If anybody's wondering, I can confirm that it fits the T300RS GT (wheel and pedals) and the TH8A out of the box. No problems, no mods required
Excellent!
Massive thanks for this comment, just helped solidify my purchase
@@Matt162same here, that's the combo I'll be going for, too. Have fun 🏁
And do you know if it fits with a TGT-2 and TLCM pedals? Thanks
I bought Playseat Challenge X two days ago. I own a Thrustmaster T248 with T3PM pedals and both can be screwed in Playseat. Holes match perfectly for wheel and pedals.
Ah they must share the same bolt pattern, thats great to know thanks!
I just ordered the Seat. I got the T300RS GT and reddit said it should be compatible. At least i hope so.
Are the screws included with the seat? Because the wheel had none?
@@Maverick0190 the seat includes screw
@@Maverick0190did you get your steering wheel and pedals mounted? Are they compatible to the seat ?
Para tgt 2 tambien servira?
Got one of these for a new (first) setup. You can mount the CSL DD pedals if you mount the back of the pedal directly and don’t use the actual mounts holes on the Fanatec pedal tray. I have no frame of reference but it works, pedals are rock solid and it still folds up.
Excellent to know mate!
I have space these days for a permanent rig but it's great to see foldable solutions still being developed.
The way that pink ghost on yout wall was looking at you while taking a walk with the rig is just hilarious 😂. Great review, honest as usual, i subbed to your channel for a while now. Nice improvements to the rig.
Had the older playseat challenge for a good few years now and its been excellent. For people who don't have the space it's a really great solution. This looks like a great upgrade, cheers Karl!
Definitely!
@@KarlGoslingHi Karl, lol first off I think I’m in love with your house mate. thanks for another awesome true to life review, your channel and how to review stuff is very refreshing, hmm this new folding playseat is very interesting and could of / might still be perfect for me and my tiny house, at the moment I just use a comfy computer chair a very sturdy wheel stand and the G29 wheel and pedals, but this is my dilemma now, I have treated myself to the Thrustmaster TGT2 steering wheel and pedals for Christmas and was going to get the load cell pedals too, but as you said the pedal mount don’t fit others I don’t know if I should try this stand now, it’s hard to tell from the video but do you think a simple mod of attaching so MDF to the pedal mounts would work them I could drill holes in the wood to attach my pedals too, what you think mate?
What is better: this one or Next Level Racing gt lite pro?
Good that you can hard mount the pedals now. But the plastic tightening screws on the side that control the pedal distance still look like a point of failure. I had to drill into my original playseat challenge metal frame to stop heavy duty pedals from sliding.
Hmm you can't go to heavy with pedals anyway or the seat will tilt back, but there are indents for the thumb screws to fit into so they won't move easily if at all.
Had the original, thought about upgrading to this but got the Trophy instead since i can store it upright. The challenge is still an incredible little foldable rig though. The best one out there in my opinion and this looks to be a worthy upgrade. The pedal mount and seat locking mechanisms are a heck of an improvement over the old model.
Yeah they are a big improvement for sure! PST is a nice solid but welterweight cockpit too.
@@KarlGosling welterweight definitely but much more fitting for a DD wheel when u have limited space
Love the content Karl! You are one of my favorite reviewers.
Very kind of you mate thank you!
Love the nod to Tron with your T-Shirt.
Oh yes!
Looks good. I loved my PlaySeat Challenge for a year until I was ready to invest more. My biggest complaint was the bolts would dig into my thighs. I cannot tell, but it looks like they fixed that.
Yeah I'm sure this is either wider or just arranged in such a way this does't happen, my legs feel much more free.
I'm forever repairing and modding ny original (broke again an hour ago). The pedal structure just wasnt built to take high forces, but it is great for entry level stuff. I just wish there was something foldable for more serious racers who dont have space.
Fanatec CSL pedals will fit with some simple mods using the shifter plate and drilling a couple of extra holes in the Fanatec pedal mount plate… The other option is to get the Fanatec pedal plate from Lowdown Shifter, everything fits perfectly with no mods!
Thats great to know!
@@KarlGosling No worries Karl, I was hoping that you’d do a review of this seat, also worth noting that the Lowdown Shifter chassis brace and steering plate stabiliser also work well… One other thing of note is it looks like the Challenge X has different feet (they’re no longer rounded and have rubber ends) which imo makes it a bit more stable when the Fanatec CSL DD is attached
Great point !!! Our pedal base plates all fit the Logitech X - No matter the pedal set. We have an abundance supply of different bases and options. Thank you for your compliment buddy, much appreciated.
Great review, thank you!
No worries!
Great vid Karl, as always. Wondered if you’d be able to do a vid showing if the CSL pedals that come with the DD Pro fit ok to the new pedal mount. I saw an earlier comment saying the back of the pedals can be mounted direct, but is that only without the CSL foot plate they come with? If so it might be a bit awkward and uncomfortable in use for heel placement.
I currently have the original Playseat Challenge and although does a job I don’t like the metal loops for the side straps as they dig into my legs, hence keen to upgrade to this version, which won’t have that problem, but need to know the CSL pedals can fit ok to the new support.
