    The rule of thumb is; whenever threading metal into metal, use thread lock. Love your accent and enjoy your videos immensely.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 6 lety

      Thank you David! 🙏 Yes, I agree, thread lock is always good for metal in metal. 👍 Here I feel a slightly resistance at the end when I tighten the screws. Maybe because brass is a bit softer, so I thought it's maybe not necessary. 🤔

    • @loquitos1972
      @loquitos1972 Před 6 lety +2

      did you see that the TRX4 sport has only a 2ch radio? The diffs are locked in contradiction to the Bronco, The Defender and the Assault version of the TRX-4 hence doesn't need extra 2 servo's. my 2ct.

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC Před 6 lety +3

      Yep how the TRX4 should have been in the first place all that extra weight and stuff in the original makes for a less agile truck and the TRX4 should work much better now.

    • @kennetcastillo7740
      @kennetcastillo7740 Před 6 lety +1

      the sport is just a bare bones trx4. non-remote locking diffs... they're permanently locked. no 2-speed transmission...just 1 crawling gear. a simpler and lighter body, but otherwise the same. same chassis, same esc & motor, same axles

    • @loquitos1972
      @loquitos1972 Před 6 lety +1

      I know. The new body is cool and was thinking of ordering one (when it arrives in the Netherlands) but also got a MST CMX (locked diffs) and other build projects too. I like the 2 speed part of the regular TRX-4 so just let this one pass.

    The extra weight must make a big difference to the handling.
    On a slightly different tack, do you know of any different wheels and tyres that look more like the real thing for the Citroen 2CV, I'm not fussed on the kit wheels and tyres, to small and wide. Any help would be appreciated. Great video as usual Matteo. 😀👍👍👍

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 5 lety +2

      The drive shafts fits directly without cut in the TRX-4 Defender. But the TRX-4 Bronco have a shorter wheelbase, so only for use in the Bronco this shorten is necessary.

    I noticed that the bearings in the portal hubs had a seal on only one side? Tried watching again but not 100% sure, if I'm not mistaken I think you might have put the bearings in the wrong way, side without the seal should be inside with the gears and grease, seals facing out to prevent dirt intrusion. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Love all your videos.

    Jetzt würde mich intresieren wie fährt sich das im direkten Vergleich zu einem Serien Bronco? Die ca 1200 Gramm wollen natürlich auch überall rauf geschleppt werden,oder ziehen sich auch mal unter Felsvorsprünge.Ohne direkten Vergleich bin ich immer "erst" etwas skeptisch.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 6 lety

      Im Video sieht man ja auch eine Fahrt, die ich oft auch mit dem Serien Fahrzeug gemacht habe. Das zusätzliche Gewicht auf der Vorderachse ist positiv spürbar beim Bergauffahren. Klar nützt es beim Bergabfahren nichts, aber die Vorteile überwiegen die wenigen Nachteile. Aber du hast schon recht, jeder bewertet gut/schlecht oder positiv/negativ anders. Kommt sehr auch auf den persönlichen Fahrstil und die Vorlieben drauf an.

    • @ka4172
      @ka4172 Před 6 lety

      Das stimmt wohl.Ich habe mal versucht (nach dem schwerer machen der Achsportale) ohne angebauten Lenkservo die Lenkung mit der Hand zu betätigen .Huuh da merkt man erst mal was das Servo leisten muß.Ohne ein Minimum 30Kg Servo würde ich den TRX4 so "schwer" nicht mehr im Gelände betreiben wollen.

    Get some stainless or brass screws. The steel may oxidize and screw up brass. Also brass needs recoated often.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před rokem

      Danke dir! Ich benutze Fett vom Baumarkt, in der KFZ Abteilung gibt's MoS2 Schmierfette. Und als Spray nicht das normale WD40, besser ein Trockenschmierstoff auf PTFE Basis, da klebt dann kein Dreck dran.

    what about brass on the back axles

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 4 lety

      Of course this can be installed also. But I prefered only the front axle, because is good to have more weight on the front to climb steep trails. And all the parts are not cheap...

  • @Ian-Hall

    I've watched loads of vids like this and the only upside is climbing, everything else is a downside. Snake oil you don't need, Money that does not need to be spent.
