You're hired for screenwriting, Austin!
Was a pleasure animating episode 1! Hope folks enjoy this peek behind the scenes!
You’re so talented 😍
Autocorrect got you and changed your "peek" to "peak".
Sometimes, I hate autocorrect.
I all ways love a peek behind the curtain. 👍👍
Love the animation
Bro,I really enjoyed the pilot.I hope to see another collab between you guys again.
I truly think there's a market for animated shows to have old school looking drawings while utilizing new animation techniques under the hood. it's so smooth, and looks so great
i really love this project
Thanks so much! If you could share it with others, it might make the future of the show a possibility. Hope you're having a great start to your week.
This man's stache is beyond impressive.
Thanks!
In Austin's own words, "It's not incredible...it's sensational!"
It’s like a feather duster - it helps him eat the dust.

These days, it honestly takes more work to make something look less polished. Some people were complaining that the Cat-man episode wasn't slick enough, but I loved every second of it, precisely because that vintage, low-budget, slapped-together feel was on purpose, not accidental.
Why do I feel as this project getting deeper, Austin's stache is getting more.. _intriguing_ .
Who knew that real content like yours and SpikeyTortoise's videos would be hidden between thousands of reaction videos and others. It almost feels criminal that youtube's algorithm just promotes those and not content that requires creativity and real effort.
The best way to combat the issue is to share them around! We really appreciate your help in that respect. Thanks! Hope you're having a great start to your week.
Glad you enjoyed what we put together!
Sadly the multi-billion dollar company doesn't see quality as the metric only profitability
the increasingly supervillain-esque mustache is a beautiful development
Bro's trying to make his own version of the MCU.
I love it.
bargain bin cinematic universe

