Bilaruk: The Kaimeran Leviathan | Speculative Evolution Multituberculate Whale

- There are many creatures called 'whale' by the peoples of Kaimere. Largest in the inland sea is not even a placental mammal: the bilaruk, largest multituberculate known to Assembly naturalists. Though they mainly feed on seagrass, they also readily process benthic fauna like worms and crustaceans.
Songs of the Inland Sea is the sequel to Tales of Kaimere! It is a nautical anthology, with all six short stories and novellas taking place in aquatic settings. There are heists on a ship, a desperate chase through a marsh, and a survival story from the perspective of a killer whale!

Honestly. I prefer this iteration a lot more than the previous one. This one really looks like it can cross a sea filled with Motomazors, Sharks and plesiosaurs.
Agreed!
mass extinction: happens*
ungulates: yo oh yo oh a pirates life for me
ah, mammals and this habit of becoming completely aquatic for no reason.
I wonder if our beavers, otters and seals might be on the track to do that.
@@josh26566 like Penguins, they say " sea is our Ifood, and land are our Motel" 🏩
On Earth, everyone has his own ecological niche. On Kaimere, everyone share some ecological niches
That's not true at all lol. Tons of Earth animals share niches
There’s like 20 different species of parrot that all do the same thing lol
I KNOW LOL
Seafarers in kaimere probably has a rich folklore with all this "sea monsters" around
They sure do!
@@TalesofKaimere that would make for a great book
About old sea men's tales of their adventures alongside the fact kaimeren's live longer
I love this Bilaruk! With the body of a basilosaurid, and tusks of a walrus, but also the ecology of an elephant. I love the attention Multituberculates get in Kaimere, and these grazing whales are among my favorites!
Have you ever thought of a semi aquatic monotreme or multituberculate converging on a penguin or hesperornis body form? That's a staple of my water world.
12:37 God damn that art is fantastic!! Once again reminding me why the Kurajaku is one of my top favorites! Bilaruk is an amazing beast as well! Powerful, unique beast with mighty tusks!! That's always a winning combo with me!
Love convergent evolution
It's a fascinating topic!
Jeremy Wade would find Kaimere a paradise, wouldn't he?
100%
as much as I liked the old weirdo design, this new one just looks so good!
Thanks! Old one will be used in some capacity
Love how ruthless they are with each other in comparison to whales, especially with the ways the males use their spurs during mating season
new design makes more sense but i do love the old designs wacky head. hope you reuse that idea for a future critter!
That's the plan!
That hunting method is yet another impressive variation of the Megaraptoran School of Murder Arts.
Thy work oh Lord of House Keenan is most admirable, for thou hast raised many an order to the horizons of the seas and lands.
The kaimeran leviathan has earned its place next to the jugashen, as a true diversification of obscure niches!
I like both iterations, and I can totally see how the first one may have had issues with spreading across open sea! The tusked bailosaurus body plan is super cool.
Was not expecting those castanets in the intro lmao
Reason number 378 as to why you shouldn’t swim in Kaimere.
This is the first time I have heard of an animal using a venomous spur for temporary castration. It's one thing to injure your opponent in a battle over a mate, but disabling their reproduction is another. You weren't kidding when you said the Bilaruk could get violent.
Keep it up my man!
Thanks! Certainly an unconventional way of taking out the competition
Not sure if I like this one or the original more, the original was so freaking bizarre it was incredibly charming.
Old design will definitely be repurposed in some capacity!
@@TalesofKaimere perhaps a more basal living relative of the Bilaruk somewhere beyond the known world.
I love weird early whales so even though they were never harvested I’m glad there are similar mammals in the seas of Kaimere 😁
Absolutely! Fascinating animals and well worth taking inspiration
I LOVE the redesign of the Bilaruk. You managed to make a fascinateing whale analogue from a Multi. Also the inland sea of Kairul sounds interesting I hope you're consider revisiting it and the Bilaruk's clade in the future
I'd certainly be open to it!
Love the hunting art. And yeah love the redesign.
