    Whow! Whow! Whow! Love it! A lot to take in all at one go but well worth the effort. You see things I don't, your eye for detail is quite amazing! So much to learn but you make mastering Photoshop Elements attainable. Thank you for putting up these excellent tutorials. Keep 'em coming!!

    Wow! This was a real trip, George! Love all the mixtures of color and polished off with the overlay. The three methods are a huge plus in this tutorial. Stumbled a little with the selections, but did get them along with their copies. This is quite a lesson on layers and variations of color. Great tutorial, thanks, George. It's interesting that you threw in a little history with all the tips!

      You're welcome John, occasionally one of my projects comes out just right. This is one of those times. As an artist I am usually not satisfied with my end results, what's in my head is almost always better. But sometimes things turn out right, this video is one of those times. The Sparkle text is another, I am very happy with that one.

    Very, very good George! I have worked on a couple of projects the last few days using colors on B&W, the problem I was running into more than anything else was confusion. It pays to have a good layout and work flow. You took what could have been very difficult and broke it down into about a 5 step process. Much easier to do and much harder to get confused.
    I have a short story to also illustrate. Replaced a door the other day in the house but acquired a nasty squeak in doing so. I looked at every way possible to fix this door! The next day I noticed the noise was not from the door but from the trim around the door! Perhaps the door was a little warped who knows? However one fact remains, the original door installer put in the door FIRST and then put up the TRIM! See, you do have to follow steps, and in a order!!! I am normally a person who does not think this way but I think I am changing!
    Thanks for all you do!
    Rich

      +MrMoonpie001 You're Welcome Rich. Sorry I can't give you any suggestions for the door, but I can show you how to colorize it in PSE.

    Wow! I don't know if your videos were online a long time ago when i purchased Elements, but this will be very helpful in the future. The lasso tool has always frustrated me, so I'll try again another time. Thanks! So many things on computer seem to be left up to the devices of the user. Ugh!

      You're welcome Richard! I have been on CZcams for over 5 years but only in the past year or so have my subscriber numbers been high enough that CZcams is beginning to give me decent exposure. It takes a long time to grow a CZcams channel unless you get a viral video. All of the top How To channels got at least 1 viral video early on, I didn't have that luck so I am more like the tortoise than the hare, but slow and steady wins the race. If you want to help others find my channel make sure to subscribe and also click Like and Share on every video you watch. Thanks.

    I loaded a B+W. Clicked on Select, Load Selection isn't highlighted, so it doesn't work for me

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  Před 6 lety

      Hi Alan the Load Selection only works for previously saved selections in the same file. The beginning of this video is all about how to create the selection, then save the selection. Then the selection can be reloaded later as needed.

      Thank you for your reply, this is taking a step backwards then. Before when I used Elements 10, I'd load a B+W, draw around the area to colour, then open a new layer, select either, Photo Filter or Hue and Sat....job done

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  Před 6 lety

      Hi Alan, same concept, different technique. The sequence shown in this video takes a little longer but is more controllable and allows you go go back later and change the colors to something else without having to redo the selections.

      All sorted, I reset the RGB, From Grey Scale, reloaded image...job done. I think the problem was, After the upgrade of my HD to windows 10 and Elements to 2018. I had always had RGB set, this new Elements came with Grey as the defualt. Simple things like that I took for granted. Thank you for advice, I'm now up and running

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  Před 6 lety

      Hi Alan, I see the problem now. Photoshop Elements defaults to RGB, even in Windows 10 installations. But individual images can be saved at different color modes and Photoshop Elements will open them with the color profile that they contain. What happened in your case is that you opened a B+W image that was previously saved as Gray Scale, with no color information. Normally when Photoshop Elements converts an image to B+W it leaves it as an RGB file but with the colors set at 0 saturation, this allows you to easily add back in color if you want to, for instance giving the photo a sepia tone look. If on the other hand the image has been converted to Gray Scale then all of the color information has been stripped from the image, the only way to colorize a gray scale image is to do what you did and convert it to RBG mode, giving back the color channels, of course still set at 0 saturation. The reason I am going in to this much detail is that you may come across another gray scale image in the future and you will be back to square one unless you check the mode that the image is in. Just keep in mind that color mode is set on an image by image basis.
      This is one of those areas where Adobe Photoshop has an advantage over Photoshop Elements, in Adobe Photoshop you can set a default color mode for the program and have Adobe Photoshop automatically convert any image you open to your default color mode,. You don't have that option in Photoshop Elements so you may occasionally need to check the mode on images that you open.
