Buddhism is fundamentally flawed because of it's tenet: There is suffering in this world and the reason why suffering exists is because there is desire. To get rid of desire and attain salvation one has to follow the eightfold path and achieve a state of abandoning desire and thus the soul frees itself from the cycle of rebirths..
Here is the problem with that philosophy. Even to achieve salvation one has to desire it. That's where the flaw lies- at its base. Buddha never preached the existence of God. In Dalai llama's own words Buddhism is an atheistic religion.
Anything that begins to exist has a cause.
      The universe began to exist.
Therefore, the universe has a cause.
There was no time, space or matter before the universe began. To cause matter, space, and time to come into existence there has to be an uncaused cause which is not contained by space, or made of matter or bound by time; and it has to be a power and intelligence with no limits and it's got to be personal. This power beyond which we cannot think of anyone is God, who is a spirit. However, if there is no God and if all that exists is matter then why should there be a soul? Why should there be the cycle of birth and rebirths? Why adopting the
Eight fold path one can free oneself from the cycle of birth and rebirths? That is not conversant with a material world. Those are self defeating aspects of Buddhism.

Now before any wishful thinking Muslim starts spewing that standard script I am gonna leave this here
The following is( Tafsir al-Tabari ) which is the first ever commentary on the Quran done by al-tabari who is considered one of the greatest and reliable historian of early Islam
The meaning of the Almighty’s saying, ‘Until he reached the place of the setting of the sun he found it set in a spring of murky water,’ is as follows:
When the Almighty says, ‘Until he reached,’ He is addressing Zul-Qarnain. Concerning the verse, ‘the place of the setting of the sun he found it set in a spring of murky water,’ the people differed on how to pronounce that verse. Some of the people of Madina and Basra read it as ‘Hami’a spring,’ meaning that the sun sets in a spring that contains mud. While a group of the people of Medina and the majority of the people of Kufa read it as, ‘Hamiya spring’ meaning that the sun sets in a spring of warm water. The people of commentary have differed on the meaning of this depending on the way they read the verse.
    Tafsir al-Tabari 18:86
So al-Tabari says of the Basran and Madina reading of the Qur'an:
بـمعنى: أنها تغرب فـي عين ماء ذات حمأة "Meaning: that it sets in a spring of muddy water."
And al-Tabari says of the Kufan and Madina reading of the Qur'an:
يعنـي أنها تغرب فـي عين ماء حارّة "It means that it sets in a spring of hot water"
Early authorities such as Ibn 'Abbas explain this to mean that the sun sets in black mud:
(Ibn Abbas was a cousin of Muhammad and close companion. Muhammad reportedly prayed for ibn Abbas to Allah to increase his knowledge on religious matters ( Sahih Bukhari 9:92:375 ) he was known as “the interpreter of the Quran” by Abdullah bin Masud, “ocean of knowledge” and “learned man of the Ummah”. The Islamic literature is full of statements of praise from the earliest Muslims, and prophet Muhammad himself ) . So it no matter of doubt that ibn Abbas is a great scholar of Islam now let's see what he has to say about Quran 18:86

That’s ok, we understand your comprehension of the Quran is convoluted here’s some reading-
When I read the verse, I was puzzled by the meaning as well. The main message is between 18:83 - 18:91.
Here is the translation I read. Please also read my explanation of it after you finish reading this as well.
"And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, I will recite to you about him a report."
      (QS. Al-Kahf 18: Verse 83)
"Indeed We established him upon the earth, and We gave him to everything a way."
      (QS. Al-Kahf 18: Verse 84)
      "So he followed a way"
      (QS. Al-Kahf 18: Verse 85)
"Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness."
      (QS. Al-Kahf 18: Verse 86)
"He said, As for one who wrongs, we will punish him. Then he will be returned to his Lord, and He will punish him with a terrible punishment."
      (QS. Al-Kahf 18: Verse 87)

      "Then he followed a way"
      (QS. Al-Kahf 18: Verse 89)

"Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had not made against it any shield."

