep on the one (I’m a side sleeper). I think I need to get a travel pillow.
I got my double helix and triples done at the same time
I just got my first yesterday, it really didn’t hurt that bad when I had it done but it’s still pretty sore.
Is it healed now?
Just got my conch pierced. Deff going to do that sea salt soak technique. Thanks for the good advice.

car0libus _ did it hurt when you got it peirced?
Kissland Angelic' It did hurt less than I expected actually. I would say 2/10 when the needle pierced the cartilage. Then my ear was swollen and numb for about a week. Pain is subjective. I usually don't bear well the pain but it was manageable.
car0libus _ how is it holding up for you?
Kissland Angelic' do you mean healing ?
car0libus _ yes, like did you run into any issues? and can you wear headphones with it in?
Great vid, thanks!
I did my double helix at home. These tips r amazing💞💞💞
I've had my cartilage piercings for 3 years now and they never healed... my piercer used a curved barbell and it ended up angling the piercing, caused hypertrophic scarring from irritation. My piercer also never told me I should downsize jewelry after the initial healing period; to top it all off, I turned out to be allergic to surgical steel (it DOES have nickel) and once again, when I brought this up with my piercer years ago, he insisted that it was the BEST material I can get and didn't let me switch it for something else. He said I was having problems bc I was messing with them too much...
And the only reason I even found all of this out was because the tiny af barbell he put in got loose and the front slipped off, and I ended up visiting the nearby piercing studio where I'm currently at. The first thing that piercer told me was there's absolutely no way I can ever wear a hoop in that piercing bc of how much it's angled and suggested that it'd be best for me to let them close and re-pierce.
The piercing studio (old) was recommended to me by tons of people and had a great reputation. Shows that you shouldn't trust a studio just because of their rep - at the time, I wasn't aware of the big 3 brands of body jewelry so I assumed he knew best, but if I'd known that surgical steel isn't always the best, I would've gone to a different piercer.
Aw sorry to hear about this. What jewellery did you eventually change to?
Got a helix along with 2 upper lobes yesterday. Hurt like hell and bled a shit ton, but the bleeding stopped and I’m feeling great! The needle scared me a bit, but I’m the only one in my school with stretched ears & a cartilage piercing. I love sticking out lol!
I’m getting my helix pierced this week, wish me luck!!! (I am getting it done with a needle☺️)
I have a cartilage piercing with the ball screwed on and I was wondering how do you take it out because mine is stuck
i got mine done 1 week ago and i have been avoiding sleeping on it, touching it , over cleaning it. yesterday for the first time i accidentally hit it about like 2 hours later i felt the soreness , pulsation , & a head ache , i was in pain big time. today i woke up and it doesn’t hurt or pulsate it’s just sore to clean & red but not swollen.
Should I wait 24-36 hours for the first cleaning? Is a salt soak the best first cleaning?
here because my piercer accidently pierced cartilage for my 3rd hole on my ears :') rip me
update: that one hole still hasn't healed and has a large keyloid on it now. Every time i take that earing out and put it back in im poking the back through. Kinda thinking about taking it out, letting it heal up, and then getting it pierced again. triple rip me
I got mine done today it's painful and my right side is the best side I sleep on and I have to sleep on my left 😭 I have a small bar in my right ear! And yes there is room for it to swell
Tea tree oil with coconut oil helped me with those stubborn piercing bumps :)
Got my rook pierced yesterday and I love it! The only thing I'm confused about is if I'm supposed to move it or not while cleaning.
I just got mine today and I’m confused how to clean it. Did you ever figure it out?
thanks for this video , i feel so much better about getting them now
I got two cartilage piercings about 7 months ago and they just finished healing completely. It took a while and a lot of patience and theyre finally at a point where they dont hurt at all anymore, and I'm looking to put a small ring in one of them, but I'm concerned about the ring getting caught on stuff more easily than the stud I have in right now. Anyone have any experience with this?
it took me an entire year to heal (+ get rid of keloids) on my industrial and tragus. and that was before I was able to take them out. My tragus swelled up to double the thickness of my unpierced one and it never went down so I can only wear rings. barbells are not an option for me. (tried barbells, unable to find anything that fits that area that isnt either too small or too big. Tried to put a barbell in once and it made me swell up and get more keloids.) And on my industrial, I got 'buffer'/'swelling' jewellery at 38mm and even after it's all healed, I can't go any smaller or else my ear will feel really tight and squished. also, my left lobe feels no pain, but my right lobe (whenever anything goes near it) hurts really really bad. I want to stretch but it hurts so much to put even normal earrings into my ears that idk if i'll ever be able to in that ear. (they were done with a gun when I was about 3. Would've got them done properly if I had the choice) I guess my body just doesn't like piercings lol
I got double helix piercings in both ears yesterday, and now I'm only able to sleep on my back... it was pretty silly of me not to have thought of it before, but I should've done one ear first and then the other. I wish my piercer would've advised me on that ☹️
Very helpful thank u
my cartilage piercing was fine for 4 days but today I woke up with it extremely red and painful. I'm not sure how it happened because I haven't had any issues with it till this morning. It still has not gone away and it throbbing even more now.