Ah sorry mate I've moved this on already, I had to buy it in and no real need to keep it as I won't actually use it.
@KarlGosling no worries. Cheers anyway.
Nice to see you still have hte Alien Sim Product rim on your Logitech. They're really nice!
Yeah it's decent!
Would love to see a comparison with some of the Next Level Racing seats. I bought a GT Lite last year, not sure if I love it and I’m considering getting something else.
They are just as sold/flexi but a little bigger and with more adjustment... I do have a comparison between the original PSC and their F-GT Lite on the channel.
Cheers Karl. Be interested to know if lowdown shifter addons work with this or are redundant , I have the steering wheel and pedals strengthening kits.
But to be honest I like the playseat challenge it could be a bit wider not sure if it’s worth the upgrade for me.
Good day there John - Yes they do! Transferable from the original PSC - We've just helped quite a few now on tghe Logitech X - We are now manufacturing colour coded systems specifically for the Logitech X. We have just had our pedal base plates tested on the Logitech X and they are a winner. Increasing the pedal performance and removing that flex.
Thanks for the review Karl! I just want to say that I much prefer this style of review where we get to follow along the entire process contrary to having the product all assembled at the start. When I built my Prime I had your video in the background as a sort of guide but also comfort. Knowing I wasn't alone in the process made things easier :) Thought I'd share my thoughts. Thanks again!
Thanks mate, yeah this is my default style of review, showing something already built misses out a lot for the viewer IMO.
Hello, does anyone know the measurements of the folded Logitech including the steering wheel and pedals?
Hei Karl. Can you tell me the dimensions of the rig when folded? I'm interested in knowing the height when lying on the floor to see if it fits beneath my bed. Thanks
How would you say the back support is? I had an NLR FGT-Lite that gave me pretty bad back pain (was in an accident 10 years ago and my back's never been the same since). There's no support in the FGT-Lite, it's a folding lawn chair seat, and it wrecked my back after a month, had to stop driving IRL and spend a lot of time in bed with ice/heating packs for a couple weeks. The Challenge X looks like it has a more structured support, kinda hammocky rather than a stretched piece of fabric. Does it feel like a more natural position, did you feel like you settled in comfortably or did you have to constantly kinda hold yourself up with your core muscles to support yourself while driving?
I've used the previous model for 6 years and have found it okay for my back without any need to use core muscles. It's well shaped which elevates it above a deckchair. I'm 1.9m tall with minor on and off back ache but have never had it in the chair. However, it may be different for a previously injured back.
Nice review! I just bought one bcause of you’re video! Question, is there a mount for the logitech shifter to be next to you like a normal car instead of next to your driving wheel? Thanks!
Not that I know of mate sorry.
Ordered the GT Omega art cockpit and i used your discount code. I would love to have an immersive booth but paying tens of thousands of euros is too much even if i can afford it. Thanks for the awesome videos Karl.
Totally agree mate, if it wasn't for LG provideing the displays and Race @ Home loaning me the motion system I would not have it either!
A GT Omega ART is what I actualy ran for a few years, great entry level cockpit!
Hey Karl, I watch all you’re reviews and it’s now the time for me to upgrade, I know it’s not exactly related to the video but I’ve ordered a csl dd 8nm with Csl elite v2 pedals. I currently have a play seat challenge but I feel it will probably flex too much, my budget isn’t particularly high as I’m 16 but I would like you’re opinion on what cockpit would be a good purchase for this power of wheel base. Bear in mind it needs to be able to be dragged on carpet when not in use.
Hope you see this, thanks.
hmm... GT Omega ART with castors might be the way to go IMO mate.
Thank you
Will there be a small amount of flex with this cockpit?
Is it compatible with Fanatec GT DD Pro 8Nm? Need advice for my first sim racing setup and need a foldable. Thank you!
I think I’m sold on this. Thanks Karl!
It's decent mate!
I wonder if there are any mods to fit this for flight simming in VR. Looks like a great product
Most likely mate!
hi @Karl Gosling
there is a chance to instal T300 RS GT on this seat?
What im curious is what would you pick: The challenge x or the gt lite pro? Just considering when actually using it. Its obvious the challenge x wins for portability and how quickly it can do it.
Honeslty I don't think either would see me wrong if it's what I needed.
I wonder if it can be strengthened like the vanilla challenge, with the same parts. I never got round to ordering any, I just want less plate flex nothing else.
Probably yes.
Looking forward to your side by side video of the Playseat Challenge X and the original Playseat Challenge
6pm GMT Tonight mate!
@@KarlGosling Sweet!!
Hi,great video,i have a question? Is it compatible with the thrustmaster tgt 2?
I'm also interested in this. Have you managed to resolve your doubt?
Playseat challenge is the best value stationary rig. Easy to mod, move and sell. Wouldn’t bother getting anything more expensive. If you decide to move up, get a motion rig instead.
Very nice review as always. I'm looking for a cockpit to use with adults and kids(1,20cm tall) do you think it will work?
