She suffered from trauma, c-ptsd, depression, and anxiety, and she felt her birthday was ruined forever because of that event. But she’s doing better now, and this song shows the struggle she had been through and she is still going through, but she is doing much better without this person and with people who actually care for her; like her partner at the end

On our 23rd birthday, our ex heard us discussing how excited we were to have a good/safe birthday, and proceeded to convince my family I was a suicide risk, and physically assaulted me as they watched "to protect me" because he was angry I wanted to take a break while my grandmother was dying.
I'm now about to move in with friends who love me and support me, and as a late birthday gift, they're taking me to a concert of one of my favorite music artists, personal meet and greet included.
The amount of change there is when celebrating with someone who loves you after only spending your birthday with those who've wished your downfall is WILD and I'm so excited for this change for the better.

this video gave me goosebumps! this probably sounds weird but the parts where you are being dragged down again and again, drowned and alone in darkness really really remind me of a relationship with an abusive partner i had - the feeling has always been hard to put into words but the dark imagery in these parts of your video encapsulates it perfectly.
(except instead of drew smiling at the end of my table it would be my eleven year old daughter!)

Just watched and cried so hard. I turned 24 this year and I’ve had a really hard time and I’ve gone through a loss of best friends because they just didn’t wanna have me in their life anymore and I felt so used and so depressed after.