But without the creative bankruptcy.
@@codycarney2311 true
It’s so great to see all this content being created from talented artists without a whole heap of money from studios, but with a whole heap of creative freedom. Brilliant work fellas
Thanks, man! I really appreciate the kind words.
When the artist pulled out the catman suit he made my jaw literally dropped. I want to applaud the absolute badass he is for doing that so he could have good references for how the suit should look in various poses. I don't know if you looked at a lot of other people before choosing him but either way you CHOSE WELL! The love he shows for this project is incredible.
Every so often you see why the Internet can still be cool, as with making collaborations like this possible.
Austin's mustache tho👌
Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes, it's so cool to see this Hanna Barbara style art come to life in a modern era
I appreciate you taking the time to watch, and support the show! Take care.
The intentional mistakes are what got me. It reminds me of the "spirit bead" that I have on some of my jewelry I bought from art fairs. They're extra/missing beads on a piece intentionally put in to remind people that life isn't perfect and that doesn't make it any less beautiful.
:) :) :)
I've already watched the episode twice. I think it's really good!!
Thanks for the support! We're glad you enjoyed it. :)
It was really good hope there's more on the way. This whole project as been really cool to see.@@austinmcconnell
This is an incredible piece of media. One of the coolest most nostalgic things I've seen in years. Why didn't CZcams show me this?
SPOLIERS FOR SPIDER QUEEN AND CAT MAN
So I read Spider Queen, and it seems to take place in the modern day. But Cat Man seems to take place in the midcentury period. It made me question how the two were planned to connect.
Considering all his videos, Austin is like a modern day Renaissance man.
Aw, thanks! I appreciate you following along as I try different things. It's been fun to experiment, and I'm learning a lot. I hope it's inspired your creative mind, as well. Take care.
@@austinmcconnell Thanks for the reply. And yes, your videos have inspired my own videos. Have a nice day!
I watched the episode two times, me and my friends think it's really good. The animation was well and we hope you will continue the cinematic universe. We are looking forward for the next episode!
Thanks so much! We really appreciate you checking it out, and sharing it with others. Hope you're doing well!
This whole project, all the way from your discovery of these public domain characters, is just so awesome! It's making me want to chase my own dreams! Keep moving forward, dude!
Austin, Love the sentiment but it's not just animators. People like us will make long form mini docs that fly completely under the radar. Not saying that animation deserves less; We all deserve our place in the algorithm. I'm glad you're bringing views to someone who deserves it. Keep on keeping on.
I like how the whole thing can work just as a radio show drama, dont need any animations, just like a lot of old shows like spiderman
Catman vs empty box or paperbag!!
T H E U L T I M A T E B A T T L E
I loved this. Thanks for the "making of" look. I could see the labor-of-love factor when I watched it but I really appreciated it after watching this. Great job to everyone!
Thanks so much for watching, and your kind words! Hope you're having a great week so far.
Ian immediately reminded me of Michael Ian Black
Strange
Ah weird 😂 I do kinda see it
Thanks for the insight into the process.
Thanks for watching! I hope it was informative. :)
That mustache is craaazy bro (read this as if I am stoned.)
If you guys ever decide to make another Catman cartoon, would you consider a team-up with another superhero I’ve created or do you only use public domain characters... great cartoon by the way especially the fight at the end which reminded me of Spider-Man battling Mysterio 👍
I know this isn't another episode of Cat Man but either way I'm happy to see it! There was a lot of passion in this project and it shows.
the aes·thet·ic turned out amazing. blessings!
Thanks for watching! I hope you're having a great week so far.
The Cat-Man cartoon was ao awesome!!
Thanks so much for watching and supporting!
Wow that’s awsome. I’ll definitely start watching his work. Also kind of makes me think of odd parents when cayman was an old movie star.
Amazing work Austin, Ian, and team. Nailed the task.
The voices were excellent, perfect even. It's shocking that they seemed to be the easiest part of the production from the sound of it. If I had any criticism it's how some of the character models were a bit too off model sometimes. I know it is a part of the esthetic, though I've never watched a Hanna Barbera or Filmation show where I had the thought "I-is _that_ the character?" But otherwise it captured the intention behind a lot of those old shows. it's great to see animation having a surge on youtube, from Helluva Boss to Murder Drones to this, all good things.
Glad Strongbad let Chair Scoot out of the house to pursue its acting dream.
This was actually amazing, didn’t expect much but glad I was wrong
please release the full 30 minute version sometime maybe as a bonus for the next big movie
I love that Ian was a fan of yours! How cool is that? He did a fantastic job. Hahahaha, the suit! Was not expecting that.
I always wanted to get into some sort of creative career like this. It never worked out, so I love hearing about how it's done. Cheers to Austin and the entire team!
I hope you don't get discouraged if it isn't having instant massive succes. I'm not saying I know when to call something a succes. (it's always subjective) But, I just believe that many great stories needed time to develop a fanbase. Sure some stories take off overnight, but most don't. In an era of DC, Marvel and Star Wars we get the impression that anything not having the same succes as these projects instantly is a failure, but that seems impossible to me? Can you imagine, like, that your first episode of cat-man could be the start of an actual popular comic/animation company? Never say never. But I know you know this and there is no need for me to say this, but always be happy with the people that do really love your "small" project (that needed a lot of work! congrats! I couldn't see me doing it.) In this capitalist society we dream for big numbers and constant growth but we all know in our hearts that ultimately if any project makes someone dream that is where connections are made, make us feel warm and might be the start of later-nostalgia! Also I'm not saying what you should do or think, I just really wanna celebrate this this project and you, so you know there's people loving this! I hope you feel comfortable to keep on going even if to the algoritme this isn't the hottest thing. It's fresh and feels comfortable and hopefully reaches some youth too (even though they shouldn't be on YT) as often we build strong connections to stories when we are young that stick with us for the rest of our lives.
Also, I have no authority to say any of this. keep up the good work!
Awesome, thanks for sharing!

