I think games can die, mostly games of a huge franchise, and example of that is the COD franchise, you don't normally hear somebody say: "Oh yeah, I feel like playing some good old Call of Duty Ghosts"
I also think that games that are more story focused can die for example there are companies that specialize in those types of games, companies such as Telltale and others.
But well, that's just my opinion...

In my heart, Minecraft is good enough for me to play: The joy of exploring, building, caving, crafting, battling, and MAKING, is the perfect formula for a game to be enjoyable, however, the only thing that IN MY OPINION, that Minecraft needs, is permanent shaders, low end shaders that look beautiful and do not lag the devices people play in, these shaders should be the deafult textures.
Don't worry the devs at mojang said that in the next major update they will add a new super fancy graphic setting and make a game look more beautiful with good lighting and mob shadow :)

I'd like to see an update that just kind of improves upon what already exists. New things, but not a ton, and making sure they aren't too different from what exists. Better mob AI, better worldgen, more structure and biome variety. Just little tweaks to make the game more up to date.
The answer is that everyone has their own experience.
If someone has played Minecraft or any game in general for years, they might not have the same feeling in their early days of playing the game. If some one has stayed since the beginning till' now, they've kept strong on faith on the game.
For new players, well... of course, just like what happened to many people long time ago. They will experience the magic of Minecraft.
Couldn’t of said it better brother ! Reinstalled the game and tried to replicate the same experience but it’s not the same , I got pretty bored after the first couple of hours . Minecraft is dying , even though the new updates are coming out the things released are so boring and well useless, can’t wait to play this new game if it does get popular.

Alright, so here's my actual input rather than a heartwarming comment, and this being my very first introduction to the existence of Hytale... I'm serious, this is the first time I've heard of this game.
You're totally right that in this day and age, we shouldn't get too hyped up with new games, as mainstream games have become less and less built for actual quality, and purely to build off successful franchises and make quick bucks. But, assuming that Hytale actually lives up to its expectations and becomes a new, more modern and more beautiful Minecraft, perfectly matching if not surpassing the appeal behind Minecraft's formula, then here's what I think will happen to Minecraft.
... nothing.
That's right.
I don't think anything is going to happen to Minecraft even if Hytale is very successful. Why do I feel this way? Well, many reasons.
1. Minecraft's rise in popularity is no incident. The constant stream of free updates, additions and refreshing old mechanics shows that this game hasn't been abandoned, and is being tended to, to add more content that it deserves. Some may argue this content should have been there before, but I disagree. And I think the rising surge of content is MORE than welcomed. And why shouldn't it be? It means that even veteran players have something new to look forward to, and it's not like they needed that incentive to begin with.
2. Minecraft has already had competition in the form of games like Terraria, No Man's Sky, Starbound, Astroneer, Space Engineers, Stardew Valleys, Ark Survival Evolved, Don't Starve, Unturned, the Forest, Oxygen Not Included, Fortni- ... Oxygen Not Included, and many others. All of these games have competed for Minecraft's popularity, some much more than others like Terriar, Starbound and No Man's Sky. Which by the way, I've played over 120 hours of No Mans Sky and ABSOLUTELY LOVE. I'd even go as far to say that I like it more than Minecraft (plz don't murder me). But even with that being the case, I still love Minecraft, and so does everyone who's ever played it. Why?
3. Minecraft has... something special about it. I can't place it, but there is just something special about Minecraft that has allowed it to span the test of time, and stay with us, even as all these other newer games have showed up. What is it? Maybe it's the nostalgia of your first block placement? Maybe it's that harmonic beauty? Maybe it's the fact that it was one of the first games that gave you true freedom? Maybe it's the beautiful world which has only gotten more beautiful? Maybe it's the mystery and utter lack of lore/story? Or maybe it's just the way it makes you feel?
I don't know what it is, but I think we can all agree that there is something about Minecraft that always pulls us back.
Is Minecraft an IMMORTAL game? I don't know honestly, maybe it is. But there is one thing I can absolutely say without a shadow of a doubt. No many how many games come out, and no matter how much competition there is, Minecraft will always have a special place in the memories of anyone who's played and loved it. And so long as those people remain to share their love for this game that started off with uncertainty if anyone would even like it, and they continue to spread that love to others, I believe that Minecraft will be among those games that are Eternal.

@@alorgb7440 the community was at its worst around 2015-2018. Near the end of 2018 people got nostalgic so its been making a comeback, plus Fortnite came out, and nobody likes that. The amount of active players a game has doesn't correspond to if a game is dead or not; its how toxic/lively that community is.

