- At this year's WonderCon, we stop by the eFX Collectibles booth to check out their latest prop replicas, including a Power Rangers helmet prototype. For this project, Saban provided the original Green Ranger helmet for reference, and we geek out with eFX's Bryan Ono about the details of this iconic piece of costuming!

I remember when there was only 5 rangers (Red, Black, Yellow, Pink and Blue). At school, talking complete hot air, trying to sound cool, I mentioned there was a green ranger. A few weeks later, there was a green ranger on the show. I was a god amongst the other 8 year olds for one week. Good times.

No he’s a crook that takes peoples preorder down payments for these props and doesn’t release the items for several years with no updates to his customers.

@@HybrydATP64 That sucks, Hasbro should make them themselves for more accuracy and faster service. Aniki wait times are way too long from what i heard.
Saad S hasbro and Saban gave them the resources but wait time its because everything is handmade not mass produced unlike other brands
@@HybrydATP64 Yes i understand that. But from a business perspective, it is better for them to have a special team in place or facility that specifically makes custom MMPR suits/helmets. I managed a print company and everything was done online. You pick what you want, measurements, color, and all cosplay items to go with your order. Then you checkout and pay and track. MMPR is a HUGE franchise and the demand for show accurate cosplay is in high demand. Aniki is great and makes everything hand made but people will always be willing to pay extra 500$ to get it done in 30 days and shipped faster. Hasbro and Saban are slacking!

Mmpr s helmets were always the coolest. I think. Besides white and green, the black ranger helmet was my favorite
Interesting tidbit about the starlord helmet I didn’t know the lenses were blue, also I like the Japanese version of the PR helmets without the clasp much more streamlined and natural

That's the Super Senti Version. American version has the clips on the sides of the helmets.
Hopes and dreams have been long SHATTERED to own a tv copy of this ICONIC helmet 😢😭
BUT I am beyond happy to own a copy of this to finish my self after many years.

Still the best power ranger ,Green ranger was my favorite ranger as a kid, and is still a favorite as an adult and a dad, that tradition has been passed on to my son who is also a jdf green ranger fan, can't wait to hear about the new movie coming out, hopefully soon, may JDF rest in peace, long live the evil green ranger,

That helmet looks awesome! I wonder what they're going to price it at. I've never seen them with the air holes on the visor. I have aniki made helmets and visor holes would definitely help with it fogging up.
Only the Japanese version (which this is) has the ventilated visor. The American-made version has a solid visor (air holes right above the mouthpiece), and latches.
There is no American version. Two Dragon Ranger helmets were produced for PR, the original (MMPR) and later the replacement (Dino Thunder), both produced and shipped directly from Japan by Toei. The MMPR version had clasps added, and the Dino Thunder version was sent (and left without clasps) after the crew stated they no longer had access to the original. Both had visor ventilation and holes above the mouthpiece. The Dino Thunder version is still the one used to this day, and I believe, is also the one featured in this video (given the above information).

A few of the Japanese sentai scenes show green ranger with clasps as well so that's not a completely accurate statement but yes for the MOST part the latches were mainly US based.. still great interview!
Sun of a witch! So there were holes in the visor! I was theorizing that there were holes on the visor for certain reasons but I didn't know how it was applied! I have to rethink how I make the helmet I'm working on now.

well for starters, gundam, kamen rider, and super sentai, are a HUGE tradition in japan.
Westerners have marvel and dc. captain america, Super man, batman, iron man etc...
Think of it like this. Super sentai(power rangers) are the superman to japanese people. This is their superheroes that kids look up to.
Just because some of you dont like them, does not mean others do to.

I just want the Red Dino Ranger from Dino Thunder helmet. It's one of the best ones.
For some reason seeing the guy who works for the company seem so happy really teared me up, i dont even know why because i rarely cry at anything, what is it with me seeing Japanese people happy that makes me so upset?

So the legacy helmet is due to come out shortly - and I notice in this video that the screen used prop has a curved eyepiece, flush with the helmet. However the legacy replica has a flat eyepiece, recessed in to the helmet. Such a shame to get something very simple wrong... Hope this EFX one gets it right

@@cesarfelipecuetosurco7189 from what I’ve heard there were a couple of screen casts in circulation. My understanding was WildRanger5 and Henshin Vault had legit screen casts. But I’m not completely sure if it’s from EFX.
If I’m wrong please correct me.
@@Darkthelegend I just know that the cast was known to the public (fans) around April/May this year 2022, then some prop makers in their fanpages claimed to have the original screen cast (some even say it was from EFX) and started selling helmets

What if eFX Collectibles announce next year like War Machine Mark 1 Helmet replica and Iron Patriot Helmet replica that these helmets light up like the eFX Iron Man Mark 7 Helmet

Doubtful. The original MMPR used helmet had claps and was also said to be no longer available, which is why Toei had to produce and send a brand new one for Dino Thunder. They have used that one ever since and this is likely it as well. It's still made by Toei/Rainbow with the same mold, just highly unlikely it was used in zyuranger.

This looks like the repainted "Fighting Spirit" helmet that has been used since Dino Thunder (the MMPR used helmet is gone so they had to commission another). Still from Japan, and from the original mold, but not used on Zyuranger.
What are the differences between the FS MMPR green ranger helmet and the original DragonRanger from Zyuranger? Paint applications aside.
And... What version did Toei used for Gokaiger?
@@elborrego4916 There really are no differences besides the paint application (excluding varying inclusions of clasps and breathing holes). The mold is the same as they are all produced by a company named Rainbow exclusively for Toei. The original DragonRanger helmet/suit is in Toei archives and has been used for display at expos, etc.

But there have been multiples produced (like seen in the Zyu2 footage used for "The Wannabe Ranger" and "Mighty Morphin' Mutants" when there are two on screen at once). Some are used for attraction suits in Japan and others are used for stage shows;

They are basically just made whenever extras or newer versions are wanted/needed. JDF visited Toei studios awhile back and took a photo of the helmet/suit used for Gokaiger that was in storage.
I say this is the Fighting Spirit version because it is the only one Disney/Saban has had in their possession since Dino Thunder, and it was notably re-painted to remove the silver stripes after the filming of the Super Megaforce Legendary Battle. The original MMPR helmet and suit was either sold at auction or destroyed in 2003 when Disney liquidated the archives as Power Rangers was officially cancelled after Wild Force (which was later revoked). This is why Toei was contacted to provide a replacement for both it and the White Ranger.

Thats the sea green one. The og helmet was emerald green. That was most likely a stunt helmet and not full on screen used.

what is more durable than this? The first Ultraman suits... they are still in perfect condition and the plastic are still very good!!!!!
I actually prefer the white latches, they added a sense of texture and realism to the helmet.

Fun Fact the original helmet doesn't exist. It was accidently Destroyed. Anyone who follows the fandom knows that. Some good artists made replicas that are screen accurate that they just bought and then used as a master.
another fun fact. You're false. There are a few original greens. One at the bandaiAmerica's headquaters, on display with other helmets.
Three displayed at the bandai museum of super sentai. well, was, until closing of the facilit. lastly, a few at the bandai storage. Reference; they used the original dragonranger helmet for gokaiger and the gokaiger pre-war. The helmet was also used on akibaranger.

The first power rangers, it got remade a million times with different costumes.
Power rangers is an adaptation of the japanese. Tv series super sentai. Mmpr is based on the later season of that show called zyuranger. Its availible to watch from shout factory dvds