      * Via Qur'an English Quran English - Apps on Google Play
What leads some to doubt Islam (in the modern age) are verses 86 & 90. When I read these two verses, I thought reaching the ‘setting’ or ‘rising’ of the sun meant literally what it means. The place where the sun gets up or sets down.
I read them once again and this time i looked at is as a whole. The interpretation I got waslike this ‘on his journey, he came to a land where he found the sun setting as if submerging into murky water.’ and a similar interpretation for the rising of the sun.
The Dhu’l Qarnayn episode can be divided into three journeys, the first two of which are described in verses 18:86 and 18:90. In the first phrase of 18:86, Dhu’l Qarnayn travels until he reaches maghriba alshshamsi (مَغْرِبَ الشَّمْسِ), and in the first phrase of 18:90, he travels until he reaches matliAAa alshshamsi (مَطْلِعَ الشَّمْسِ).
Three possible interpretations of the Arabic words maghriba alshshamsi in 18:86 and matliAAa alshshamsi in 18:90 have been claimed:
      1)The west and the east
2)The time when the sun sets and the time when the sun rises
3)The place where the sun sets and the place where the sun rises.
Dhul-Qarnayn and the Sun Setting in a Muddy Spring (Part One) (link for in depth explanation of these verses)
Now, in the end, you might ask what the point of saying such a verse is? I don't know. I can make give an explanation based on my own reasoning:
One explanation would be that perhaps there were (or still are?) people who had the same stories and legends in regards to this figure. By them hearing the same thing being mentioned in the quran, it would facilitate their conversion to Islam and increase their faith.
There are verses in the quran that no one really knows the true meaning of, and humanity maybe never will until the end of times (I don't know, this one's just my uninformed opinion).
For example, 5 verses which make (more) sense to us now as opposed to the past are:
      ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِى الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِى النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُمْ بَعْضَ الَّذِى عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
"Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness]."
      30:41
      (pollution)
"And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander."
      51:47
      (Expansion of the universe)
"And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away."
      (21:32)
(the sky protects us from the sun's ultraviolet radiation and comets)
"And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming."
      (21:33)
(moons revolve around their planets in an orbit. Planets and their moon(s) revolve around the sun in an orbit. Our solar system moves around the milky way in orbit etc.)
"And of all things We created two mates (((i.e. pairs))) ; perhaps you will remember."
      51:49
(This isn't referring to reproduction, because some organisms reproduce asexually (they do so by having the pair of reproducing organs in them). Male & female, positive and negative, light & darkness etc. all in pairs)
Some people say that you must take the quran literally as opposed to figuratively. For example:
"And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [in submission to Allah]."
      30:53
In this verse, it is clear that 'blind' doesn't refer to people who's eyes don't function, but it refers to people who don't accept the truth. Hence, in this verse the definition is figurative. (I know this isn't related to your question, I added it in because some people say that Muslims bend the truth to match what they want to believe. Sometimes that is true, sometimes not)
On another note, you will see that in all (?) translations, the translator adds words in brackets. In most cases, that's because otherwise the translation would be difficult to read and understand. In verse 86 however, they added [as if]. I believe the reason they did that is because in the same verse it is said ‘he found it’, which in English is usually followed by as if, but in Arabic that is not the case, yet the meaning is implied.
If you want to truly understand the quran, I'd say the best option is learning Arabic.

All wrong, when Allah said :HE the person Allah was speaking about, he saw or found the sun setting in a pool or what ever, it means that IT APPEARED TO HIM TO BE SETTING IN MUDDY WATER. Allah never said the sun sets in a pool.
Now can you tell me since the sun is responsible for night and day, how did the first 3 days of creation happe when the sun was created on the 4th day? Lolz thats the kinda crap you all should TRY to rectify. Goid luck. Emotional and wrong answers now:

your whole nosense about the word wajada is based on ignorance of Arabic language. you can translate the word wajada depending on the context as "he found it" or "it looked like that to him" or "appeared to him" which is not a literal translation. but anyone who studies different languages know you can just literally translate words from one language to another language.
point is this experience described in the verse as "wajada" is the experience from point of view of dhul qarnayn, so your claim of "undeniable error" is only in your mind

The verse doesn't say the "sky" but rather the heavens (anything that is above the earth). Which means that since the earth is in orbit, and because of gravitational forces, objects above do not come crashing down on earth, since if there was no gravity to hold everything, the planets and starts would crash chaotically. Don't put your own ignorance in the verse and claim that this is what the verse is saying.