Yes, we got multi-cetaceans🐀🐋
Percuetus colossus the great problem solver!
14:57
God that's an old one
Sure is! Love it tbh
Have any other multiuberculate clades grown into giants beyond the known world?
Yes
Honestly I think the multituberculates are some of the most interesting creatures in all of Kaimere, alongside the therocephalians of the Permian Isles, dicynodonts of the Permian continent and the firebirds of Pakardia and Kaishel. And this redsigned bilaruk has easily become among my favorite animals in all of Kaimere now.
I love to hear it!
13:50 Damn this scene is cool af. Reminds me of godzilla vs tiamat in gxk. I really love this new designs as you say makes more sense for the crossing of open oceans. Also question Idk why but I don't think being a benthic feeder will be enough to feed preucetus but that's my opinion.
Thanks! Yeah I mean we'll see. As I understand it there may be more material at the original site and the hype seems to have funded another trip which is nice. Hopefully skull material will be found. Benthic feeding supports grey whales which can get pretty big. Also, sea levels were very high during the Eocene. Could have been a lot more shallow seas than we have today which could go a long way in supporting a shallow benthic lifestyle
Question: how long does it take a young predator to master approaching from down wind?
Probably several years of general hunting experience and several months observing and understanding this particular prey and their senses/reactions.
Great video as always
Is there any plans to make a video about the Permian dynasty/Jurassic dynasty?
I’d love to sponsor both, but finances…
We do have some dynasties on the horizon, but the Permian Dynasty is not currently on the roster.
Speaking of which, have any people managed to swim with Kaimeran leviathans. As well as other large animals such as behemoths, giant catapancetids, kurajaku, macroraptorial sperm whales, madtsoiids, megalodon, giant catapancetids, zanitel, qomanqa, and more?
Fact: I've seen a few people actually go swimming with hippo, though it was accidental (czcams.com/video/ll_Ktx-g01o/video.html).
I'm sure it's happened
It's just amazing. Love the redesign, and it's amazing how the Kurajaku can bring them down, even if it is a hard kill.
The new Bilaruuk is an example of a wonderful convergent evolution. Hope we do know more about these amazing mammals.... Especially the marine ones...
Also, I am just glad they exist in Kaimere.
Finally, cow but whale.
*Box Office movies now a trash of life!! You are Amazing author thanks Kaimere. This Fictional World are really Magnificient biosphere.*
Thank you!
@@TalesofKaimere *you are welcome!!*
this is a cool animal mate, good job.
Thanks!
Awesome video. Bilaruk are really great animals. They would be an awesome sight to see.
Definitely!
Yet Another 'Ok now THIS is my favorite critter' Video. I'm going to need to start having a favorite in each clade or something so I don't have to keep bumping creatures out of the top spot. :)
Love to hear it!
I thought this was real for a moment, what is the word for excitement and disappointment?
Hay Keenan! Been watching your channel for a while and really enjoying the world that you made. Just yesterday I ordered your second anthology because sea adventures are fun. Can't wait to read it.
Hope you enjoy it! So glad to hear!
@@TalesofKaimere I hope so too!
Great episode and a fascinating creature! I really love the concept of a colossal seagrass grazer and the perucetus bodyplan works quite well with with beast! great job on this one 👍
Thanks so much!
So there won't be any basilosaurus relatives in Kaimere ? I mean I get why, but still
Indeed that clade never had a chance
cut to an offended looking Neocete
nice video whats next
Anteater
@@TalesofKaimere cant wait to see that
As the Known World as its own Behemoth and Leviathan, what would be considered its Ziz?
Any of the giant pterosaurs
I thoroughly enjoyed this video (Although idk if the Bilaruk itself would. After all, a good chunk of the vid is you hyping up its predator while showing it getting wrecked)
1. Nice to see the desmostylians again. I hope the Bilgarobi gets its day in the limelight eventually.
2. Are there species resembling the Bilaruk itself in Kairul or are any giants there only cousins in the same clade?
3. Are any basal Ambulocetus type multis still around or are those extinct like for our modern cetaceans?
4. Since we have a lot of single species stuff coming up, the only thing i want to know is are we going to Kaishel at any point? I'll take any sort of episode frankly.