I got mine 5 months ago and I just switched it today and now the puncture is turning white is that infected please help
I have my tragus pierced and it's only been like one month and I can sleep on it perfectly fine I'm not saying you're wrong you are kind of right
I’ve had my helix done 5 day a go I’ve been in pain all day and it’s hot to the touch is this to be something worried about xx
sleep with a travel pillow. The one that looks like a "U". If you sleep with that you can lay the piercing side down into that so your piercing doesn't get compressed.
If you have long thicker hair like i did keep in mind it will snag on the back bar until u can change it out.
I got mine done 3 days ago and this healing process is the most painful ive ever endured. its very swollen and incredibly sore
Sara Mic same with me :/
i did my double helix about 1 week ago. It stopped hurting too bad and the swelling went down after the first few days but now it’s swelling up bad and looks very irritated but i don’t see any signs of infection...i did what my piercer told me(clean twice a day with q-tips with salt water and dont move it) so i seriously have no idea what’s wrong with it😭😭😭
I just took out my cartliage peircing on the top of my ear I've been wearing my carlitage piercing for about awhile more then 4 months and I just took mine out with scissors and i cleaned it with ear soultion that Claire's gave me and i cleaned it with cutips and cotton balls to make sure mine didnt get infected because it was hurting and sleeping on the side if my top ear was bugging me so I just took mine off
For younger people it heals in 3 weeks to 6 weeks
Would you recommend a captive bead ring or a barbell? I've heard rings are more prone to infections and uneven healing but I'm not sure if that's true... I think a ring looks prettier but if it's higher risk I will take a barbell for sure
Can you do a video on industrial piercings?
Wow my double helix was super varied heal time. One healed in 7 months and the other one is still not healed (going on year 2 soon). Sadly, I have upper lobe piercings that took longer than 2 months too.
I got my helix piercing a week ago and I'm using isopropyl alcohol to heal it, but a lot of people say that I should avoid using alcohol to heal the piercing because it dries it out. so should I stop using alcohol or not?
I've had my double helix for 2 years. Never healed and so painful... I finally got so discouraged I took it out. Super pissed. And after everything I went through to maintain them, now have giant keloids and closed up holes. My heart is broken 💔 😭
Just got my cartilage piercing 4 days ago and there's a lot of dried blood stuck at the back. Should I get rid of it using a Q tip with solution? Or just let it be?
Should you move the jewelry when cleaning it ? I have a conch and a daith
I wasn’t even told what gauge my piercing was... how do I find out
My sister got her cartilage pierced then took the earring in and out literally every day starting from the DAY AFTER she got it, because she couldn’t have piercings with her sport. It’s been 7 months and it’s healed with no problems.
I got mine, never took it out and clean it regularly with salt water. It’s been 3 months and mine is so irritated, red, and sore to the touch. Why?!?!?
people’s bodies are just different
you are probably allergic to the earring
E Ray you’re not allergic to the earring you’re allergic to the type of metal
lol no so that means they are allergic to the earring........
So the person that pierced my ears said to twist them so I do and it really helps and I also got them pierced at the same time
Both of my ears at the same time
Thank you. This was really informative.
I'm thinking about getting my helix done shortly but I'm worried because of sleeping as I toss and turn at night without being aware of it.
Is it worth getting done or is it too much of a risk?
Katharine Duff I wouldn't recommend it because it's extremely painful to lay on and it will keep u from sleeping
I think it's worth it. Sorry this is late!
I got my helix pierced yesterday. I toss and turn a lot, but it hurts a lot to lay on it, so you’ll probably wake up.
I got my helix pierced like a year ago, I toss and turn, and ibuprofen was my best friend
Can you use a pad for cover the piercing and sleep?
I learned alot
I did my cartilage piercing like 1 week ago and today my ear started to swollen .. is a bit red and when u touch that part it’s “ burning “ ( probably today I’ve touched it as well a lot without realizing and my hand was dirty ) ... - sadly
Anyway , betadine I think will be enough to clean it ..
Any suggestions?
its been 7 months, i feel like i still have to treat it really gentile.... I'm terrified of changing the piercing
Claudia Bolanos ahh me too I still baby mine and it always turns red if the area is touched even a bit
What should I do if my job requires me to be in the water? By the time my job starts, it will be about 6 months since getting it pierced.
I made sure to go to a pro for my double helix and they said wait 6 months before switching earrings/to heal. Also to rinse with plain distilled water after the salt water. Any idea why their advice differed?
Hey! I have a question, after making the saline solution, how long is it good for? Does it have to be stored in room temperature or can I store it in the fridge?
