The fact that the ration of men to women in college went from 70:30 to 30:70 means you did something wrong of equal outcome was the goal.
The mistake, I believe was changing the game from “all women can” to “all women must.”
It showed a dramatic lack of patience in seeing how equal opportunity would play out. It was purely “this is how it SHOULD play out.”
Sweden, the most egalitarian country in terms of opportunity, shows the greatest distinction between sexes in life choices. Should we force more of those women to go to college because we think they should?

We have to stop pretending we know what the outcome should look like if we remove barriers. The answer probably surprises GREEN in ways they don’t like.
Turning the possible into the necessarily actual is a fallacy covered in most intro logic courses. In this archaic world, as you point out, one must be very careful how, and before whom one casts pearls of this nature, as those who have regressed from rational stages seek to crucify the perceived other, when triggered.
It seems a humble attitude towards our own evolution and our current view, no matter what we have allready "evolved through" is a good way of not getting stuck. Aren't we allways in some kind of changing situation? Either in transcending or integrating there is no moment of a final "being right". It seems odd to even think, that some unintegrated view on life can be right by itself, ignoring its holistic place in the whole. Nice inspriration. Thank You guys :-)
Alas, what happens when a little knowledge becomes absolutism, what is missing is wisdom. But then here we all are, playing in the world, doing what must be done for the sake of the ultimate doer. It's nice to think humanity will at some point realize its unicity. But it is all going according to plan, anyway, every way, perfectly.
I think you are the smartest man on the planet, Ken! I am new to learning about and listening to you. However, something tells me that it has taken until now for me to find you, or I wouldn’t have been able to grasp the depth of meaning to what you share of your amazing knowledge!

It's nice to stumble on some Ken Wilber. From about 1998 to 2007 I lived, breathed, and evangelized Integral Theory. The Mean Green Meme has had real power for about 25 years now. It's good to reminded that the reason I could see through all the major narratives of today and get myself into a lot of trouble is because I can confidently assert that I'm second tier cognitively and functionally. I use the term post-postmodern. Let me say that it's no picnic.

Ignacious Avetus I agree that there is one world and one actual reality, but the nuance and complexity of how we construct truth is another matter. But we need a science and philosophy on how to do that which is simple enough for anybody to make sense of and use.

It seems to be that rather than "equal outcomes," everyone needs best outcomes.
Wouldn't it be difficult for a "2nd" tier thinker to create change without the majority of thinkers can't understand their process of thinking? Or would one have to simply find that bridge to clear the gap so that everyone who hears and is willing to explore can see the possibilities?
2nd tier still contains all of 1st tier necessary parts. Their contributions will probably resonate with one stage at a time.
In the video Wilber said ca. 10%, of people need to "get it", then it would start to cascade to everyone.
You embed yourself in first tier structures. Second tier is entirely enmeshed with first tier, not separate from it.

Is this about thinking or doing? Regarding the 10% tipping point to integral world views, do we need 10% of the world living their lives in second tier ? Or is it sufficient to be understanding / feeling second tier whilst still being stuck in first tier practices and systems ?

Can someone help me? In reference to orange/green thinking, are they referring to Spiral Dynamics?
I'm very new to the idea of Spiral Dynamics - could it be that Broken Green or Extreme Green is just a lower tiered thinking, presenting as (i.e., masquerading) as Green? Is such a thing possible? For example, it is difficult to overlook the Tribal element of this Neo- (Broken) Green thinking.
To conclude either way in relation to your question, one needs interview "broken green" and ask questions regarding their perception of typical blue paradigms.
Which would be the next collectivist stage down the spiral.
Which of course, done successfully is presupposed by your abilities to integrate them all.

Of the three paradigms I'm aware of, only the functional paradigm seems to make any sense at all. The interpretive seems to be useful on occasion but the third, the critical, doesn't seem to have any reason at all to exist, since you can derive any information with the functional without taking such a narrow view of the world, which the critical does. The ideas that have come out of the critical paradigm serve only to drive wedges between groups and foster a coveting focused world view.
Equal opportunity and equal outcome don’t have to look the same.
Equal opportunity means that the outcomes take their natural shape. We can’t be frustrated with the outcomes if they’re not what we predicted
If with my equal opportunity I CHOOSE to do something that leads to a perception of unequal outcome it’s because you’re measuring the wrong thing.
Unequal money, degrees, etc. Who cares? What if those weren’t what I was pursuing with my opportunity? Maybe you can measure equal satisfaction with outcome. Then help people who aren’t satisfied learn how to use equal opportunity better.

When they mention "10% of the population reached Green" and whatnot... what is the data they're basing this on? How do they calculate these estimates?
I don't think they have any empirical evidence that such people exist. I'd love to see case studies where this has been tested and measured. Maybe then I'd start to look more seriously at these claims of attainment.

