Just before I arrived at Newport News, the shipyard statue was donated to the Martine Museum because the new owner did not like the inscription: "We build good ships at a profit if we can, at a loss if we must, but always good ships". All the ballast tanks are in the stern and bow. The front of the submarine you see is not steel and it is filled with fresh water. The forward ballast tanks are just behind that. I worked in a shipyard that built these almost 50 years ago. Both my brother and brother in law served on submarines and I got to go on my brothers when it was in port overseas where I was deployed in the military.

      To Luke A,
Yes, there are very few females assigned to the boats and their " racks" are located in the forward end if the boat.
Almost called them " quarters", sorry!

That's basically what a nuclear submarine is, just a high speed steam boat, that can go for 20 plus years without running out of steam.🤣🤣🤣

Part of my job many moons ago was security at various bases and I made no exceptions when it came to security of said base. I’ve had the press, officers and senior enlisted screaming at me and I didn’t budge not and the words I mostly used used were if you were me and the tables were turned would you give them a pass or not?, and if you said yes then you’re a damn liar and in case you’re wondering oh aye I got in the brown stuff a lot but in some cases was called a liar that was until i produced a recording of every negative interaction and every witch-hunt was thrown out. Now some people have said at the time I could’ve given them a bit of leeway but never did and to those who still condemn me, well y😢lot can eat a big bag of moody balls

@@jamesbarrett918 that’s why my oldest brother bought me a Philips recording machine and said every time your doing something that you think is dodgy or illegal and it’s under orders record everything and let me know so I can pass it up the chain of command in the military police but before you do only give them a recording and never the master

One Ohio-Class submarine can solve a large number of the worlds threats by launching all 24 of its SLBMs at China, North Korea and Afghanistan and send those countries back to the dark ages.

Russia would not be involvled. China would be obliterated before it could do anything. That is why a first-strike from an Ohio-Class sub is vital.
