- Potstickers, won ton, dim sum, mandu - there are so many names for dumplings in so many different cultures. These "ugly dumplings" are stuffed with vegetables and minced fish and fresh herbs before being browned and then steamed. The result is a crispy, chewy bundle of goodness dipped in a salty tangy sauce! Perfect finger food and so fun to make, it's no wonder why dumplings are celebrated all around the world.
Ingredients:
dumpling wrappers- known as "pi" and found in asian/ethnic section of stores (or make your own with rolling out a dough of flour and water)
fresh or frozen fish, minced
minced onions
minced carrots
minced celery
minced water chestnuts
minced garlic
minced ginger
minced green onion
minced cilantro
salt and pepper
olive oil, peanut oil, etc
water
soy sauce
vinegar

What a lifestyle. "I'm straight from the beach" Envious.
Seriously... these videos are the best. I have the biggest smile watching you cook. "Justin.... are you on the pot sticker?" The way you cook is a good reminder to everyone that there are guidelines, but no rules for cooking. Just make it your own. And I really love this recipe -- hadn't thought about using frozen fish in pot stickers. So easy and looks yummy.
haha! of course Justin had to put that shot in!! haha glad you enjoy!!
I love your cooking videos as well as your Instagram. I love how authentic your personality is. Also the food looks really great and healthy. We need this in our lives these days. And rock fish is my favorite fish ever!! 😍
Oh you just made me so happy!!
Love it. Your voice is so calming
Glad you like it! It's funny to me hearing how I talk!
...sounds tired/exhausted 😓
@@themontephone875 Kimi’s just chiLL, if yoU could Freë dive🤿 to her leveL🏆, you’ll then understand how chïLL that Skill requires, Capesh✅🌊
I really enjoy how you use important foundations of cooking in a laid back style because that's how I tend to cook! I also went to culinary school and am now cooking for my family at home.
I appreciate all this amazing content because even without fresh fish (we're in a land locked state) it's giving me more ideas of how to prepare fish to keep meals interesting. Thanks and God bless you!
I’m also a culinary grad-ex cook. As I’ve aged this kind of cooking is what appeals to me. I’d rather hang in her backyard than at Michelin starred restaurants.
@@BadgerBJJ Absolutely, 100%!
Kimmie watching your old videos makes me hope that you have a new season I miss your cooking your ocean your buddy and overall family content and you represent our culture so beautifully can't wait to see you all again ✌️

re-watching this. I love your videos. I'll bet fennel or lemongrass would be good in the mirepoix for something different.
Kimi, I just love your videos. Your husband does an excellent job of filming! I live in Michigan and will probably never get to try any of your amazing local foods but I wish I could! Give Buddy a big hug for me, he is so cute. Keep sending out those videos.
🌺another of my favorites! I like making tuna or shrimp. onions, watercress nuts, green onions and Chinese parsley. Sauce is, shoyu and vinegar. It's the bomb!😋🐟🤙

I never thought of making dumplings with rockfish! Such a wicked idea. Thank you Kimmi. 🙏💕 just discovered your videos and IG account and I'm hooked!! Keep up the amazing videos with Justin, lil Buddy and the rest of your crew!
I have to say that I suck at cooking. I don't enjoy cooking. My mom spoiled me with fresh, amazing food growing up and then she died young. I love to eat, but I hate to cook. Watching your videos makes me feel brave about stretching in the galley (we live on a sailboat) and trying to make some of the things you're teaching. I watch you an listen and I think, hey I can do that. Mahalo nui for the inspiration!
Thanks Kimi. I made Mandu before but never with fish and I can't wait to try it. You make it look so simple and easy.
Just another beautiful day in Hawaii. Thanks for posting Kimi...
Thank you!!
Your recipes are great. My gout says so. Keep rocking !
Love watching your videos...💞 watched them all.
You are so awesome Kimi
Water chestnuts go really good in spinach dip! I imagine bean sprouts would be a good addition to the potstickers, yeah?

Hey girl. Love the videos as always. Have you ever thought of doing spear fishing videos. Where ya just slap a go pro on yourself and we can watch you spear fish. I know I would absolutely love to watch. Don’t even have to edit it. Just upload the full clip. It would be so cool. But I understand you’re a busy mom ❤️
My husband really wants me to dive with a gopro. And now that we have to trade off to dive and he can't film me, I think I need to give it a try!
Kimi Werner ahhh yay. It would literally be so cool. There are not any videos like that out on the internet so that would be very cool

Going to make this next week in Houston, TX with some frozen fish from the grocery store. Any recommendations on what kind of fish we get? We try to buy based off of the Seafood Watch app's sustainable recommendations.
I poke em w my chopstick before submerging my potstickers
Yummy 😋 thanks for sharing :)
Yay!
wow, that looks yummy and fresh. What do you call that pot looking with coal where you are cooking from? Would love to have one at our terrace too.
No coal, just a gas burner!
❤️
if you did this with shrimp would you still wait to cook it when it cooks with the dumpling?
yes I would. Shrimp cooks super fast!
❤️❤️❤️

Hi kimi. Love your videos. Congrats. Btw, Where’d you get that table top. I got one of those cutting boards from your friend at the Hawaii expo at Blaisdell. Is this from same person. Thanks!
my husband and my brother in law both made it for me from a monkey pod tree that came down!
Kimi Werner Thanks for the reply. It’s beautiful. Well done. Keep the videos coming! Soon you’ll be at 1m subscribers!

Awww thanks so much!
I'm Brazilian and I think your lifestyle is really cool, too bad I don't speak english to be able to follour your recipes properly, kiss
Aww I'm sorry but hopefully the videos give you an idea!
@@kimiwerner I'm already happy that you answered me, I bought a kayak after watching your videos at sea, but I have the courage to stay just near the beaches 😅, I want to make the pancake but I was in doubt about the flour you used because it is a mix right , can I use only one type of flour? And in the end do you add honey and lemon? Your baby is your face😍
So the fish cooks once it’s in the potstickers.. right?
exactly! Fish cooks so fast!
Husband....aaahhh no
Lol
Fish in dumpling? Nope.
Not common...
(Delete-nothing negative.)