If we really want empowered change, we must look beyond currencies that put prices on our heads. Any worthwhile currency must be based on the work of the people, and on regarding this as a true exchange of energy, that currency must be free to use: no tax, fees, costs. Add to this a ‘bank’ that pays for education and infrastructure, and we have a currency that values creating experiences to empower the most people in the most sustainable way possible.

Iving in this small town Being surrounded by the most basic thinking people who only believe in what they see with there eyes is very hard. I don't know much about this stuff but I have always felt and had a deep knowing of so much more and can understand so much of all this kind of stuff with ease and I feel so strongly that there is something im supposed to be doing and I couldn't get away from it if I wanted to witch I don't. It feels weird being in this body and feels weird even looking at my hands and stuff like teeth lol. Work especially is hard with these kind of people. I can feel people out so naturally. Are these people blocked? Any info on what to do to further myself and to maybe help others without looking crazy? Thanks guys

2nd tier memes always sounded a little sketchy to me, and Wilber's example didn't change my mind. In the example of opportunity vs outcome, the regulating force between those must not not necessarily explained by a new consciousness on the rise, it's sufficient to explain it as the effect of two opposing forces coming to some kind of equilibrium.

Well said, Ken, and lots of good points. Growth in consciousness, working as intended on Earth. I once again encourage cleaning up as the best focus for those who want to grow up and wake up. A good portion of the "problem" with "broken green" is too much focus on waking up, when cleaning up is the essential task allowing balanced growth.
One correction: some people are born high various higher levels of consciousness. I'm not sure if any are born "broken green", but I am sure that people can be born "green" or anywhere in the steps of awareness.
Equality of outcome can be as important as voluntary charity and help from the more aware choose to support it. "We" did not decide that women's study classes are important, some humans did this. Also, it is _your_ choice to see women as getting X% more degrees as "improvement". Are women happier now that so many have abandoned family?
Another correction: Freedom and equality are not contradictory. You are choosing to measure equality in ways that are of you, not of reality. "We" cannot "balance these things as much as possible". Who is "we"? Who will enforce this balance on whom? I see you here engaging in false dichotomies and presumption. Strange to judge who is in "second tier" when your authoritarianism is showing... more cleaning up, perhaps? Where is your power shadow?

I never meet people that agree with me, I know they are out there and can read about it.
I don't believe in hierarchies. What I mean by that is the hierarchy is a way that humans organize, understand and conceptualize. I believe they are useful and helpful in understanding, communicating and designing systems. I think they are a construct that is purely mental. I think they are at some level like a language, a mental abstraction and nothing more. But they can be limiting, like any concept that we start projecting onto things. This is why dominance hierarchies, hierarchical power structures are so shallow. Tossing out hierarchy completely seems foolish. You can probably organize and understand in non hierarchical way and it may allow for different perspectives so it seems fine too me. There is a limiting risk to seeing upward movement as more valuable and that is a weakness since there is no reason to assume that. It takes a great deal of mental flexibility to see past that. It seems like throwing the concept of numbers away or sense of direction then pretending the concepts will never naturally manifest in our perceptions. Then punishing and reacting negatively when they do pop up.
I always believed to assume natural hierarchies was another way of "mistaking the map for the territory" and that is a problem. Coincidentally people who don't agree with me have always so far seemed to arrogantly assume the map is the territory here. I don't think we need to teach hierarchies, but I also don't think they should be taboo. We just need to go further in teaching the mental flexibility to see possible short comings and not teaching as though the hierarchy is inherent in the territory or nature, like our concept of 1 and 2 ...

Are you asking for a reappraisal and/ or rediscovery of "translation"? The lateral exploration of typologies? It seems similar to "showing up" in all various forms.
Hierarchy is just a feature of structure. It's neither good or bad. It's certainly beneficial when it's based on merit.
Objecting to its existence is classic fear of authority. So, I see your point of view as sensible.
All I know is that making sense of sexual selection between men and women, that was enough to explain hierarchy’s to me. Granted a culture can ramp down a hierarchy or keep it in check, we certainly can depose toxic leaders if we join forces. But at same time, the incentives to create them are their. Plus the ego that drives a lot of it is a force that in its purpose puts food on your table and is concerned with the welfare of your kids and wife. The incentives for them are definitely there. There is also dna evidence showing women mating with like 1/17 men. It’s not fun to process that but it’s in the dna.