Hmm possibly, be good buy from Amazon so if it doesn't work out you can return in!
Thank you so much for your answer @@KarlGosling. I will give it a try... but actually I bought also the fanatec bundle and the gt omega dd-x via your links ;)
The bracing kit from Indigolime for the Challenge is a must have especially for the wheel deck.
Bought mine after watching this vid. Thanks.
Enjoy it
Does the pedal mounts fits with moza r5 3 pedals ?
Excellent review...thank you
My pleasure!
I still have the original playseat, tbh it's been great. Granted its a glorified deck chair (wifes view 😂). Moved house now, so I've thankfully gained a man cave, so looking at an upgrade soon. Love the t shirt, end of line....
...
Hey can i use the Thrustmaster shifter?
Why can't anyone make a foldable cockpit capable of withstanding 10+Nm? Even if it's heavy and fairly bulky, if it folded fairly flat it could be put in a wardrobe, something those big ugly alum profile rigs will never do.
Was searching for something like that for a while but nothing exists so I made my own. Got a GT Omega apex wheel stand that’s sturdy and foldable and bolted a foldable deck chair to it on the standard tray where the chair goes with quick releases. Works well for me in my small office.
Or the only other thing kinda like that is the coffee racer go but haven’t seen a review on that yet
Well.. i don't think one could simly just lift a frame that is made to withstand that kind of momentumz 😅
I just bought this for a 8nm… praying
how did it work out for you ?
With the old playseat, if I hit the brake hard, the middle part will come up and make my brake inconsistent. Did the new playseat solve that issue a bit?
Depending on your seat angle this could still happen.
Guess the old version i got will get me even less now to sell on used market but hey at least got myself that fanatec formula v2.5 X for $200.
I noticed the screw hole under the right side of the chair, maybe for a future shifter mount?
I hope so. It’s odd being up near the wheel.
@@byronmartin9984 yeah I was just looking at this review because my bro is interested in one and it needed to be foldable. From what I can tell, there’s a bit of compromise on the rigidity for the wheel so I told him get the Trophy if you want no wobble or Challenge if you REALLY need to fold it
your room is so lit what light bulbs do you use?😂
Thanks
I will use this with the logitech g pro. Lets go!
Nice!
Do TLCM pedals fit?
Hard to return the Coolermaster rig with the cat looking comfortable.
She loved it... but a very expensive cat bed! lol
Hi just used your GT Omega Code to buy a Prime Lite thx for that . Have nice Day
Oh nice! Enjoy mate!
Anyone with a Playseat Challenge X and Fanatec V3 pedals?
HELP! Anyone had an issue of this chair dropping when the blue clamps are locked in place? So I set the chair at the pin position 3 and as playing it dropped to 4, then 5 mostly on 1 side but then the chair dropped to the lowest position. I thought it was just due to my size/weight even tho no where near the max user. My wife tried the chair and it dropped on her also! She’s a lot smaller than me. The cogs are both locked into place it’s just like the teeth slip while it’s sat on and I have no idea why and can’t find any info/help.
Thanks in advance
Ok I think I have figured it, just for anyone else who may come across this issue…. The blue clamps have a bolt through to the other side and that was pretty loose. Needed nipping up a little more and the clamp feels a lot tighter now when locking into place
What kind of wheel do you have? Is that just a the Logitech g920 with a different wheel?
It is mate yes, MVH studios wheel.
Does anyone know what the compatibility is like with the Moza R5 set?
Have you find out yet ? especially with moza 3 pedals ?
Sirve para tgt2?
Can you put shifter on right side?
Yes.
👍
Really its the new challenge X 80 € better than the older? 220€ the original 300€ challenge X today in Amazon Spain
£100 more on UK amazon right now too. I'd rather get the original then spend the difference on fixes for the wobble and a better shifter mount.
For comfort I'd say 100% worth it, if you're a smaller guy probably not.
Buyers opinion - It is not as strong as the original due to the amount of moving parts/parts. In engineering terms - Too many things to go wrong. KISS - Keep it simple stupid - Great mantra. Struggle with this in China..
Is it wider than the old model?
I'll do a comparison video with a tape measure! lol
Are you playing EA Sports WRC yet Karl?
No I'm not mate, just been busy TBH.
Argos are selling the original Playseat Challenge highlighting it as being a 'new' product and calling it "Playseat Challenge Actifit" 🤬
Oh thats not right at all!
This is Playseat Challenge model 5 in 9 years. Must be new 😁
Karl, we could do something here? If you fancy a colab.
I'll buy the seat off you when done with, if it's being sold.
It's gone already Mark sorry.
@@KarlGoslingI've got one on order so no worries chap. Just a thought.
Just buy a beach chair, you will get similar experience for a fraction of the price. But jokes aside, I wouldn't pay more than $100 for this, there are better options in this price range.
Why you care about wobble? Do you think that a real car "not wobbles"? No comment... Yeah, sturdy, so it wont fell apart under you, but come on....
If your cockpit wobbles it loses FFB detail... imagine your steering column wobbling around as you drive in a real car!
@@KarlGosling Make sense! Thanks for the explanation.