While the old design was neat I must admit the newer one is a lot more realistic.
Makes me wonder if you ever plan on revisiting the clade it seems like it would have alot of smaller transitional relatives
I definitely plan on making more of the clade, just didn't have time for this one given its focus and run time on the particular species
You're like the american equivalent of David Attenborough but for Sci-fi/Fantasy Worldbuilding. Also nice soundtrack choices & interesting animal design + ecology 👍
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Just gonna ask this. Are there any fireflies at all?
Most likely!
Awesome
love the multituberculate whale but I have to ask what happen to original bilaruk? still love the video though Keenan keep up the good work
End of the video I discuss my plans for the old design
@@TalesofKaimere lovely🐻
Do a vid on kaimeran food 😋
Are Bilaruk frequently aggressive towards ships and boats? Do people in the inland sea hunt them much?
They're relatively aggressive especially in the mating season, but not so much that they like attack every possible ship or anything
There are some similarities to how elephants interact with ecosystems on land. Both have intense sexual selection with social females and solitary males as well as feeding strategies that tend to uproot a lot of vegetation, ecosystems will often homogenize if there is nothing to break up dominant plant life so having an animal that breaks up and destroys beds of the dominant plant life is beneficial. Large animals with destructive tendencies are vital in many ecosystems for this reason, pigs, elephants, and bears are all great examples.
Where I live the main animal that fills this niche is Cervus canadensis, the large herds are vital for clearing the brush in our closed temperate rainforest and ensuring that as least some areas remain more open. Unfortunately moose are regionally extinct and no longer fill that role.
Really a very amazing episode !
Giving a good bunch of stuff to present lore and teases for future wonders far to the mysterious Kairulan's realm !
With the Bilaruk, we now have sort of "Basilosaurid" in a way on Kaimere (to fitt their role), and we now have this legendary biblical creature that the Leviathan is !
In such a never seen before iteration and weird shape, as well than giving likely what is the spec evo Multituberculate which is most imaginative ever made so far !
Aside, I really hype to see one day what will be the Bilaruk's relative inhabiting the Inland Sea of kairul and how the initial form of it will be named in the future :)
Водный мир хоть и странный но мне нравится
poggers rip to a king but welcome to a emperor
How do they reproduce, do they still birth undeveloped young like it is theorized in real, life
No their gestation is pretty long and they give birth to developed if quite helpless young which can swim but need a lot of care and attention
Oh yeah I completely forgot that Bilaruk was the name of the quadruped grazer
Also I'm very much glad that you'll reuse the initial idea because it was very cool
Was too fun to pass up. Had already planned on them being from Kairul with terrestrial ancestors of a similar bodyplan, so all that's still the same, just didn't fit for something that had to cross oceans.
@@TalesofKaimere Yeah sinkers, makes sense
i you look closely at this picture 16:13 / 1853 on the left bottom there is a silhouette of pearl from spongebob squarepants

@@TalesofKaimere THERE A STARMANNNNNNNN WAITINGGGGGGGGGG INNNNN THE SKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Was wondering when the Bilaruk would be mentioned again. Awesome redesign. Although how do they smell underwater?
Thank you! Much like whales, their keen sense of smell only works on the surface (which is how baleen whales hone in on shoals of krill!)
@@TalesofKaimere ahhh thanks.
Worlds beyond kaimere when? 👀
Are there gorganopsids on kaimere?
Nope! They went extinct.
@@TalesofKaimere NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
@@TalesofKaimere what about dimetrodon or anteosaurs pleas there my babys
Can you do notoungulates next please
I'd happily take a sponsor for them but unfortunately I'm booked for unsponsored episodes!
can bilaruk handle predatory cetaceans like cachalot, sohiajoon and orcas?
Yes. Males are safe by size while cows can coordinate defense in a group.