As long as Mojang keeps making great updates like the nether update and soon the caves update. This game will last a long time. This is one of the reasons why it has so many comebacks.
I have to admit that Hytale looks promising, really promising. They can improve everything that people don't like about Minecraft, make it more modding-firendly, better-looking and what not but what they can't do is recreate or duplicate all the things and memories Minecraft has created.
Also somebody once said "only restrictions lead to creativity" and I think that's what always made Minecraft what it was. To this day it is a game where we overcome the restrictions by creativity.
dasdawidt iirc Mojang themselves said they are never going to add outright furniture to the game for this exact reason.
And if you look into some high-tech minecraft servers like sci-craft you'll realize that even despite all the restrictions people can make amazing, mind-boggling things like automatic quarries without any mods.
Hytale looks good so far but as long as i can't do things like that in it, minecraft will be the one for me

I’ve been playing mine craft on and off for 9 years and it still holds up in my opinion.
Ive spent hours and hours playing single player and enjoyed building houses and structures.
They’ve kept the same old system in the game from day one while adding new content witch hasn’t ruined the game it self.

I started playing Minecraft again recently, and it's just as good as it used to be, well actually even better. But it never gets old. You never finished the game, there is always more to do. The only problem is that not everyone has the will or patioence to do stuffs in you survival world, but one it's done, it's way more worth it than any result you get by playing any other game.
Yes, iPad and sometimes computer. I love the game, but sadly not everyone plays its anymore... Plus people who once played MC are older now, so they Fort Nite instead :( I want to tell everyone in my school to play MC but everytime a person did, they would get mocked at. It's really sad. I played the game since SECOND grade and now I am in NINTH grade. I thank MC for making life awesome and still to this very day! 👍

Even if I haven't played minecraft every single day in over a year, the nostalgia I get from logging into a server or starting a new world from time to time, is overwhelming. Minecraft is always going to have a place in my heart for years to come, and I think that's what's going to keep this game alive for future generations.

Wow, you certainly inspired me to speak my thoughts on Minecraft. While I love the amount of biomes and even thought they are in the process of being updated, one of the biggest issues I have had is the mountains. I wish minecraft would add tall tipped mountains. Another thing is I wish they would add more randomly generated structures. Not large ones but little things like camp sites, (empty or not I wouldn't care). Or maybe just some old ruined stone walls or cottages. I am very hopeful for minecrafts future as it seems to be adding things that are actually exiting!

Honestly the new textures are one of the things that are making me really love the new minecraft update just makes the game feel alot more engaging exploring all of the new textures in different environments and other things
I really wish minecraft would add more biomes, more creatures. Features that may be as little as possible but can give a big change. Imagine if we got volcanoes on minecraft, or being able to tame a dragon! Imagine new biomes and structures to explore, animals and creatures to meet or fight. Yes, minecraft is good, but it’s never enough. There is a lot of things that can be added to make it even better. And to me, minecraft seems to be improving quite a lot.

Well,not all of the ideas were good for minecraft.the crafting system was ok.If you make any game REALLY close to reality then you lose the spirit of the game and all of sudden you are playing life,just that.Minecraft needs the formula that had all these years "a simple game to play,a hard game to master in all of its areas"plus if you remove all the useless animals,features and blocks you get exactly that.
This is the opposite of evolving, it reminds me some old people who are talking about the new generation and they wish to go back to the old days

Hytale has better grafiks, a model maker, more possibilities thanks to C#, more weapons, more monsters, actual bosses and much more. Minecraft only beggs for money.

Anders see de hui lmao hytale will maybe have a better experience than minecraft thanks to more mobs, monsters and everything... the minecraft expierience is something wonderful too, but in hytale will be much more fun things to do in my opinion. I just dont like mc anymore cuz they cancelled all consoles edition ( i play on console ) and smacked us with the shitty bedrock edition only begging for money.

Back around 2015 when I got my Xbox one I never bought minecraft again. Recently I bought it again and seeing how much more they added overwealmed me. Rn I cant stop playing cause it did what exactly it did back in 2015. Cool me off from a hard day and got me happy as a put my last block my house just to start another project as the ideas in that game are near limitless :,)))

I love Minecraft, I always install other versions of it because it always interests me and makes me play it everyday.
i will never forget that when i was 7 years old, for my birthday i wanted Minecraft sooo bad,and hopping on a server was MINDBLOWING i was having the time of my life! after school the first thing i will do is go in Minecraft non stop. (thanks for my mom for getting Minecraft for me for all these memories!)

After not playing for a few years I recently hopped on to all the new updates and have been nothing but surprised at everything they’ve done. For me it’s definitely good enough