Thank you for this video, I just got a daith piercing yesterday and am having trouble cleaning t as Im worried I may damage it. The hardest part for me is sliding the captive ring a bit. If anyone has any specific tips for daith piercings ;et me know.
Do you have any tips on how to fully clean a cartilage piercing with a butterfly back (sigh) & small sized? I think it's a 5/16 mm so it's hard for it to breathe a little :/
The skin around my cartilage piercing (2 weeks old) looks like it’s stretching and when I’m cleaning it the earring is able to move sideways and the skin looks like it’s 'baggy' around the hole.
WOULD ANYONE KNOW what's happening to my piercing?
i got a double helix last week. The second one (lower piercing) has a line around me ear, going to the back of the pricing.
Recently got my helix piercing with a piercing gun (yeah, now I know :\). Does anyone have info about re-piercing the holes with a needle or is it best to just leave it alone? I still have the original earrings in.
I got my conch pierced and god damnit do it miss sleeping on my right ear 😅😭 what a commitment. It looks so rad though
Question: the back of my helix appears to have moved 2mm towards the outside of my ear, how big of a problem could that be?
I got my piercing done two weeks ago and she used a really short bar and now its sinking. im freaking out
Got a helix piercing yesterday with a gun. It didn't hurt this go round (mind you all the first time I got it I didn't know a thing. But it hurt really bad! So I took them out. This time (with a gun AGAIN(BIG DUMMY) I had them redone at Claire's bigger DUMMY. And afterwards I was curious to know how to better care for them...and today I just found out that it's super dangerous to get helix or any cartilage piercings done with a gun. Smh. I don't want to take them out. I waited 7 years to have them repierced. Any advice on how to better manage them. They don't hurt at all. No redness nothing. They actually feel way better than the first time I had them done 7 years ago.
Hi, I went to a piercing shop to get my Helix pierced, he used the stainless steel needle but he put in a regular piercing earring with the butterfly backing in my ear. It's been 2 months since I had it done, I want to know should I take it out and replace it with surgical steel hoop ring. I have done the sea salt soak like you said it's healing pretty good, so I just need to know should I leave it in for another month or exchange it? I think you for your videos they are helping me a lot with my piercings.
How many weeks will I need to clean my helix piercing for? Thanks
3 days ago i got my cartlidge peircing, its is still normal for it to still be painful, red, and swollen. I took it out but i want to put it back in. I don't know what to do.
I have a bump near the hole and it’s irritating my ear and I’m not sure what to do. It doesn’t hurt it’s just itchy when I touch it.
How would you go about stretching a cartilage peircing? Mine is currently a 20g but eventually want to be at a 16g. Tips? Steps?
I just got mine yesterday, theres no swelling or nothing, just a tiny bit of clear liquid which i expected cause i got the same with my septum piercing
I got my cartilage pierced five weeks ago. And I guess it's starting to swell. My worry now is I guess I got the wrong studs. Mine has a clip kind of lock at the back. Not the screw one. And I think it's too short no room for it to heal. What should I do? Can I change it to a longer one?
do you touch/rotate jewelry when cleaning?
I just got mine done a week ago and I was told it would take six moths to heal.
Thank you so much !!! The place I went to said I could hange it after 2 weeks :/ clearly they were completely wrong . I also didn't know u were supposed to put a bigger piercing for the cartilage cuz of inflammation , no wonder my ear hurts like hell cuz the piercing's too small lol. But big help thx
mine is also small. I got mine today :( is it fine?
Okay, I was told to hold a cotton swab to the piercing for about 3 minutes and then I started hearing about just dunking the ear in the sea salt water, which one is the better option?
With getting a double or triple outer cartilage piercing, does the weight of the ones above the ones on the bottom make the healing process go slower? :)
I'm back! What do I do my ear is literally bleeding a lot
I got both helix piercings done about 5 months ago and still every few weeks they flare up. They get swollen really easily if I bump it or get hair products on it. At this moment my right helix piercing is super swollen and painful. I’m not sure what to do, I don’t clean them because I don’t have non iodized salt or saline solution
Well it sounds like u need to get some non-iodized salt!
Does a conch piercing fall under this category’s for you have a separate video for that? I also wear glasses and notice it bumps my upper ear piercing when they slip down my note. Do you have any tips for that? I am hoping it doesn’t cause issues but I do clean my glasses so it doesn’t transfer any bacteria. I try my best to make sure it doesn’t fit but i can’t do much about it.
Thank you for all your videos. They are very helpful! I plan to get my Daith this winter 😬
I went to a tattoo parlor to get mine done. The lady told me to wait for 24hrs and to start twisting it wet as often as possible. Then after 10 days I could change the earring that she first put in. Now I'm not supposed touch it for 2 months and to give my ear a salt water rinse. Like wtf
I really want a helix piercing but I'm worried about it getting infected and damaging my ear, how likely is that?