Why would allah use arabic to reveal a detailed, perfect and uncorrupted revelation when that very language can be ambigious and hardly translated? Therefore it is not suited for the masses that want to understand the "one true religion". Which is why, whenever muslims hide behind the excuse, of you not knowing arabic when debating, they shoot themselves in the foot, admitting the "one true religion" can only be understood in arabic and therefore isnt for everyone.

A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS A DANGEROUS THING ! The Arabic language is so eloquent , it takes several English words to express the meaning of one Arabic word . the word " wajada " means to appear , to find , to get , to obtain or to hit upon , the word " Maghrib " is also present , it denotes time & place , The place here is Lychnitis , west of Macedonia , It is fed entirely by underground springs in a limestone region . where the water is never clear . That is why Allah says in the Quran " it appeared to +him " or " he found it setting in a murky spring " If I say " the Queen said 2 + 2= 5 " you cannot say " I said 2 + 2 = 5. The very words , sunrise & sunset are unscientific . the sun do not rise or set ., but yet everyday in the newspaper , Sunset at 6:00 pm, Sunrise at 5;00 am. iT'S JUST PEOPLE WITH LIMITED UNDERSTANDING WILL SEE MANY MISTAKES IN QURAN . This is why Allah swt says " SEEK KNOWLEDGE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE ".

If you read the entire Surah Al Kahf, this is the story of Dhu Al Qarnayn, who travelled to the "point of sun set" and the "point of sunrise" and also between two mountains.
The focus of the story is him giving warning to the people living in all these places about Judgement day, asking them to believe in Allah and do good deeds.
In many tafseer I've read, one verse talking about the setting point of the sun and the next verse talking about the rising point of the sun, and then the "between the mountains" refers to the fact that he travelled East, West, far and wide wherever he could go... to give Dawah to the people.
I love how when debating the "authenticity" of the Qur'an these people bypass the actual purpose of the surahs and debate useless semantics.
The actual story of someone travelling far and wide to deliver the message of the oneness of God... message of the Prophets... what a beautiful narration and people are stuck debating semantics.

@adam almasri is an idiot. Waste of time. He could not understand the simple fact that the Quran is just stating what Zulqarnain saw in verse he quoted. It is not stating a scientific fact.
Read the statement below of Allah
Quran surah 21 verse 33 says
And Allah is the One Who created the day and the night, the sun and the moon, each travelling in an orbit.
Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam says about the sun
“It is going in a non-stop regular motion. It does not cease or disappear. It sets in one place and rises in another, so that some people would say it has set and other would say it has just risen (at the same moment).”
Ref: Musnad Abi Ishaq El Hamdani
Even today we can see the sun setting & rising in water.

In ancient mythology and cosmology, there are various stories and motifs that involve the depiction of distant or mythical lands, sometimes described as dark, mysterious, or treacherous. However, the specifics of these stories vary greatly across different cultures and traditions.
In Greek mythology, for example, there are tales of distant lands such as the realm of Hades, the underworld, which was often depicted as a dark and gloomy place. Additionally, the Greeks had stories of mythical islands or lands located at the edge of the world, such as the Island of the Blessed or the Hyperborea, but these were not typically described as having muddy or dark beaches.
In Egyptian mythology, the concept of a distant or mythical land is less prevalent, although there are mentions of the Duat, the underworld realm through which the sun god Ra traveled during the night. However, the Duat was not typically depicted as having muddy or dark beaches.
It's important to note that ancient mythologies often contain symbolic and metaphorical elements, and the descriptions of distant or mythical lands should be understood within the context of their cultural and religious significance. The specific depiction of a muddy and dark beach at the far end of the earth is not a commonly attested motif in ancient Egyptian or Greek mythology.

" I opened the windows & found the sun setting on a hill ". The word " Wajada " can also be translated as " saw " This is figurative language , when you describe something by comparing it to something else . The words or phrases used don't have a literal meaning , it uses metaphors , allusions , similes , hyperboles & other examples to help describe the object you are talking about . The Quranic statement ( 18 :86 ) is clearly metaphorical . The non believers already knew about the expeditions , they were just testing the Prophet saw , & the Quran not only gave answers to all their questions but explained these in much detail . After hearing the answers to their questions , exactly as they had been told by the people of the books , the non believing Arabs quietly went away , dejected at their defeat

According to islamic written book sources, mohammad was killed for being a false prophet. False prophet means islam is false and allah is false god.
      SAHIH AL BUKHARI 4428
Narrated Aisha: the prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaybar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison".
Prophet mohammad died the same way he prophesied if he was a false prophet.

