If you have Kia Optima and you have engine noise / rattle coming from the top end of the engine on Kia we will explain what could cause that in this video. A warn fuel pump cam follower can cause engine noise and rattle. It takes only a few minutes to remove the fuel pump cam follower and inspect it on Kia. We demonstrated what could cause engine noise / rattle on 2013 Kia Optima but the video may be helpful on:

You should start with the sound so the viewers can be sure it's the same sound. Other than that , your videos are on point and very descriptive. Thank you for what you do .
Advice: Skip forward to the 2 minute mark. That's where he finally starts talking about it. Also, he has dozens of links in the description, but none of them are to the the second videos that he mentions showing how they remove the fuel pump. So now I have to go searching through all their videos to find it.
Love these videos. Hate internal combustion vehicles with too many parts, too many points of failure.

Love how there is no example of the noise, there is over 100 kinds of noises from the engine, you can't just describe it and say oh this is for sure the problem

@@stevedubya291 definitely true, but i have yet to find anything on the internet about the actual noise im getting. I need to get a video soon because everyone talks about the ticking which is normal, but im getting a major squeal on cold start. My issue is, it began after replacing the hpfp lpfp and fuel injectors. (basic unneeded but wanted to do maintenance) noise began and i replaced the cam follower as well. Till this day still getting the squeal noise
My noise sounds like a high pitch metal rattle of something small. Ugh, probably just going to take it to the dealer to find out what it is and from there figure out if it's easy enough to do it myself.

Hi guys been watching a lot of your vids and subscribed to all them, very helpful. I have 2012 kia sorento, took the HPFP off and there is NO cam follower under the pump. Is this normal? It dosent look like it takes a cam follower.
Have you come across of engine noise from the 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid?
I have a 2015 Kia Sportage. With 146K miles. I don't hear excessive noise, but do I need to check that bearing just the same? Sometimes when I first crank the car up I hear a little rattle for about 1 second and it goes away. It takes about a second for the oil to lubricate whatever's rattling in there. Also, if I inspect this bearing will I tear the gasket?

Hey, could you guys do a video on the kia rio knock sensor, location and test.
Try using techron gas for two months. Knock sensor codes will appear on scanner if using cheap gas.

I have a clicking noise on my 2013 Kia Sportage gasoline engine not diesel. The noise presents itself with the engine OFF. Yes engine OFF. Only when I turn the key to ACC right before cranking. If your location is in US so be it ;-) I have an issue with my KIA Sportage GTLine. An extremely annoying noise appear only at cold start at about 1500-1600rpm and also when driving each time between these rpms. Just on the upper limits of previous gear before shifting. Could it be the same issue? Where can I hear the noises you are treating? It will be good to start videos with the noises.

Did you mention that GDI engines are noisy on start up and that's perfectly normal until warm.

Hello guys, I have a 2014 kia sorento with 167k km on the odometer, The high pressure fuel pump part number of my car is 353202G740, I bought a new one but they gave me part no. 353202G730. They look the same except for the low pressure fuel line nossle. Can I use that on my sorento?

They cam follower is hard to find and the Kia dealer mechanics try to tell you that you need a new engine when you mention this to them.
I only hear the rattle when I am accelerating quickly. No rattle when Idling even at hi RPM. 1.6 non-turbo GDI 2013.

I have Kia Soul with a DOHC 16V engine, and it's making this noise while driving; it started on the left and then right turns but now also periodically while driving normally.
Also, it shows the Oil pressure warning light for about a second or two while driving.
Is there any oil leak? Check the oil pressure switch.
@@wolger, I took the liberty to check the oil levels, and it turned out it needed a refill. The dealership had said otherwise. 🤷♂️

Pressure sensor on the oil filter housing is why my oil light came on and it had oil in it

At Kia, the right name is something with “roller”. If you go to the store, show them the picture or the part. I had to spend a few minutes with them to find this freaking part on a map. And it ended up not being the cause of my noise. I feel like a 🤡 after throwing $115 away.
Using a high octane gas (as indicated by another guy here) kinda reduced my issue like 95% down. You may want to check the upper part carbonization (common in GDIs engine).
would be great if you start with showing the problem ( signs /symptoms) before you start on fixing it

Hi guys. I am having issues with my Optima 2019. I hear a rattle noise ONLY when applying torque and the engine is around 2000 RPM.
The noise is not present if I am driving “smoothly” nor in park mode (on neutral, I can have the engine running at any RPM and there will be no noise).
I didnt find what is causing it so far. :(
I’ve took it to 2 repair shops, but nobody pays much attention to what I say. So frustrating.

@@frtavares I found the issue. I switched from 87 octane to 91. Our car has pre detonation. 91 octane solved the issue car runs great now no more noise. Just more expensive gas 👎