If he did, I missed it. I am no world class intellect, but this talk struck me, sadly, as undirected stream of consciousness of a calcified mind going down its well trodden paths. But perhaps I am not smart enough to grok it.
i like ken but i think he is probably wrong about equal outcome, and he kind of proved that with his own example. who can say that the number of people reciving degrees wouldn't have reached a more natural equilibrium that wasn't at the cost of one sex or another without that well intention-ed gerrymandering? and note how he had to stop him self from using the term social engineering when talking about how to implement equal outcome. i don't think he is on the right side of that one personally. love his work in general though :)

When moving up to higher levels of integration is there a sense that we are getting to some kind of objective truth, or are we more aiming at a more complete understanding of common subjective truths?
The sum of all subjective truths would be something of an objective truth, but it cannot be reached anyway, we can just inch closer and closer.
Integration is expansive. It attempts to look for the gems of truth at all levels. Each stage is valuable. To aim for a higher stage of development is an act of intergration, not rejection.
I find these theories fascinating. However, Wilbur grossly misunderstands Derrida in particular (and it sounds like Foucault, as well). The paradox of asserting that there is no truth as a universal principle is very much front and centre of the postmodern engagement with world philosophy. The irony is so obvious, and very definitely not lost on Derrida + an entire body of critics and philosophers commenting upon him and deconstructionism. Paradox, in the vein of some of Wilbur's thoughts, in fact, is very central to Derrida's thought. Wilbur does him a massive disservice here.

Yes. Second tier (of "green", for instance) integrates the tier below it (orange). It becomes detached from being right about everything and opens a conversation (mediation) with previous thinking. In other words, "It doesn't throw out the baby with the bath water."

Really, life teaches through fasting, and fasting shuts the physical down, to allow what's left behind to lead. Part of what is left behind is brain, but its breath, distinguishing kinds, or lack of kinds. Heartbeat. Digestion, when the digestive system is empty, we begin to digest the self, this is where I prefer to go. New age, "shamanism" the final act of colonialism. Into the self, includes the genome and it's heredity. Finding "truth" through fasting, if you don't eat, what happens? This is truth. Each "kind" of peoples, have there own connection to earth, so you cannot lump them together, if you do they become homogeneous and the connection is lost. This is what I see. My elders teach by fasting, which is not as simple as it might seem. An Anishenabe.
Everyone learns differently, don't be angry with him put out your message and those who learn that way will come to you.

I think Ken is a bit green because he is attached to including rather than gaining objectivity about the faults of society. Inclusion was his bias and motivation from the very beginning. Surely, at some point he and we need to question the validity of "transcend and include".
the guy had to start somewhere. Understand and assimilate but yes i agree not all ideas are equal and forced inclusion is a bias.
I see it rather as if it exists, whatever that may be, we have to recognize it and at least acknowledge that it exists and therefore cannot be excluded from the conversation. Sort of an 'it what it is' scenario. Don't have to like it or understand it or even like it but it exists and therefore you can relate.
Why must you have an 'equal outcome'? That is not allowing things to play out naturally when each individual does have freedom. Why suppress the outcome or try and balance the outcome? If women happen to succeed when given the opportunity that is what it is. This portion of the talk sounds much redder in nature than anything close to second-tier thinking. There is a big difference between capitalism which might leave behind those that can not keep up (and are often not even given equal opportunity), and a country that guarantees a safety net, and provides opportunity, WITHOUT putting a lid on the opportunity for those you don't want to soar too high. This sounds very much like control rather than any global thinking.
Ok, so you have a lot on the ball so. You're not just floating around without thought or thinking. You are thinking somewhat, just on your pwn. Is this the concept you're trying to relay. Where do you show up? Do you travel? Do you make any money, or have a card, to get on through the world or what. You aren't some out of it non thinker I see. Meditate means thought/ think. Seems like a fundamental mistake to make a distinction between opportunity and outcome. In my understanding an event has an opportunity and an outcome. You do not control outcome. If the outcome determines the next opportunity belongs to the next event. Some (Peterson) seem like they are telling us that the entire set of events are set off by the first opportunity, and that is it. Others are not arguing for equality of outcome, in a sense because it is a tricky thing to keep the distinction short (Peterson has a hard time keeping consistent from what I see) the others are saying what they want is to recognize the next event and intervene to maintain equal opportunity for the next event. What I like about Wilber's model is how intelligently this is presented with each stage being a valuable stage of evolution. As he clearly says, all stages and all people are right.

With all due respect, if Mr. Wilber were evolved he would know the value of silence, and that waking up has nothing to do with concepts or stages or anything mental. I realize that we can share our experiences through language to some extent, but anyone can wake up if they examine who/what they are. And that kind of knowing makes it impossible to harm others, who are also you.
I don't recall him saying that waking up has anything to do with concepts or stages. I am pretty sure he is talking about growing up. Growing up is about evolutionary stages, in the same way that we grow up physically. Waking up and growing up are two different things.

It's weird the way he looks today.
He has a devastating immune system disease called REDD, it’s impact is similar to HIV. He’s had no immune system for about the last 10 years.... hence the tepid age IG, loss of muscle mass etc.... he has massive strokes when this all started manifesting and almost bit his entire tongue off, as well as dying and being brought back to life etc.. it’s super sad. Worse still, he contracted it because of a tragically timed chemical spill in Lake Tahoe when he was there for one weekend with his wife in between cancer treatments before she died after a 5 or 6 year battle. Several other people there that weekend have the illness and it takes around 10 to 15 years to start to show symptoms.
