I'm not an absolutist on the milk first vs. cereal first debate. But I have to say you make a good point. Almost everyone else who reacted to that question said "cereal first" and acted like nobody in their right mind could disagree. But there are a number of valid reasons for doing "milk first". For me, one very good reason is when you don't have much milk left and you have to make sure that the milk-to-cereal balance is correct. In that case, it's always better to do milk first because you can't really gauge how much milk you have until you see it in the bowl...then you can put in the correct amount of cereal. If you put too much cereal in first and then you pour all the milk that you have on top, you can often end up with too little milk. The cereal just soaks up enough to get soggy and limp on the bottom with no milk on top. What a mess! You may as well just eat dry cereal. Of course your reason also makes perfect sense...maintaining crispiness while also having enough milk.
