  • Julia and Trevor met when they went to Columbia Bible College four years ago. They had both smiled at each other in the hallways and thought the other was cute but never initiated anything with one another. One day, Julia was trying to get work done and was being "distracted" by her friends, so decided to sit down in a different booth. Trevor was sitting there, and they talked until 2 am that night. Trevor appreciated Julia's genuine desire and care to know more about him, and Julia thought Trevor had a really nice smile. Julia and Trevor's journey to love and choose one another was not perfect and not a "when you know you know" right away sort of situation. There was a lot they had (and still continue) to work through in order to be as confident as they are in each other and God's presence in each other's lives. Fears, insecurities, and mistakes were put between them, these are things that Julia and Trevor are very familiar with! One thing Trevor and Julia always did well was choosing each other anyway. Even in extremely difficult moments, they chose to stick by one another, even in moments where they weren't sure if they wanted to anymore. Loving one another has looked like truly appreciating each other’s differences, having fun and being silly with one another, trying to depend on others in their community, having long and honest conversations, choosing each other when we don't want to or when it gets hard, accepting the other's mistakes and flaws and trying to approach the other with more and more grace. Julia loves that Trevor is stable, fun and silly, organized, that he makes decisions based on what he believes is good and right, and he is SO loyal. Trevor loves that Julia is outgoing and cheerful, caring for others, fun and silly, hard-working and determined, that she encourages Trevor to be creative and reflective, she is down to try new things and be spontaneous, and that she continually encourages him to rely on Christ through all seasons. They got engaged in BC when Julia was receiving Lyme disease treatment. Trevor asked her to marry him on a lookout point on the sea-to-sky gondola. He then took her out on a float plane to a private lake, and they had a picnic. They love being in nature and eating healthy and good food with one another (brie cheese), and playing crib on Trevor's Opi's wooden crib board.
When it came to their wedding, here are a few of the things that Julia and Trevor were most looking forward to:
-Julia loves flowers and gardening, so they were hoping to have a lot of flowers! Julia wished she could've added her own garden flowers from Ontario to the bouquets. Their florals were STUNNING. Every detail was so careful and beautiful, and even the bridesmaid’s dresses came together like a bouquet of colours thanks to Julia’s keen eye.
-Sourdough Bread for everyone! They love it, and it’s sugar-free. Since Julia was diagnosed with Lyme disease a year and a half ago and had to give up sugar, Trevor decided to give up sugar with her as well. Now they eat sugar-free good, and healthy food for their bodies!
-Their custom Crib Board Guest Book. Since they love Cribbage, it just made sense to use that as a guest book.
    - Bag Piper. Trevor is Scottish, German, and Metis. It was important for Trevor’s mom to have a bag piper come and play at the wedding.
    - 1969 Camaro. Trevor’s uncle is letting us use his car for Trevor to get to the wedding and drive away in it!
    - Reception Decor - Some of their decor items took a lot of time, effort and generosity from different groups of people in their bridal parties and families. Their napkins were all cut and frayed by Sierra, and their bud vases were donated by Emma and painted over by Abby and Julia. Lots of love for them!
It was such a rad day and we were so thankful for the opportunity to fly out to British Columbia to celebrate with these two. It was such an honour to witness the intimate moments of their day from their first moments together when they prayed together without looking, to their handwritten vows, to the calm and happy reception of two families coming together. It was so special and we loved every minute of it. Congratulations, Julia and Trevor!!