First and foremost, it's important to recognize that the Quran is not a book of science, although you may come across some related verses. What you may not fully grasp is that the Quran was never meant to be translated. If it were merely translated, you would never truly comprehend its message.
The Quran has been interpreted by various scholars, each influenced by their proficiency in the Arabic language, cultural background, and general knowledge. In Islamic belief, two core principles hold paramount importance: one's intention and the use of reason.
As long as the earlier interpreters had sincere intentions, even if they made some errors, it is considered excusable. According to Islamic faith, Allah forgives those whose intentions were not to mislead or harm anyone.
What's truly remarkable about the Quran is that, regardless of interpretation and language, the Arabic text remains unchanged and can always serve as a reference for verification. Much of the Quran is open to interpretation, and it must be understood in the context of the times we live in. The Quran provides people with the necessary tools to understand and live by its teachings. It explicitly encourages the use of intellect to grasp its message.
To address your inquiries regarding the intersection of science and the Quran, it is imperative to engage in a thoughtful discourse with a knowledgeable Muslim fluent in Arabic. Furthermore, it is essential that the scientist possesses expertise in the specific subject matter under consideration

There are more than 30 versions of the Qur'an, each with differences not only in the readings but in the skeletal text (rasm). I am a Muslim, and I believe that the translation may not be an exact word-for-word rendering. The correct phrase should be "he found it." However, it's important to note that when we discuss the Quran in this context, we are not referring to the story of Dhul-Qarnayn but rather the Quranic verses related to the sun.
Let's explore what the Quran says about the sun:
In Surah Yasin (36:38), it is stated: "And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing."
There are two different interpretations regarding the meaning of the phrase "لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَّهَـا" ("on its fixed course for a term (appointed)"):
    1. The first interpretation suggests that it refers to the sun's fixed location, which is beneath the Throne, positioned beyond the Earth in that direction. Wherever the sun goes, it remains beneath the Throne, along with all of creation, as the Throne is considered the roof of creation.
    2. The second interpretation proposes that this phrase signifies the end of the sun's appointed time, which will occur on the Day of Resurrection. At that time, the sun's fixed course will cease, it will come to a halt, and it will be rolled up. This world will come to an end, marking the conclusion of its appointed time. This signifies the predetermined course of the sun's existence.
It's worth noting that Ibn Mas`ud and Ibn `Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, recited this verse as: "وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لَامُسْتَقَرَّ لَهَا" ("And the sun runs with no fixed course for a term"), suggesting that the sun has no specific destination or fixed place; rather, it continuously moves day and night without slowing down or stopping.
This interpretation aligns with other Quranic verses that emphasize the sun's constant motion, such as in Surah Ibrahim (14:33): "And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you." This indicates that the sun and the moon never slow down or stop until the Day of Resurrection.
Furthermore, the Quran also mentions that all celestial bodies, including the sun, move in orbits: "They all float, each in an orbit."
In summary, these Quranic verses provide insights into the nature and movement of the sun, which can be seen as consistent with modern scientific understanding.

There is a verse in the Quran that Earth was created in four days exactly, for anyone who asks.
So, Allah knew people would ask how long it took for Earth to be created, and the answer is: four days exactly.
That does not seem to be very scientific or accurate. It looks more like humans were authors of the Quran.