:):):)
Folks if you haven’t seen it yet you’re missing out! Be sure to watch the pilot and share it around!
With that stache, I fully expect the bad guy of the inevitable superheroe team up to be a meta version of you as the creator of the universe and they liberating from the clutches of copyright into the public domain for people to expand on it.
I have been watching you with the intent of making my own universe with public domain characters.
I think you've been doing good work!
I really liked the Catman cartoon. I hope you can make more of them actually.
I loved the pilot!! So glad that you are making such cool content.
Man that looks awesome cant wait to watch it now
Amazing work! I can't wait to see what happens next!
It was really good animation! Can't wait to se more.
thanks! sharing the pilot around is a great help for the future of the show.
@@austinmcconnell I'll share it with my friends who would be interested in the show. :D Hope it succeeds.
this is great! good job austin!
This is so cool!! I love watching behind the scenes videos, especially for animation
Glad you enjoyed it! If you want to help support the show, sharing the pilot around can really go a long way. Thanks!
So good, I loved it!
It is great. I love the cheese and that Catman is not good at fighting. 😊 Keep it up.
Loved seeing this, especially Ian's process. I was with him whenever he would livestream himself working on his Dark Empire project, so this is awesome to see.
Amazing work Austin!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching.
Excellent work! Thanks for the look behind-the-scenes!
Glad you enjoyed it! We appreciate you taking the time to watch.
My kids really liked it, they wanted a second episode.
This process video is so inspiring to me.
Excellent! We're glad you enjoyed it. Hope you're having a great start to your week.
❤
I watched it 3 times in the first week, can’t wait for another episode.
Wow, thanks for the support! We'd love to make more, and we're doing our best to get a big enough demand to help that happen.
@@austinmcconnell it’s understandable if that’s not possible, it does sound like a lot of work and I can understand making priorities around what’s fun and what’s successful, but even if this is all we get, it was a blast to watch!
I love it! Thank you guys for being fantastic Content creators. You’ve inspired me
Not just "content creators", but artists ;)
love it
Way late to this one, but in case anybody's sorting by new: does Austin mention the budget for this project in particular?
Idk
A movie length version of this was 50k, so this is likely below 10k
Can't wait to see the second episode, the pilot was great
Thanks! If you have a minute, sharing the pilot around can really help us out.
I really did enjoy the rotoscoping
Glad you did!
Omg! Austin, you have to tell us if we’re getting more CatMan? Also, will you guys refine the artstyle more for future episodes? Check out the work of genndy tartakovsky as inspo, Ian can def do it based on his other work
We're exploring our options at the moment! If you want to help support a continuation of the show, the best thing to do right now is to share it around with others. Thanks!
LETS GOOO FINALLY A GOOD SUPERHERO!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! If you have a spare minute, sharing it around really helps us out! Thanks.
You got Wilkins Animations to do this? Wow, I loved his Dark Empire animations
Glad you enjoyed it!
We want more and we want more
We'd love to make more! If you want to help in that endeavor, be sure to share the pilot around. Thanks!
As probably one of the only modern people other than you who bothered to read the entire original Cat-Man series I must say you did a fantastic job.
I thought he got the idea from fairly odd parents
Already subscribed to spikey tortoise comics!
Great!
You should do another Kickstarter to support future projects in the superzeroes universe!
Will there be Catman Caps!? I really want one!. Also Greetings from Puerto Rico.
Catman 🐱 should have a tailwhip.
I gave it to my discord server. I loved so much! Its exactly what is fun about comics.
I loved so much that I watched a couple of times when it released
Man-Cat better appear in episode 2.
I have to say that this endeavor so far has been a success and not a cat-astrophe...
that cat-man animated episode was cool as heck, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who appriciates watching it.... thank you ... It's good enough that I'll be looking forward to other animated episodes you make, and to rewatch it/them if they are all as good as the original episode.
I really appreciate you taking the time to check it out! If you haven't already, sharing the pilot around really helps us out. Thanks!

I love how every video Austin’s mustache gets a bit more twisted
More importantly, how exactly did you grow that mustache? Please make a future video on this. Please.
Generally you take it one day at a time.
Majestical
this was really good!
Thanks so much!
Yay the bts, was waiting for it
Hope you find it informative/entertaining!
Because of you I now use public domain characters for characters in my godot games.
I enjoyed it the first time, but now I want to watch it again.
Woohoo! :)
AWESOME
The second I heard spider queen was on audible it was purchased.
Awesome! Be sure to leave a review and let me know what you think. :)

Cat man? Like Adam West Fairy Odd Parents cat man?
Nope. Check out this video to learn the history of the character, and how Fairly Odd Parents fits in: czcams.com/video/5EoCxKgWuHs/video.html
personally I think that this is better than MARVEL or D.C. Keep up the good work and God bless all of you😁
Thanks so much for watching!
I knew I saw these facial animations somewhere. The Wilkins Animations' Dark Empire is the answer! Thank you both for your passionate work!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
@@SpikeyTortoise I really did. I always like a good hand-drawn animation 🙂
You should make moo moo man and moo moo boy a superzeroes project
Totally enjoyed it. Now how do we raise funds to get it distributed.
@AustinMcConnell
I've been working a public domain universe for a few years and just saw you're doing the same. Given all the effort you put into Cat-Man, I was wondering if you'd be okay with me keeping him in my universe - don't want to step on your stuff if we both achieve success.
You are doing really interesting things. Please, don't get discourage. I wish you the best and to release more awesome content for us. :p
This guy needs more attention.
Loved the pilot. How's your heart?
Thanks! I'll let you know next month, maybe?
