  • phrasal verbs in English | learning phrasal verbs
Today's lesson is a list of important phrasal verbs you can use in any conversation. 100 is a lot and I don't recommend learning this entire list in one day.
🏆 HERE IS THE CHALLENGE: Choose 2 new phrasal verbs to learn every day. Write your example sentences in the comments below OR write your examples in a notebook.
🤔Just 2? That seems easy! ...After about 10-15 days it might not seem so easy anymore. 😅 But keep going!

    Hi Arnel
I have a question regarding passive voice
1.A letter is written by him daily.
2.A letter is written daily by him.
    And
3.He is praised by him for his courage.
4.He is praised for his courage by him .
Which would be the right position of the adverb daily in first two sentences and the prepositional phrase 'for his courage ' in last two sentences.
I have seen many books of grammar but not a single book addresses this grammar point.
I also posted this question on your website three days ago but didn't get any answer yet
I'll be grateful if you could explain!

    • @Drebor94
      @Drebor94 Před rokem

I am not a native speaker, but I‘m on the verge of becoming a secondary school English teacher. So I‘ll try my best:
Grammatically, the first sentence would be right in both verbalizations. Merely the focus of the sentence gets changed by it. Putting „daily“ at the end of your message emphasizes the fact that you do it everyday. The other form emphasizes the fact about who is doing something.
Nevertheless, I would prefer adding everyday instead of daily. Sounds better, but that‘s only my feeling about this sentence.
The other two sentences are much easier to categorize: „He is praised for his courage by him“ is correct, the other verbalization is not. „Praised for“ should not get separated, because it clearly explains for what you are being praised for.

@@ArnelsEverydayEnglish Thanks a lot Arnel, I don't wanna seem a wise guy or a know-it-all person but I learned English Grammar in my country and then I had the chance to live in the USA and I lived there for almost 10 years and I learned a little bit more about the language, but that was a long time ago, so I'm used to those big lessons, besides, I'm brushing up on my English and I know that if I watch your videos I'm gonna learn even more, thank you very much Arnel, I'll be waiting for another video of yours, I'm looking forward to it.👍.