For the brilliant, educated and enlightened Muslims to know the truth, they should find answers to the following questions and try to understand what the secular scholars and
researchers have to say about it
      1. How many centuries after the death of Prophet Mohammed the Quran was written down and how many Qurans were in circulation before it was
standardized?...Where is the real quran now?
      2. Were the contents of the Quran copied from any other ancient texts? (Christian, Jewish, Pagan, local myths and fables etc.)
      3. Was there one or more than one Mecca? and where is the real Mecca?
      4. What is the truth behind the Zam Zam well?
      5. What is the real history of kaba? and who built it?
      6. Do history, archeology, and science support the claims of Islam?
      7. What is satanic verses and why is it important for the understanding of Islam?
      8. 'Without lies, ...... dies' - about which religion it is said and why?
      9. One of the major functions of a Prophet is to prophecy. What are the prophecies by 'Prophet' Mohammed and what are the ones that were really fulfilled? And What is the real name of Prophet Mohammed and what does it mean?
      10. Are Muslims really the descendants of Abraham and if not, who really are they and what history says about it?
      11. Who are the members of trinity? 'Father, Son and the Holy Spirit' or 'God, Jesus, and Mary', as 'revealed' to Prophet Mohammed by Allah, recorded in the Quran, and believed by the Muslims?
      12. What about Prophet Mohammed 's flying visit to the Jewish temple in Jerusalem. Did he really visit the temple and what is the evidence for it?
      13. What are the contrbutions made by Christians and jews vs. Muslims, for the benefit of mankind?
      14. Is there any difference between a Muslim with exposure to western ideas, thoughts and education and one without any exposure to the same? If there is any difference, what is the reason for the difference and what is the basis for the western thoughts, educaton etc. that makes the difference?
      15. I am giving below the names of some of the founders of modern religions and also the negative traits of ordinary humans. You decide for yourself who is the only person, who has all these traits
      a) Founders of modern religions: Gowthama Budha, Mahaveer Jain, Zorastar, Jesus Christ, Mohammed Nabi and Guru Nanak.
      b) Negative traits: Hatred, fanaticism, religious intolerance, violence, mass murder, womanizing, pedophilia, cunningness, coveteousness, mental imbalance, suicidal thoughts, dacoity, slave trading, ruthlessness, lieing and deception.
      16. What is the history of the black stone and where was it before being placed in the quoba?
      17. Who is Al Qudam and what does the name mean?
      18. Muslims speak of the "atrocities'' committed by the Jews against the Prophet and his followers. But in fact, it is the Prophet who plundered a jewish village, slaughtering the men and taking away the women. There are many more atrocities like this. Now, ask yourself what are the atrocities committed by the jews.
      19. Is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the God of Prophet Mohammed and the Muslims (Allah) the same? If not, who is Allah and what is his origin?
      20. How a religion that was started in Arabia, claims the God of the Jews, their scriptures, their prophets, their teachings, their way of life, their land, their doctrine, and their Holy places as its own? And what happened to the Jews, Christians, and the Pagans, the sons of the soil in the 6th century middle east, and who occupies their land now?
Everyone has the right to believe or not to believe anything he or she wants But see to it that no one fools you in the name of religion and brainwash you to hate/harm your fellow humans.

Bro is missing the point. The sun doesn't move. It's the Earth that moves. If Muhammed was legit, he would have received a prophecy saying exactly that. The ie the Earth is round. God wouldn't have to lie about it because we would have eventually found out and by telling Muhammed, Muhammed would have been ahead of the game and that kind of info would also go a long way to showing that he is a true confidante.
However, the way the verse currently is, it sounds ignorant in 2023. It might look wise back in the day but in 2023, you can only wonder how he got it so wrong. And you can't blame God cos he created the sun and he would have relayed the facts as is even if it was beyond the people of the time's comprehension.
What does God have to gain about lying about something that will later be refuted when we got better scientific tools? Oh wait Muhammed also predicted that world will end 100 years after his death.

Very clearly the "setting point of the sun" is not a fixed location, but a relative location. Dhul Qarnayn traveled west until the sun had set, and with his eyes he saw the sun set as if it was descended into the waters, obviously it wasn't as the Quran is saying what he saw. After this, he proceeded to ride east until he reached a point where the sun rose. The very fact that the Quran says the sun set in the west, then he rode east and saw it rise, means that the noble Quran acknowledges that the sun orbits around earth. This standard makes it logically impossible for one to assert that the sun has a specific setting point, as it is traveling in an orbit. Since it is logically inconsistent to say that the sun orbits the earth and the sun has a specific point where it sets, it is completely erroneous to assert that the Quran says the sun sets in one specific area. In this way you deny the logically explanation, while accepting the illogical one, clearly displaying your bias. Respond to this please, I know you respond to comments.

Even assuming, for the sake of argument, that the Quran like Muslim like to believe is miraculous from the standpoint of scientific findings, that still doesn't make it truthful, and certainly not from God.
If one reads this book without prejudice, they inevitably notice the inconsistencies, the lack of a clear thread, the abundance of hatred and intolerance towards other thinkers, the complete absence of spirituality, and the constant threats for believers and unbelievers alike to end up in the fiery hell. The willingness of this deity to fulfill every (often carnal) desire of its alleged prophet, all that and much more is proof enough for me that it cannot be from God.
